Curious George: . Hommy, pleg, Dan, gomi, Karen, Cubby, Tommy, Darlene, Sharon, Bobby, Doreen, Lonnie, Annette... We like you!! Kudos to the Monkeys that regularly post! How many Monkeys out there are still reading? Can we get a roll call?
  • Who the hell is Lonnie??? Looks like I'm too far down the list Hmph...
  • Here, for the love of MoFi-that-was.
  • I pop in once in a while... but I am more of a lurker now. Especially since I didn't make the list at all.
  • I'm still here. But I think the activity before the election last year just wore everybody out. Sarah Palin provided so much to make fun of, that we all are exhausted. Having been raised by a Jewish Mother, I now feel extremely guilty for not being very active lately. So instead of going to sleep, I'm going to try to put together a post. No, it's okay, don't worry, I'll sleep tomorrow night. Really...I'm a mother, I'm used to being tired all the time. I'll just take extra vitamins. And have an energy drink before I hit the road tomorrow. I mean, I've been sleeping on the floor with a rescue kitten for weeks now anyway, so what's another night of no sleep? I can sleep when I'm dead. Really, I only feel a little dizzy, I can keep going for a few more hours....
  • Perhaps social networking sites are killing forums like this...
  • I dunno, wasneme...I'm fairly techy (I'm a web designer), but I avoid social networking sites like the...er...swine flu. Anyway, technically, Mofi is a social networking site. Or maybe it's more of an anti-social networking site.
  • I follow via RSS, anti-social bastard that I am.
  • I check in every day and have for the past many years. I just don't post or comment much. But I am here!
  • I'm still here, but I'm not in front of the computer so much at the moment. Whenever I am online I'm in #mofirc though. *waves to everyMonkey*
  • *waves back* *but refrains from any monkey-like enthusiastic screeching and poo-flinging, as it's far too early for that.
  • I'm around....
  • I don't spend as much time online as I did during the recent evil times, but winter's comin'; I'll be back when the snow falls, and the soup pot needs stirrin'.
  • *waves*
  • I've been lurking for five years. Thanks for the links, folks!
  • I read daily. I just don't have anything to say.
  • hallo
  • Hey everyone!
  • hi folks.... i'm here and on mefi daily, but never post... thanks for the links.
  • I'm here. I have been for years. I just never say anything.
  • *ook ook*
  • I visit often.
  • Here, but life has been...intense lately.
  • Um...present
  • This is my favorite place to be!
  • I'm here once every week or so, but work has been very problematic recently (i.e. there's been way too much of it), so my visiting has been curtailed. I'm also spending more time on facebook, alas.
  • RSS reader here.
  • Awwwwww! *gives all the Monkeys hugs and kisses* Lurkers may have two hugs extra.
  • Fits and starts for me.
  • I wear the t-shirt a lot though.
  • I've been reading Monkeyfilter for years, can't remember if Ive ever posted though.
  • If I had the t-shirt, I'd guess I'd want to wear the *monkey on my back* as they say... As for Facebook: it's notably inferior for cats who like to yak. I think the limit is 420 words, with no paragraphing allowed. We have so many riches here for our blogadaceous tracts, so much more *opportunity* for cross the board commenting, without having to clue down to truncated, almost tweet sized snippets. The only thing Facebook has over us is the ubiquitous asking of everyone under the address book sun to join up with us. That and the notification to our emails whenever someone DOES deign to comment on our little gems. But against that, and far more important, is the better notoriety, for some reason (try it!), that comes from mass access to each MoFi googling searchable and newsfed gem, which gems virtually exist forever. Further, Facebook is now minion of the evil Microsoft Empire :( As for Myspace, that one does have more blog potential, but again its a closed system, often for the lurking viewing of insider membership friends only. We are far more egalitarian and all encompassing in our compassionate neohominidisms. Moreover, although javascript is expressly outlawed, tons of javascript is uploaded anyhow to Myspace, making some pages groan under the content heavy weight of hellborn impersonality, which constitues the average users so called *personality* Someone must cut the Gordian Knot over there, and since Rupert Murdock recently bought the flagging Myspace, it may again have a chance to surpass Facebook for sheer membership volume, only with better freedom of expression. But his plan is already outed, and it is to make Myspace into an even more content heavy Media Portal. If he drops the ball by making it into a zombie portal for Fox News, it's done. Notably Monkeyfilter has its structural means on the ball for truly individuated idea marshaling!
  • Welcome, pistaugh!
  • LONG LIVE MOFI :(o)
  • I still check in on a regular basis. I've stopped posting pretty well everywhere lately though. Life seems to have gotten in the way of that sort of thing.
  • Still here. Too depressed to contribute lately I guess. What fimbulvetr said.
  • What kittenhead said, but I am here!
  • I still lurk.
  • Oh, hello. Still around from time to time. Probably, like others have alluded to, facebook fills some niche that MoFi used to. Don't know, the web has been changing, I guess.
