Curious George - Naughty popups? I clicked on Moneyjane's last link, below, and Firefox (1.0.1) told me it had blocked a popup from this site, but immediately after the popup blocker bar appeared, a popup appeared anyway, without my taking any action. Any ideas about this, folks?
  • Which link in particular? I get no popups for any of them, not even a popup blocked message. Odd... (also using Firefox 1.01)
  • hmph - clicking it again now produces the same result as you got, exppii... perhaps just ignore me? What I said about how it was earlier is still true, though.
  • altolinguistic - there have been reports of popups getting around the Firefox blocker. I've seen one or two around the web, so you weren't imagining things. ;-)
  • These firefox popups can be blocked. Disclaimer:I haven't tried this.
  • If popups are triggered by FLASH content Firefox doesn't block them. And ad agencies more and more use that trick until everybody disables all plugins, and they find something else.
  • blame moneyjane.
  • I too have been getting lots of pop-ups, and flash doesn't work for me using firefox. Been to lazy to plow through the forums to try and figure out how to fix it.
  • Good - glad I'm not losing my mind (which has been a daily worry, recently...!)
  • varj -- that tweak seems to just disable flash based popups. For those I would reccommend Flashblock which also takes care of those irritating flash ads on pages.
  • The NYPress site? We trashed that site. Serves them damn-well right, if they were serving us popups.
  • Last few days Ive been getting loads of popups/pop unders. Darn it. Firefox 1.0
  • i've been noticing them lately with safari... i was wondering what was up.
