Visual Complexity. How do you draw a picture of complexity? Whether it's the iPod ecosystem , a map of the Internet , 10 million receipts from a hardware store or the U.S. ruling class and even the network of interactions between major characters in the novel Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, divided in 11 communities represented by different colors.

The home page is beautiful to look at. To browse, it's best to just click on the first graphic and then use the next arrow. Monkeys familiar with Edward Tufte will like this site.

  • The image SMT reprints above appears in an article in this months' magazine of the National Education Alliance (NEA, one of the US' largest teachers' union). The article is about teen dating in high school. While I was glad to see one blue-blue link indicating a break from the heterodominant structure, I was sad to see no pink-pink links. Or am I just missing it in the image?
