Chimp Kicks Smoking Habit
A 27-year-old chimpanzee in a Chinese zoo quits her 16-year smoking habit.

The report did not say why zookeepers started giving the animal cigarettes No Jack Daniel's?

Related commentary at the tail-end of a different smoking chimp thread. Charlie the S. African chimp started much more recently (there was speculation that he picked up the habit by mimicking visitors who may have then thrown him a cig). Hopefully they can use similar methods to help him quit too. This is great news! Assuming Ai Ai eventually gets weaned off the fried food, we may hope to have her around for another 30 years. I like the approach they took of adding music and extra attention to her life - making it more "colourful" as they put it.

Who lit these cigarettes? The idea of a chimp with a Zippo is kind of cool. Have a smoke, shoot some pool, listen to some Black Flag, spit in someone's eye...
