Retroengine - an interesting collection of old colour illustrations from something or other, I don't recognise the language, it could be ..er, Japanese? .. robots, futurism, history and nature done in delightful retro style. Have at it.

I have no idea where I saw this or why I bookmarked it, nor any memory of the event, so I conclude I was surfing drunk as is my wont late at night and thought it might be worth posting here. I am also rather ashamed at not recognising the language. I actually would like to learn Japanese, but I am afraid I don't have the mental chops for intense study anymore. /irrelevant

  • Which reminds me.. time for a beer!
  • Yep, it is Japanese. The title reads "kagaku taikan - hyoushi gyararii", which means something like "A broad overview of science - Cover gallery". I guess this was a series of fascicles or books describing science-y things. No, I'm not fluent, but I know how to use a dictionary :)
  • Ah. Look at da nellyphant playing with da puddy tat...
  • Thank you, splice. Yes that is a good one, kitfisto, I like the one of Leonardo da Vinci in completely historically incorect clothing! Perhaps he was going to a fancy dress party dressed as a roman or something. :) Also the rather funky version of Robby the Robot.
  • But why does the muscle man have his belly-button covered with a purple flower?
  • Cos he's got teh gay. Bloody Muscle Mary.
  • I'm not sure that displaying the navel was actually taboo, but it was, I believe, considered uncouth.
  • Uncouth like a foppishly loose cravat?
  • Waiting for it...
  • Is Robby wearing hot-pants? Is this the secret gay agenda I've heard so much about?
  • I like this Cheers
  • Thankyou I am actually now very drunk and unlikely to remember posting this comment, although now I've said that I probably will, just like telling yourself you won't lucid dream.
  • Actually Chyren, you tell yourself you won't remember the dream in non-lucid dreams too, but you just don't remember afterwards. It's really a self-selecting sample. Oh, are you still trying to "hook up"? I can point you somewhere if you like, but not everyone would go for it... Anyway, keep on keepin' on.
