Monday MP3 Mania In the spirit of the Blue's Friday Flash Fun, I propose that we Monkeys begin our own weekly tradition. Only two rules: the tune must be 1) of superior quality as judged by your own entirely subjective criteria, and 2) legal -- no copyright violations allowed.

To begin, here's New Favourite by Alison Krauss and Union Station, a "newgrass" band that plays very, very pretty stuff. Enjoy.

  • I've been bragging on them, so here's the Jane Anchor. Go here to get "Baited Trap," which was featured prominently on my next-to-last Mofi Mix. I like this! Long Live MMp3M!
  • Only it's, ah, Tuesday.
  • TMP3M it is then
  • But will we do this again next Monday, or Tuesday?? This could easily become a puzzlement.
  • Romantic Cheapskate by MC Frontalot. It's about a website (Songfight), but you wouldn't necessarily realize that the first time listening. It works on many levels, though.
  • That was awesome, sandspider!
  • Jeez people -- first day after weekend = Monday. Honestly, from the way you're talking, a person might get the impression that you think I made a mistake. I mean, really. Hangs head in shame. Anyway, Monday MP3 Mania should really take place on Monday I think. (Except on the day after Labour day during leap years.) I hope that clarifies things. Please return to pretending to work.
  • May we link to a lo-fi sample mp3 if the full song is not available legally? For example: Homeboy from Crash Into June. I'm thinking this variation should be restricted to the first odd-numbered Monday after a full moon, but is that a bit too permissive?
  • Righty. Have a bit of The Zutons' rather good 'Pressure Point', before they go and win the Mercury Music Prize tonight.* And while not an mp3, for those of you who don't find the very thought of a Windows Media file an abomination, here's 'Ban Marriage' by The Hidden Cameras. Great stuff.** *Might not be strictly legal, I'm not sure. **Is not strictly an MP3, I'm certain.
  • I keep forgetting about Amazon mp3s, so thanks! Also, everyone should download this Chuck Prophet song.
  • Also, live XTC via this site.
  • The Zutons... before they go and win the Mercury Music Prize tonight. By which, of course, I meant Franz Ferdinand.
  • Great idea, this Monkeys' Mostly Mondays MP3 Mania. (But shouldn't our codec of choice be Monkey's Audio?) Travis Morrison - Song for the Orca
  • Psst, Outrigger, it's not Monday, er... Tuesday, er... nevermind, great song!