  • Dearest Monkeys Filter (that is, I suppose, like passers-by or courts martial or attorneys general): I remain, steadfast and unwavering, your friend. Seriously -- you, reading this right now. You personally. When you post, please know that I read, and that I am grateful. Even if you just read the site, as I often do, you're absolutely contributing, and should continue to consider me your devoted compatriot. So yes -- I'm out here. I'm grateful and delighted. There's no equal to MonkeyFilter, or your contributions to it. The whole thing is just completely posh and lovely, and you're the reason why. Seriously. Sincerely yours,
  • I just got back from several years of infrequent, rushed internet, and have been stopping by a few times lately.
  • I admit I'm another one who regularly reads but doesn't post. It seems lately the Internet has folded in on itself in places. I feel less exploratory than I did five years ago. I guess I need to readjust my perspective. Thanks Monkeys, for keeping the sanctuary alive.
  • Actually, zedcaster, that's what I feel too. Plus, Facebook (somewhat) lately. But mostly, internet = bigger and smaller, all at once.
  • Who are you people and what are you doing in my laptop?
  • > Who are you people and what are you doing in my laptop? Oh, we're just straightening up a bit in case company comes over.
  • So, who here besides me thinks that beeswacky is probably actually dead? I mean, I hope not, but still, I sometimes wonder.
  • Oh man, don't say such things. *worried*
  • I wonder that too, Nickdanger, and the thought is very upsetting. Goes to prove the intangibility and weirdness of the medium, I guess, that we don't know and can't find out. Sigh. *hugs everyone who's still here*
  • It's a terrible and lonesome thought that one of our dearest and best-loved members could have passed on ... while others such as tracicle persist in a shambolic and uncanny half-life to torment us all.
  • My theory is that we're all still here because we like being tormented. And that goes for the other 12,950 - WHOEVER YOU ARE!!!! maybe bees has gone to a higher plane... like IPv6... rIP, Bees...
  • I pop in from time to time. I've also often thought that Bees has probably passed away (or he surely would have checked in once or twice over the years), but then I'm a bit morbid anyway.
  • I miss the bees. *sniff* I'm sure he's buzzing around somewhere, otherwise, if he were on the empyrean plain, he'd be posting here regularly. By my watch, it's time to torment Ed again. *gets out the Tickle FingersĀ®*
  • I check in a few times a week. Count me in as a lurker. But I'm not lurking in a creepy, oogling way. I'm lurking in a wistful, cheery way. :)
  • Yeah, I'm sticking pins into my tracicle doll in a wistful, cheery way, too.
  • *twitches*
  • It has been so long, and all these other sites require my constant care and attention! I feel so guilty.
  • As well you should!
  • I've also often thought that Bees has probably passed away (or he surely would have checked in once or twice over the years), He has an email address in his profile. Has no-one ever been able to get in touch with him?
  • I've tried emailing, but no reply :( also, ding, you saw this, right? and you are coming, right?
  • I'm not sure I'll be able to, unfortunately. I'm trapped in norwich that weekend. Stupid Norwich
  • Boo, Facebook! Too much personal information, not enough rambling on about inconsequential but nonetheless terribly interesting things. I don't care if you've had a toothache today, I want to know when it's World Toilet Day, or How to fly hassle-free with sex toys, or about Pancakes for Pinkos, or about the Parking Meter Fairy. Things only Monkeys provide. Bah.
  • AH, YOU GUYS CAME TO MY PARTY!!! AND IT'S CAPS LOCK DAY. AND I LOVE YOU GUYS. *COLLAPSES IN A PUDDLE OF HAPPY BECAUSE WE'RE ALL HERE*
  • *HUGS GRAMMA*
  • Still reading (lurking) - and obviously from the tardy response, not often enough. I claim the overloaded work schedule excuse. I don't check in as often as I used to, but I still wear my mofi shirt and listen to my monkey swap CDs and remember the halcyon days of yore. What is this odd malady that has slowed the pace of the monkeys? Is it the "economic downturn"? At any rate, this still is one of the best places on the web, I think.
  • *led zeppelurk*
  • I also fear that the bees may be extinct. I've googled all sorts of ways using what few details I know of him, which, alas, isn't enough. Sad. More info ever-so-welcome!
  • I miss The Underpants Monster.
  • *lip quivers* I miss TUM, too. *snivels*
  • What did you people do to The Underpants Monster?
  • We've misplaced our Underpants. Com'on, Nick, it's not like it isn't a common occurrence around here.
  • I'm going on an Underpants hunt.
  • There, I've flung some monkey-poo at TUM. Perhaps TUM will fling some back.
  • Ah, fairywench. Thank you. You have earned your daily PopTart.
  • Oh, thank you! I've frequently been called a tart, but never been given a PopTart!
  • I don't look at the links or really read people's comments. I do, however, make some comments of my own.
