Love Something Ugly.
  • mct: The link doesn't seem to do anything but sit there. Whazup?
  • It works, it's just flickr's incredibly sloooooww flash interface.
  • Well, I love cappy. Does that count?
  • Poxy dandelions. Bane of my existence.
  • tl;dr
  • I've tried this line on women for years now.
  • I guess ugly's in the eye of the beholder. I wouldn't use that word to describe most of these pictures.
  • These are fascinating, mct. ))) I have often thought that someone should start a botanical garden (or at least a wing of one) based entirely on weeds. Some of those suckers, if allowed to grow, turn into fascinating, alien-looking structures that we seldom get to see. Of course you'd have to hand out Benedryl at the door...
  • Marsh Flowers Here the strong mallow strikes her slimy root, Here the dull night-shade hangs her deadly fruit; On hills of dust the henbane's faded green, And pencill'd flower of sickly scent is seen; Here on its wiry stem, in rigid bloom, Grows the salt lavender that lacks perfume. At the wall's base the fiery nettle springs, With fruit globose and fierce with poison'd stings; In every chink delights the fern to grow, With glossy leaf and tawny bloom below: The few dull flowers that o'er the place are spread Partake the nature of their fenny bed. These, with our sea-weeds, rolling up and down, Form the contracted flora of our town. ---George Crabbe (1754-1832)
  • Works just fine for me today. Whatever. Interesting link.
  • What's the deal with putting the picture of a not-necessarily-stunning woman in there? Seems kinda horrible to me.
  • Yeah, that seemed quite a rude thing to do.
  • Also, that blonde chick doesn't seem to have any nipples.
  • She can have mine. I'm not using them.
  • The Ford tractor is gorgeous.
  • >>What's the deal with putting the picture of a not-necessarily-stunning woman in there? Seems kinda horrible to me. I thought maybe the "ugly" in that picture was the craggy, sparsely-forested rock rising up behind her. But yeah, the juxtaposition was unfortunate.
  • 1. Do something pretty 2. Love something ugly 3. ?
  • 3. Eat Something Nasty
  • Most of these photographs are just stunning - taking ugly (peeling, rusting, discarded) things and finding beauty in them. Wonderful images. But yes, the photograph of the woman simply did not belong. Not only was it not ugly (she was pretty, and the landscape looked nice too), but it wasn't a good photograph.
