It was probably part of this story, but I heard an interview on the World Service yesterday where someone described pigeons descending into an Underground station, boarding a train, and getting off several stops later. It was said that they probably connected the various stimuli associated with boarding, riding, and leaving a train with access to food sources. (But then, don't we all?)
