You described it well! How about "Gorgeous 24-hour 'time-lapse' still-shots from scenic Italian locales, viewable by dragging the arrow around a virtual sundial. Impressive! -via ThinksTwice over at MonkeyFilter @ http://monkeyfilter.com/link.php/17060" on my FaceBook page http://www.facebook.com/bruceelliotjones#/shanemg?ref=profile ? Nice link, TT.

In "Attention Australians: There's no need to send 'Care Packagee' of Tim Tams to friends and relatives in 'the States'."

However, if you want to send musk lollies or musk LifeSavers to a "yank", I'm totally down with it and will send requested goodies or surprises back. (But are musk candies vegan!? I don't want to know.)

In "Sad forest of ghosts"

Cool link.

"Health problems are the main cause for suicides, accounting for 65% of all cases..."
Are they really claiming that 65% of suicides are people who are diagnosed terminal, or are in pain, or have an ailment bad enough to make them seek THAT way out? That smacks of whitewashing in any country, and especially in a place with as much education, job, career, and society stress as Japan.
"...the Overtoun Bridge ... is where 600 dogs have leaped to their deaths..."
Let me guess: Small, impoverished village? Not fond of canines? Someone gets an idea for a burgeoning tourist trade? "All we have to do is toss a few hundred dogs over the bridge." Or maybe I'm cynical. Hmph.

In "The Atlas Archives"

LOL, thanks! The history page is fascinating--I'd only heard part of it before--and the cover galleries are great. I had no idea how much talent was involved in Atlas. I have issue #3 of the Scorpion and of Tiger-Man somewhere in my collection with very fond memories attached. Hopped on my spider-bike (with banana seat), rode up to the local convenience store and bought 'em off a comics spinner rack when I was just a little kid. How many things in that last sentence don't exist anymore? :-)

In "Aquadots! Making Playtime more fun for everyone!"

"SOLD OUT!" LOL.

In "Toronto's Free Wi-Fi"

Right. Obviously all the more reason to go to the MoFi Meetup in TO this weekend, where I will not snog you in your sleep.

In "Toronto Meetup!!"

ALLEN'S AT 8:00 IT IS. SHOW UP AT 9:00 AND WE'LL STILL BE THERE. Probably later than 9:00 as well, of course.

Geez, I've killed this entire meetup by asking for a couch. Even though jonson vouched for me on MeFi. It's okay, people, I've booked into a hostel now.

In "A hundred dead elephants"

Damn. Thanks for the post. This is, as usual, shocking but not surprising.

In "Toronto Meetup!!"

OH HEY, don't, like, NOT come 'cuz you think Shane's going to insist on sleeping on your floor. I have alternate plans. No wuckin' furries. I just feel like maybe I'm quashing conversation in this thread or something.

It appears to be Allens (or Danforth?) at 8 or 9:00. Dora Keogh next door looks fun to me too. A. I might need to call someone for directions, as I'm a way-out-of-towner. B. I don't snore, I'm a "gentleman," and I could maybe use a couch to crash on Saturday night. Hope me if you like. I'll buy you a beer or three.

In "Sept. Toronto Meetup?"

Allen's looks great! I'll suggest it over at MeFi and MeChat.

Wherever you folks decide, just give me something I can MapQuest. ;-)

Looks like it's shaping up to be Saturday. But where? I wanna be Canadeen too. Me too. I'm just visiting for the weekend! But someday I'll be a Canucklehead.

In "Indie Comic Star and Illustrator recreates the X-Men"

Seth illustrated fellow-Canuck Dean Motter's groundbreaking comic Mister X for ages. Mr X is a classic, with a great run by Los Bros Hernandez collected into a TPB.

In "The Poezenboot (cat boat)"

Wow, thanks for the link. I can't believe these are being towed away. This pic is adorable.

In "Cleveland Meetup Pics"

Fes and Capn Renault, your shoutout pics didn't turn out. :-(

The looks on their faces as they watch with anticipation is classic & comic... still, I hope some alien race comes to Earth someday, makes us their pets, and does everything to us that we've done to animals.

In "Movie Mythology: Predator, a Shaman's View"

This is brilliant. For more, see not only the obvious Joseph Campbell works but also a chapter of Myths to Live By called Schiophrenia: The Inward Journey. Thanks, Scary Corn Imp.
