The zombie dots have evolved!
"You're a citizen of Malton, a city that's in the process of being evacuated and quarantined to contain an unspecified contagion..." Like you don't already know that means 'brains on toast' is the hip new breakfast trend. (via robotwisdom.)
Most people have seen the Zombie Infection Simulation, but the replay value for that is limited. The solution? Become a soldier, scientist or civilian fighting the good fight (for about 50 turns daily.) No fancy plug-ins needed, either. Some Yahoo Groups are set up for discussion, as well. It just launched on the 4th, so it's still growing and it's hungry for more brains. It's Friday, it's my first link, and there's zombies everywhere! Eep!
-
And a fine first post it is. To think I was actually going to work today. Thanks!
-
I *am* going to do work today because I *am* going to leave early! Oh shit, I'm on MoFi again. I think I have a problem.
-
*me too*
-
brain sandwich
-
You should have more pictures of yourself on your site, cobaltnine. /leer Synchronicity: Mrs Chy and I earlier were talking about our delight in the shade of Cobalt Blue.
-
That is the most disgusting squicking thing I have seen.. today. Thank you, SideDish.
-
Dammit, absolutely nothing happened in my fifty turns. No zombies, nothing. Found a med kit and a crucifix.
-
Yeah, I meandered and attacked several people, but got no response or points that I could tell.
-
There was absolutely no one in the area I chose to start. That is until I came across an auto-repair shop that had like 15 players loitering around. No one would talk. No one reacted to my attacks. WTF? And why did they all congregate at the auto-repair shop damnit! I found two books, when read gave me the message, "you read the books and did not learn anything new from them." Grrr... Ok, I'm going back in, time to start flame-torching everything in sight! And thanks for the mouth-watering link Sidey! Mmmmm, pass the hot sauce!
-
And why did they all congregate at the auto-repair shop damnit! Stoopid mindless zombies!
-
Your character doesn't dissapear when you stop playing. Most people you see probably aren't actually there, they are just waiting for their points to return or have stopped playing the game completely. Also, I saw the most people in a car park :P I even managed to turn into a zombie and kill one of them before I ran out of points!
-
"Most people you see probably aren't actually there..." Yeah, welcome to my world.
-
I killed a zombie!!
-
There's a zombie in the Earle Towers, near the Swithun General Hospital & Dineen Park. I'm out of turns; go get 'em, monkeys!
-
Damn, not another RPG, I spend enough time on KoL as it is.
-
Damnit, almost nothing happened for me. People weren't really there, and all I found was a book that gave me 1XP for reading it. Suck. Plus, I spent the whole time afraid that I would go to the next building and aaah! a zombie would be there! Now I'm just standing around in some bank without more turns. Foo. I'll still probably play again tomorrow.
-
It would be fun to all create different characters with different strengths and all join the same neighbourhood at the same time. Only I can't do that this weekend, but you all should, that would be pretty cool, unless, of course, you all also find no zombies and no people to talk to. But a full-scale multi-party assault on the town might be really fun, and effective.
-
Don't kill zombies, one of them could be me! I'm outside a lab building in a place I don't remember. I, however, which to consume your brains.
-
I gained a total of one experience. Woo! I'm playing as a shopper, but I can't find any malls. Someone needs to map this game.
-
The city is slowly being mapped as a spreadsheet in the Yahoo groups' file section, tracicle. I was briefly playing as a fireman. I found a lot of gear but no zombies, so I created a new character, jumped out a window, and have been munching on this one guy ever since. Eating someone is a surprisingly hard and slow process.
-
As is beating up a zombie, I notice. Nice to know there's a map. I'll download it if I get into the game enough. It's a slow game, but it's also early days so I'm hoping it'll evolve.
-
I saw you in there, Tracicle! Unfortunately, I think the map needs to be opened in IE to work properly.
-
Here's an online map for you zomnkies shuffling about.
-
Woo! *goes to the mall*
-
Hmmm... So here's what I've learned: It's more fun to have multiple characters. Doctors suck ass. Privates can shoot alright and thus get lots of experience pretty quick. Necrotechs can't fight worth a damn, but they can extract DNA from zombies and gain experience (and also learn who the zombie used to be.) The game seems to get better every day.
-
I'm really enjoying this, now that I've joined one of the off-site mailing lists. A lot of stuff goes on outside the game, with "living" players plotting to claim back fortified areas and power plants from the zombies and the undead players organising mass attacks on the living. Don't say the z-word, but I am one. Nickdanger, do you know if the DNA extraction has any impact on the extractee? Someone took my DNA but it didn't seem to affect me. What's the purpose?
-
Duh, you said what the purpose was.
