  • The strangest birthday phone cal I've ever had was like this: 'Yes, who is it?' Ankward pause; then 'Why, it's me your grandmother!' in a slightly confused voice. (For the record, both my grandmas had been dead for a decade by then.) Then, 'Who's this... isn't it you, XXXXXX?' Of course, I'm not XXXXXX. Wrong number. Still it was spooky.
