"American Brandstand is a barometer of 'brand relevance' in hip-hop and youth culture." There were 82 different brands mentioned in the Billboard Top 20 in 2003: *The most mentioned brand: Mercedes Benz. *The artist who mentioned most brands: 50 Cent. *Only one branded song was not connected to hip-hop or R&B: Good Charlotte's 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous'. I am lamely admitting linkage from Gawker.
  • Louis Vuitton makes bras? oh...artistic license! never mind.
  • I love being sold things in my music.
  • Maybe the RIAA should start selling ad space in the lyrics of music and subsidise itself there. that way, we could all download with impunity for 'free' and everybody makes money. Apparently a lot of television networks are refocusing their ad sales on product placement rather than inter-act spots. that way, you TIVOheads won't be able to skip them all.
  • My pal Schlep taught his White-Crested Cockateil to sing "Fe-e-e-lin' 7-Up, I'm feelin' 7-Up". We don't stay in touch.
  • Fucking hippies! Consume!
  • shudder Good post Naxo.
  • So depressing. I need a drink. Of cold, refreshing Budweiser! From the fine folks at Anheuser Busch!
  • *Chokes.*
  • Complete this old monkeys: I'l like to teach the world to sing... Not a big fan of these guys but it bears some scrutiny. And my kid has this subject at school. I told him, "No kid of mine is going to fail TV."
  • I'd like to teach the world to sing... Thanks for nothing, you fuck.
  • Shotsy, I read somewhere that companies are actually having products digitally placed in older episodes of shows so they'll show up on reruns.
  • Shotsy, I read somewhere that companies are actually having products digitally placed in older episodes of shows so they'll show up on reruns. Well, you know movies these days don't have enough special effects to keep digital artists like that employed.
