45 Million an Hour
  • bastards.
  • Y'know what will be great is when the Iraq oil production pays for the reconstruction. and/or bastards.
  • But you're allowed to make profit!
  • Wow, I thought this was going to be something like how much shit we release into the atmoshpere or something. Bastards
  • Y'know what will be great is when the Iraq oil production pays for the reconstruction Worth repeating.
  • The reconstruction after the angry mob burns down Exxon-Mobil headquarters?
  • Now, see, Chyren, that's profit, as opposed to margin. ;)
  • More bastards: Shell, ConocoPhillips, Chevron, etc.
  • Primary industry is still where the money is. Of coourse, they're fucking up the atmoshpere, but think of all the jobs they're funding in secondary and tertiary indusry. Yes, they're bastards, but the rest of us need bastards, if we're going to survive.
  • Absolutely not, Skrik.. I could not disagree more. We need primary industry, of course -- and changing what those industries are would require massive reform and/or revolution. My life would be incredibly different (and probably more difficult) if oil companies weren't playing their little game. But to suuggest that we couldn't survive if we weren't handcuffed to the ExxonShellBP Death Machine is just nonsense. And the sooner we understand that, the sooner we'll start making the necessary changes required to actually preserve our habitat so that future generations can survive. ExxonMobil = Bastards3 And from the Flashback File: On January second the Bush administration announced a recession had stricken the nation the highest quarterly earnings in ten years were posted by Chevron -- Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, "The Winter of the Long Hot Summer" (1992)
  • How much is a cubic bastard? Like, in metric.
  • The profits look bad for now, but I'm all in favour of high prices. What's the alternative to ridiculous oil company profits? If the government artificialy keeps oil prices low then there's no financial incentive for consumers to seek out alternatives to fossil fuels, and/or energy companies simply sell their products to people, say in China, who _will_ pay the market price. People are paying (much higher) the market price for oil (in similar quantities to what they were buying 5 years ago) because they hope oil prices will go down eventually, and because they aren't going to trade in their hummer for a Prius because of one bad summer. If prices stay high, eventually people _will_ start buying more hybrids or find other ways to cut back on consumption, and regardless of oil prices, oil company profits will equalize.
  • Man, I hope that post doesn't start another one of those stupid E-mail rounds of "gas boycott day".
  • No legumes on Monday?
  • It's not comforting to know I'll probably sacrifice my children to big oil. Do you think they'll settle for leftover Halloween candy?
  • Last year they apparently made 25 or so million dollars an hour for the same quarter. That was okay, but 45 billion an hour is not okay?
  • Rolypolyman: How about "Burn Something Down Day"?
  • Man, I hope that post doesn't start another one of those stupid E-mail rounds of "gas boycott day". You didn't get that one yet? My girlfriend just mentioned it to me yesterday and I rolled my eyes so loudly the downstairs neighbors started yelling. Oh and I'll see your bastards and raise you a capitalist pig-dogs.
