Democracy
  • Yay! What a wonderful world! Peace, justice and the American way!
  • Of course they're in secret prisons. How the fuck else are we supposed to torture them? How about this: we keep the whole "secret prisons" thing, but build them in Fiji and the Bahamas. Will that satisfy you whiners? /froth
  • Outsourcing: it's the American way!
  • Let's hope McCain's anti-torture bill passes, or it's just more of this nonsense.
  • .
  • I am completely lost here. So's the country.
  • The US has fucking gone to hell since Bush was elected.
  • Where am I? And what am I doing in this handbasket?
  • To kuatto's link, here's the full paragraph: There is no more important issue before the country or Congress. Yet the advocates of decency and common sense seem to have meager support from the Democratic Party. Senate Democrats staged a legislative stunt on Tuesday intended to reopen -- once again -- the debate on prewar intelligence about Iraq. They have taken no such dramatic stand against the CIA's abuses of foreign prisoners; on a conference committee considering Mr. McCain's amendment, Democratic support has been faltering. While Democrats grandstand about a war debate that took place three years ago, the Bush administration's champions of torture are quietly working to preserve policies whose reversal ought to be an urgent priority. Firstly, this is an editorial. Secondly, there are no examples given. Thirdly, this is more right-wing bullshit obfuscation to distract attention from the goddamn point which is that Shrubya & Co. manipulated data and railroaded everyone into a stupid, stupid war. Does anyone even know who's on that committee? What is the point of such a ridiculous callout? If it's the truth, then fucking back it up! Name names! Give examples! Are we expected to believe this is common knowledge? I'm all about McCain's bill, but this article, or specifically this talking point, is either the product of a Gullible Shithead or a Misguided Martyr and should be filed under BullShitFilter. (No offense intended to kuatto, the link was relevant - I'm just pissed about the "stunt" meme that people are happy to spread)
  • I would be very interested to hear an honest CIA official explain what the release procedure is for these 'black' prisons, if they find that you have nothing to do with terrorism.
  • >explain what the release procedure is for these 'black' prisons Release procedure? Yeah, right. There's not even a procedure for removing people from the no-fly list. Whatever you did to get on it, you shouldn't'a oughtn't'a done that.
  • The US has fucking gone to hell since Bush was elected. Naw, it took place before that. He's just a figurehead for the current condition. A S.P.E.C.T.R.E. is haunting Europe, apparently.
  • Fortunately, there is no history of criminal, horrific detention centers there.
  • >explain what the release procedure is for these 'black' prisons An unmarked grave, I fear. Otherwise, they'd go straight to their nearest terrah recruitment stations... if they are able to still function properly, physically speaking.
  • >explain what the release procedure is for these 'black' prisons Funny you should ask...
