Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker voted favorite screen scientists. Kind of hard to argue with that conclusion. Spock was second, and Drs. Who and Strangelove also made the list. Surprisingly. Dana Scully only came in 6th, probably because of that first season color scheme. (She's an Autumn, not an Earth!) So who's your favorite TV/Movie Scientist?
  • Woohoo! Muppets all the way! I knew Kermit had the most convincing arguments. Originally at the BBC and discussed on mofi here. Victory party at my place! :)
  • My favorite? Bernard Quatermass. Why? The name, baby. That's an awesome name. (actually my fave is Spock but he was already mentioned & I wanted to be more of a geek)
  • Ted Olsen: Police Squad! and Naked Gun movies. Frank: That's great Ted, but about the case.. Ted: I'll be departing tomorrow for Boston where I'll be delivering a major address to the American Archaeological society. And I'm booked on Geraldo next week. Frank: You're going on Geraldo because of this? Ted: No, my wife is a transexual satan worshiper. But meanwhile, we'll be continuing fingerprint analysis, fiber checks, DNA breakdown, hair samples, and using the microscopic dirt particles on this footprint. It's a mater of getting a geologic breakdown of this entire city. Ed: We may not have that kind of time Ted. Ted: Then maybe this will help. We found his wallet on the curb outside the institute. We haven't yet had a chance to examine it thoroughly, it just came down form the lab an hour ago.
  • Can this include engineers? My favourite TV engineers are, without a doubt, the A-Team. And MacGyver. And Robot Wars. And the Great Egg Race. And Scrapheap. If we can't include engineers, then forget I made a comment.
  • Forgetting... done. This request was completed in 0.046 seconds.
  • Whoops...sorry about the re-postage. Color me the banana color of shame. However, imo the list is woefully incomplete without Steve.
  • And Urkel?
  • Bernard Quatermass Would that be of "Quatermass and the Pit?" I love how his brogue got thicker as he got more agitated. I must admit that I've never seen "Dr. Who," but always wanted to.
  • The Professor from "Gilligan's Island," and Dr. Everett Scott from "Rocky Horror." I'm highly impressed that Frank N. Furter from the latter film made the short list.
  • This isn't repostage - this is results, which I would have missed otherwise. Thanks!
  • My favourite may be too obscure, since he's from a show that I don't think had international exposure, but I submit Julius Sumner Miller, who played The Professor on The Hilarious House of Frightenstein. (I believe he had a show on Australian TV, too)
  • I must admit that I've never seen "Dr. Who," but always wanted to. All right MCT, which doctor do you want to start in on?
  • Speaking of great moments in Australian TV history: The Curiosity Show! Rob and Dean! Oh please, someone back me up, here! *lights the Wolof beacon*
  • No Love for Bill Nye?
  • What about Mr. Wizard?!
  • Oh, I'm open to suggestions. And how the hell did Mr. Wizard escape me? Everything I know about the surface tension of liquids I learned from that man.
  • After reading this thread, I'm now inflicted with RHPS litany lines. Immediately, when I read the_bone's comment, the thought was: "...or should I say Doctor von Scott." Sieg heil! /former obsessed RHPS fan As for favorite screen scientist, I vote for the Mads. Dr. Clayton Forrester and TV's Frank.
  • MCT - there's only one Doctor Who! Tom Baker!
  • *lights the Wolof beacon* Not really a Curiosity Show fellow, but will second the Sumner Miller business. (Yes, he did have a TV show in Oz. He also did ads for Cadbury's. Chocolate is energy!)
  • *lights the Wolof beacon* Not really a Curiosity Show fellow, but will second the Sumner Miller business. (Yes, he did have a TV show in Oz. He also did ads for Cadbury's. Chocolate is energy!)
  • My favourite is Professor Utonium who created the Powerpuff Girls (duh!).
  • My favourite fake scientist? Dr. Sam Beckett from Quantum Leap. Reason? There were multiple episodes with Scott Bakula in drag.
  • Glayvin!
  • Watch as I put the egg into the burning milk bottle!
  • MonkeyFilter: Breaking the Surface Tension.
  • *If we can't include engineers, then forget I made a comment* Actually Skrik, I reckon you could have Professor Heinz Wolff of Great Egg Race fame. Although, I think he is in an actual scientist, no? I'd also add Wilf Lunn from Jigsaw. If you're going to be a fake scientist, you might as well blow a lot of stuff up...
  • How could I have forgotten: Dr. Robotnik from Sonic the Hedgehog (later Dr. Eggman).
