Freeze Frame - Historic Polar Images, 1845-1982 from the Scott Polar Research Institute "Freeze Frame is the result of a two-year digitisation project that brings together photographs from both Arctic and Antarctic expeditions."

Sadly, no stills from the memorable 1970's production of Scott of the Antarctic

  • I love the ships. There's something so eerie about a lone ship surrounded by ice, with that crystalline sky behind. Nothing for eternity around it. Maybe it's the thought of the ice shifting and trapping the ship, or even crushing it. Great find, islander.
  • I love the one of Herbert Ponting standing on his head. Confirms everything I've always believed about the Antarctic. Good find, islander. Also, somewhat epony-hysterical
