The results of dialing 867-5309 from every US area code. Something of a followup to this thread. [Via MeFi]
  • Some OCDs are more amusing than others. This one is pretty nice.
  • Not sure what's more lame, actually dialing the number in every area code OR leaving the angry/self-righteous outbound message at area code 678. Considering that people have been dialing this number on a lark since 1982, I will go with the latter.
  • I've been plagued by that stupid song since 1982.
  • Can't wait to read the follow-up where he knocks on the door of every 16 Parkside Lane in the US.
  • bernockle: That will be easier to track down, since it is in or around San Francisco.
  • Koko, don't change your number.
  • Wow, by the looks of it, that Tommy Tutone song has royally messed things up. BTW, are there any other culturally significant numbers floating around, or is 867-5309 all there is?
  • Cool, I answered my own question: List of songs whose title includes a phone number (Wiki)
  • pennsylvania 6-5000! *feels old*
  • How about ... 606-0842? I been callin' all day! And I'm makin' no headway!
  • the angry/self-righteous outbound message at area code 678. He does have a point though.
  • There's a girl named Jenny so fine Who had troubles at sleepy time Millions disturb her slumber Because of her famous number And OCDs dialing 867-5309 /nuthin
  • Wow, 2 different plumbing businesses have that number. That's weird.
  • Ha! The number in 401 is the furnace repair service I use! I guess you just don't notice things like this when you're freezing. (TenaciousPettle, unless you already counted GEM, make that three -- they also do plumbing.)
  • Oh, never mind, you did. I hadn't got to 617 yet -- that's the same company, only the Massachusetts version. Sorry.
  • AC/DC's 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" suggested "just ring 36-24-36, heyy, I lead a life of crime!" From what I have read people in Australia at the time with that number got many an obscene call (apparently Aussie #s had only 6 digits back then)
  • 514:
  • Oh, never mind, you did. I hadn't got to 617 yet -- that's the same company, only the Massachusetts version. Sorry.
  • Damn back button. Sorry. I go way now.
  • Rockabilly band BR549 took their name from Junior Samples telephone number on Hee Haw.
  • Whats up with all the guys saying they're Jenny? Also, I love how whenever he was blocked he added that extra spit in the face of looking up their number on google. I'd make fun of his OCD, but then again, I did read the whole thing.
  • just ring 36-24-36 I always assumed this was just a play on the famous "perfect female measurements", and not an actual phone number. Then again, Australian phones are STACKED.
  • I thought the same, TP. I think some Australian numbers are eight digits long, which blows my mind. And those are scary measurements. (When I was a kid, we had a three-digit phone number: 447. It was a small town.)
