How not to parent. I'm still new at this parent thing. But even I know better than these people. Just love the guy who called to report his car missing.
  • Good God that(first story i)s heinous. For crap's sake!
  • I.... I can't bring myself to continue reading that page. That's just... my God.
  • The overdone Daily Show stylee commentary really isn't in keeping with the very tragic content of the subject matter.
  • I can read them without getting too upset - these people got caught, and they are so far beyond the pale that with any luck they won't be put in charge of children again. I have hope for the kids taken out of these situations, because it can only go up from there. It's the subtle crap that gets me - the ones with the guilt trips and the cutting little comments and the "if you hadn't been born"s and the "I live on through you"s that get my blood boiling. Because they are never stopped, and they have the full support of society for the damage they do. argh. just argh, all around. And I don't even like kids as much as women are "supposed to."
  • It's not that hard to reproduce. Even idiots do it.
  • I haven't reproduced, just to demonstrate that some idiots are attempting to restrain themselves. Apropos of nothing, the litany of child abuse reminds me of the glurge with which internet personality [1] "Joe1orbit" used to deluge various newsgroups. Grim stuff. [1] Back before your time, when the internet had a personality.
  • back when it was all wustl.edu eh?
  • I just read a happy little article about a woman in SF who dumped all her kids, three of them, into the bay. It was the voices, you know. Frankly, the whole "the voices told me to do it" thing is getting used WAAAAAAAAAY too much and, AFAIAC, should NEVER be allowed. Mental problems or not, if you procreate and then kill--screw you.
  • I don't really know what to think about neonaticide. The rest of it is pretty fuct. And why should the Daily Show commentary be saved for things like public policy where more people are seriously and quite often fatally affected by stupidity? If it's just because most of those children that starve from various embargos are further away from your front door then I should sic Peter Singer on you.
  • Several moral philosophers have concluded that neonates are not persons, and thus neonaticide should not be classified as murder. Michael Tooley has gone so far as to say that neonaticide ought to be permitted during an interval after birth. What fucking criteria would they use to decide something like that? Jesus Christ, people are all up in arms about assisted suicide, but this is okay? What. The. Fuck.
  • Criteria: A person is the sum of experiences. You must be socialized in order to be worthty of personhood. Animals that are not persons, such as human babies (no experiences as an independant organism) are all fine for the chopping block. It is healthier (for the mother) to kill a baby than to have an abortion, but that just opens up a new can of worms. This happens legally in some countries. Enforcing taboo is a method of aggrandisement.
