Monkeyshines
The cheeky monkey in this Japanese nature video is my vote for our new mascot. This goes on for a LONG time. /via birivets who astutely notes, "I wonder what is really going on here - the music and sound effects make it all sound harmless fun, but who can tell."
  • going out on a limb here, because I certainly don't KNOW the answer to this very good question. here's my thought tho: the tigers are definitely pre-adult, perhaps the monkey is also. "cross-species youngster shenanagins" are not at all uncommon. puppies & kittens play together. small humans enjoy playing with a variety of young animals...maybe they really are just playing.
  • I am down with this monkey mascot. He cracks my shit up. I agree with Medusa, it doesn't look like anyone is getting hurt, or having a bad time. Looks like a friendly little game of "I'm gonna smack you around like you was my bitch"
  • Damn the video editors for blurring the show with their on-screen artifacts. Here's another gibbon and tiger cub pairing. Also available is the tiger with another monkey. Lucky tiger.
  • no kidding goetter, that screen in screen was annoying. but the monkey was as funny as all get out!
  • Funny stuff-- that monkey is my hero. But it looks like it's from a Chinese show, not a Japanese one
  • all you yellow people look the same to us martians, madag.
  • Doesn't seem to me the tiger cubs were enjoying any of this. More tham playing, the monkey, which probably was no inexperienced boy (because of it's wise way of reaching the tigers by the tail or ears), was picking on them like any teen would pick on younger kids. For a moment I wished the mother of the cubs appeared from behind, but I digress. This monkey should definetively be our mascot.
  • Sometimes little monkeys and little tigers can get along.
