web-less spider webs 'The thumbnail pictures do not show spider webs; they show the tracks of spiders during web construction. The tracks have been coloured to emphasise the different phases of web construction.' Posted to mofi by dhruva.
  • Best of the web.
  • Oh, you've spoiled the pristine emptiness of post number 1, now, Wolof.
  • I remember being particularly impressed by this post in days back before I joined monkeyfilter.
  • You're just pissy because going way back is your riff. (See next post.)
  • Whoops, that was for dng. I'm not suggesting bees is pissy, although is possibly wacky.
  • You're just pissy because going way back is your riff. (See next post.) Damn you Wolof. Get off my turf. *shakes fist*
  • Wow. This thread is beautiful, if not quite as PoMo as MeFi 19.
  • I suspect that Mmikey here is doing viral marketing for this movie...
  • old old old old old old threads. but i can still add comments. perhaps i should start adding one pointless comment to every thread on this site. maybe i'll start a trend and end up hailed as a revolutionary trend-setter. or maybe i'll start a trend that ends up choking the server, too. bwa ha ha ha ha ha.
  • I already thought of this, but I realized someone else would think of the same thing and it turned me off to the idea.
  • *toasts #2*
  • Happy New Year
  • This is so fucking awesome. We heart you, tracicle family!
  • *wanders back in* *looks around, small tears of nostalgia forming in the eye* *nods in quiet satisfaction* *leaves*
  • *wanders in* *trips over lifeless body of daisy_may* *flees screaming like a little girl*
  • *wanders in* *notes that nobody's talking about the link* *sighs*
  • It's a joyous day in the Blue as MeFi heralds the birth of their new messiah Kay and mathowie's baby. Of course, it is only proper to point out that MoFi posted their first First Baby years back. MeFi is slow in catching the meme, as usual.
  • *wanders in* *wonders why no one is confused by the jump from scary spiderwebs to new babies* *shakes head*
  • *wanders back in* *looks around, small tears of nostalgia forming in the eye* *nods in memory of spiderfilter*
  • *wanders in* *wonders why this place looks so much like a MUD all of a sudden* *wonders what happened to post no. 1*
  • *wanders in* *looks confused* *wanders out*
  • *wanders in* It's a fact... you CAN get blood from a stone. *wanders out*
  • Hey. We missed our second birthday. tomorrow is the second anniversary of my joining. I thought of it seeing the date - see it was Nov 28 where I was (North America), but already Nov 29 UTC.
  • Three more days till I turn two!
  • Yep, happy birthday monkeyfilter!
  • You know, someone ought to make an FPP on metafilter letting them know that we just turned two! I bet they'd really enjoy that!
  • Happy retroactive birthday, monkeyfilter! Can't believe I've been here 2 years and 3 days. Wot is wrong with me?!? Why is it some years feel a lot longer? There is a basic flaw in the proper order of the universe! Can Number Two fix it?
  • I put in a feature request for you, bees.
  • Whoops, I missed this one. I thought the testing testing one was "#1" even though it was #3. And #1 is blank. Okay, I'm done...and yet, only just begun.
  • *wanders in again *whistles Happy Birthday off key *wanders out looking for Pianistic
  • *wanders in* *wonders why "Recent comments:" is covered with poo* *wanders over to MeFi*
  • Hello.. it's January 2006. Monkeyfilter has 4543 users as I write this. Regina is still the capital of Saskatchewan. Hollywood movies still suck. Taco Bell makes pretty good tacos... I recommend a Gordita to you. Well, gotta run.
  • *waves to dhruva*
  • D'you think he'll come back if we start talking about the FPP again? Them's some really weird webs!
  • What a coincidence...
  • Hey there! Sticking around?
  • Hey there, it's June 28, 2006. There's 5376 members. I'm reinstalling Windows 2000 and downloading a 129 MB Service Pack 4. Boring boring boring. There's been a rash of earthquakes in the Rat Islands of Alaska. Did you try that Gordita I recommended in January? Good.
  • By the way, what was post #1? Why is nothing there?
  • That's where we keep the good china. We don't trust you with that thread just yet.
  • It was a test post. Er, I think. Yeah. Or good china. Maybe. Yeah.
  • Wow. This thread is beautiful, if not quite as PoMo as MeFi 19. At least our link still works, Cat-Scan was taken over by the squatters years ago.
  • ...and this link is now posted to MeFi. Heh. Oddly enough, I discovered this gallery independently while looking for images to show my biology class over the summer. I was using the web patterns as an example of instinctive behavior, the idea that the web is built the same way by a given species without any prior experience or observation.
  • Good to see you again, frogger.
  • Man, you all are still here? Good thing tracicle doesn't lock old threads like MeFi does... that would be no fun.
  • The way tracicle does it is more fun.
  • Happy 2007! OK, my resolution for 2007 in Thread 2 is I'm no longer going to recommend Gorditas. Michel Cluizel chocolates are the the shiznit! So you, put down that lint roller and go get some!
