More old skool: Who wouldn't love to put a page like this for that special loved one? Bad page design, good writing, hilarious anecdotes, a must read!

For those who wan't to know WTF is thinking the autor of the page there's an appropiate FAQ.

  • This makes me quite happy to be single...
  • Mil Millington is one of the funniest people I've ever had the pleasure to read. Stumbled across his site years ago - I highly recommend signing up for the mailing list, here: http://theweekly.co.uk/mil_mailing_list/index.cgi
  • Second Space Kitty's recommendation. Every couple of months you get a hilarious e-mail, full of assurances that as a Mailing List Memher you get all sorts of special privileges and learn things those lazy bastards who just read the site will never know about -- it's a hoot. (And naxosaxur, I think you're taking it a bit too much at face value; he's clearly nuts about her and happy as a monkey up a tree.) (Er, unless I'm taking you too much at face value. Damn this modern irony! You never know where you are!)
  • Mil Millington is painfully funny, and would be an ideal candidate for Special Monkey.
  • Whee! Mil Millington and Eddie Izzard nominated as Special Monkeys! Add George Clooney and I can die happy. ::sigh::
  • Should have added - if you're a fan of juvenile, disgusting toilet humor (like me) don't miss the "Lavatories of the World" feature - http://www.mil-millington.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/lavvy.htm
  • I spent half an hour last night reading bits of TMGAIHAA to hubby after he eventually asked why I was giggling to myself on the floor with the laptop. His response was a vehement, "Hmm." I signed up for the mailing list, though. And I'd love to pay him to be our resident author, or something. Has anyone read his books?
  • I've read his first book, entitled 'Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About'. It's not, as you may expect, based on the website. I could argue with the ending, but some of the passages are so achingly funny I can't bring myself to complain. There's apparently a movie in development - we'll see if anything comes of it. I haven't yet gotten around to 'A Certain Chemistry' but I can hardly wait.
  • Make sure to wave your mouse over her picture on the site.
  • we need to start an Official List of Official Special Simians or Special Monkeys or whatever the hell we're going to call them once we invite them. MoFite Invites!
  • Why don't you just invite whoever yourself?
  • Special titles seem like a bad idea. I guess for me half the fun of our site, (well alright Tracicle's really but she seems willing to share), is that anybody can be anybody with all ranked equally.
  • But, what would special titles hurt? It doesn't look as though they'd appear in a post signature, but they might be interesting on the user page. And we could have a lot of fun coming up with categories. Dizzy has earned one, IMO, just for what he's done here. And, when I got advice from hamma7, and a "good post" from languagehat, I felt as though I'd been touched by MeFi royalty. Why wouldn't we acknowledge that those who think it is interesting to post here have contributed so much in other venues? If they're shy, we could allow them to opt out.
  • Sorry, hama7, I second guessed myself on the spelling, which never workd.
  • I love Mil Millington. One shame with this is that a lot of the older material has disappeared over the years (for space reasons, I expect), especially as some of it was (in my opinion) some of the best stuff on there. You should check out The Weekly too. And certainly do sign up for his mailing list - its as good as languagehat suggests. His columns in the Guardian are pretty good, too. (Mil is one of a number of loosely related, utterly wonderful British writers and journalists, who all seem to be under rated, or just plain ignored, in general, seemingly, cos they're all geeks and nerds. You should check out Dave Green, who writes Need To Know, a weekly computer and news newsletter Stuart Campbell, a computer games journalist (see the short lived but wonderful digiworld) JNash, who co writes The Weekly, with Mil. And Paul Rose, who used to write the wonderful computer games pages on ITV's teletext service (in my opinion, some of the funniest writing of the last ten years, and seen by no one except teenage computer gamers), and the website Bubblegun, now dead, but funny (especially the Top Tens, and the Knife and Wife cartoons). (There's a few more too, but this comment is already twenty pages long, and completely off topic. Also, I can't remember who they are, and its New Years Eve, and I should be getting drunk right about now. Especially now I've revealed what a giant geek I am. Happy New Year everyone.)
  • Well, dng, it seems that staying on topic is no attribute of this place anymore, if it ever was. Which is actually good. Conversations become more richer thanks to some derailings. Besides, your comment was quite on topic IMO.
  • I saved all the old stuff in a word document. How much is it worth to ya? >:)
  • I saved all the old stuff in a word document. How much is it worth to ya? I'll bid threepence halfpenny if you can convert it to Word Star.