  • I'm wearing my hypercolor shirt, drinking new coke and playing coleco. PSYCH! Oh man, that was fresh.
  • Sometimes I think I should lurk less and comment more (like I used to). Other days I think I should work more and lurk less (like I ought to). Right now I'm procrastinating again (that just won't do). Frogs to self: "Back to work, you!"
  • does anyone read the posts down here?
  • No, everybody's in the pink tacos thread.
  • I don't read the posts, I just pretend I did and then comment off-topic.
  • lmao. this place is wild. now i remember why i signed up for it. then lost it. but i found it again, while googleing my screen name.....
  • Good a place as any to get back in, one supposes.
  • Happy 2008! Sorry I'm 7 months late posting this. Time for bed.
  • come back beeswacky
  • and moneyjane!
  • And Wolof.
  • No pants?
  • It's only Monday. NO PANTS!!!1 Day is on Thursdays. Aw, what the hell, since it's a special occasion. *removes pants*
  • Happy Birthday, you old fart! *gasps*
  • I remember being embarrassed because I didn't join the site until November 30th. NOW WHO'S THE N00B?!?!
  • Let's see... Since I joined- -I got married. - Moved to Prague, Austin, South Dakota and back to Albuquerque. -Have finished a book, which will be published in January. -Had a baby (Bryce, 8 months old, currently pulling books off the shelf.) -Had testicular cancer. - Worked innumerable menial jobs including teaching English to Czechs, selling used books (a couple of times over), editing for Hoovers.com and, currently, tutoring public school kids. My favorite? "Contributing Editor" for Brijit.com, a company whose business model consisted of sending money to people like me for no good reason. Not too surprisingly, they folded. -Posted 167 links and 4404 comments, all of them pure shit.
  • A full life, Nick. -Posted 167 links and 4404 comments, all of them pure shit. Nickdanger, setting the gold standard for posting.
  • *wanders in* Hello, everybody! *wanders out*
  • *double take*
  • OHMYGOD
  • Is this like an episode of This Is Your Life? Do they even have that in other countries, where an aging celebrity is tricked into showing up in front of a live audience and then their entire life is presented complete with cameo appearances from people who know them? This is the bit where languagehat's voice is played over the PA and the presenter says, "Do you know....THIS VOICE?" and the celebrity guest is completely fucking dumbfounded?
  • Yeah, and then at the end they all come out and hug and kiss and get all kinky.
  • hello monkeys, good to see you all are still about.
  • *waves to bratcat*
  • It's January 1, 2009 and I realized it's time for my annual update. The Earth is still here. Monkeyfilter is still here. We're watching little earthquakes in Yellowstone but maybe all is fine. Obama is gonna be US President in a few weeks. I sure hope this presidency doesn't go down the well-travelled road of mediocrity. And I learned how to toss pizza. See you in 2010!
  • Neat! I really like the circular web with the iridescent reflections. I've seen some of the zig-zaggy ones, but not the fancies. I much prefer a visible web than invisible strands at face level that you run into and have to scream and swipe.
  • Wow, I'll have to come back here for the official sixth anniversary. I'll catch you all up on some of my doings (not as exciting as NickDanger, but still...).
  • Hey hey hey! Who's up for a commenting marathon!?
  • *jogs in place*
  • *breaks out in cold sweat*
  • *turns white*
  • *falls down*
  • *dies*
  • *attempts to revive*
  • *fetches crash cart*
  • CLEAR!
  • *pwwweeee-CA-CHUNG-gwooiiinnng*
  • *expires* . . . . oh, wait! . *inhales....*
  • Ed, my turn! *inhales* . . . . *jumps on crash cart* Wheeeeeeeeeee! *falls over* *giggles*
  • This thread needs Kool-Aide!
  • And cookies! Lots of choco-chip cookies.
  • And then bring out... *NO! Not the comfy web! *
  • Back for my annual New Years update. Happy 2010! What's up with this economy? Not sure if we're going up or going down. The Summer Of Celebrity Deaths sure was something. And that Balloon Boy thing too (the dad got jail time I hear). Is Iraq and Afghanistan a US colony yet? I bet nothing will change there when I update this in 2011.
  • LMAO! I can't believe some people are still posting on this thread! I like the annual update..... I can't believe i'm still here. Since may 2008, i have gone through 4 boyfriends, packed 6 times, unpacked 5, been: a writer, student, lazy bum, homeless, miserable, depressed, ecstatic, happy, an orphan, and lonely. I've attended several punk shows, gotten smashed drunk 3 times, had a bunch of ego boosting looks and comments from people i could care less about, amused a few boyfriends, fought with a few more, and written a great amount of stream-of-consciousness garbage!
  • Nice stream of consciousness, Deardre <:(0)
  • The craic has been mighty.
  • Eeep! Thanks for the nightmares. Here I am, just paddling down the river, and a giant web spinning spider jumps on my head.