-
You're a zombie? Noooooooo! Ahem. I'm enjoying it too, but I am teh suck at it. I also never find anything and my attacks never work. Seriously, I'm at 8 XP, and I play a fair bit. Teh suck. Here are some questions for the better, more experienced players: I found a crucifix, will it ever be useful? Also a bottle of wine? (I drank it, and nothing happened. I suppose I'm hard to get drunk in the game, contrary to real life). Also, how long does it take for a dead body to come back as a zombie? And, it seems that you can revive dead people now, but can you revive a zombie? In other words, can the living ever win back the town and win the game, or is are we doomed because the zombies won't stay, um, fully dead? Also, if I give up on my pathetic 8XP character (or get eaten tomorrow) and want a new one, what's the best one to choose and best place to set off from? I'm a military medic right now, and after using my kit on myself after a zombie attack, it's been a completely useless character. Oh, and finally, how do I sign up as a new character? It keeps me logged in...any way other than by clearing out my cache/cookies, which is annoying?
-
Okay, I'm in the Yahoo urbandead group (which is keeping me up, noooo) but I still don't have answers, and I thought of another one: on the great map someone posted, what do the different colours signify, and how can you tell which are NecroTech offices? Relatedly, are they useful for me given my current status? I am being such a pest, but I always wanted to get the hang of these games, and so I'm determined to at least level up once here. :)
-
The questions I can answer: Tagging: No purpose on humans. On zombies you can see their profile (including original name and class) which is neato. Crucifix: Not useful yet, but much like fuel cans, mobile phones and some other objects there will be a use in the future. , Revivification: I totally revived a zombie. So far, that is the accomplishment I am most proud of. Got xp for it too. Best character class: So far I'm the most happy with my Necrotech. Tagging zombies accumulates experience fairly quickly with minimal risk, and they are able to identify Necrotech offices where there are some nifty "necrotech" items to be found (especially the revivification syringe *Score!*) Other than that, having a guy who can shoot (Private, or, I assume, a Cop) is pretty useful. Oh, and starting as a Zombie is pretty fun too (although there isn't much to do besides shamble up to people and gnaw on them.) Signing up as a new guy: I've just been opening up my cookies and deleting the one called www.urbandead.com or whatever. Annoying, yes, but I think I'm addicted. Misc: Apparently you cannot "oversearch" an area, you will always have the same chance of finding an object no matter how many times you or someone else has searched a particular locale. Police departments, hospitals and libraries seem to produce exactly the kind of items you'd think they would. And that's pretty much what I know.
-
*waits for APs to accumulate.*
-
12 days from Cobalt Nine to Zombie! Damn and blast. But I do feel effective munching on whoever I was munching on earlier today. The color-coding on the map is building-type. Street = dark grey, hotel = gold, and so on. Since the names are already there it's really just for quick reference/readability. The NecroTech offices can be IDed by non-lab people by entering the building and reading the description carefully. Or tag around with a lab person, like my not-dead-yet 'Jen Marsh'. I don't know how useful they are to people who can't use DNA extractors. Can non-scientists use them w/o training?
-
Drinking wine restores 1 AP. Newspapers are totally useless as far as I can tell, books, however, will give you a little XP if you keep reading them. (You're guaranteed to find a book every time you search a library.) I've got three zombies, a NecroTech labrat, and an army medic. Zombies seem to gain XP fastest, especially if you buy Vigor Mortis, Neck Lurch, and Death Grip. My "superzombie" that has them all can kill a survivor or two a day. Living character classes, NecroTech technician or army private seem to be the ways to go. I haven't had any trouble creating new characters. I just log out, click the logo to go back to the index page, and create it from there. On the map the different colors correspond to the different colors on the buildings in the game. Hospitals are pink, nightclubs are purple, etc. If the building name is in red, that means it's a NecroTech building. (If you've got NecroTech employment skill, in the game you see "A NecroTech Building". If you don't, you see the name, like "Romero Arms".) Knowing that it's a NecroTech building isn't real useful unless you've got the skill.
-
Thanks for all the comments! I'm impatiently waiting for tonight when my AP is replenished so that I can try to make a grand move. I'm so impatient that I just went and made a zombie character. Fun! I killed someone! They were just sitting inactive in a street with an inactive zombie, and were already low on XP. Prolly unfair to do that, but I fully expect my main character to be eaten while inactive someday, so, yeah. But then I only ever saw other zombies and so just lurched about and said "grarr" a couple of times. Still, amusing for about 10 minutes.
-
I've never heard of a zombie who played fair. For instance, it's unfair to keep coming back from the dead. All of us monkeys should try to meet up in the city somewhere. It would probably take us a while, but it would be nice to have a long term goal. Any suggestions?
-
A pub would seem appropriate. If only there was a Winchester.
-
I'm game for meeting up, so long as my character doesn't, er, bite it during my planned expedition tonight. I've been wanting to meet up with other people, esp. monkeys - if we could find a time we can all play, even if only for 10 minutes a day or so - we could try to take over areas or go on mad zombie killing sprees. That would be a total blast. Where is everyone now? Should we aim for the middle? I'm in Pitneybank, right near Fort Creedy (don't use this to come find me and eat me, kthx!) If you want to meet on the other side of the city, might take me a while to join you guys, but it would be cool to try.
-
I like the idea of heading toward Ft. Creedy. From what I understand there's something of an epic struggle going on there. Perhaps we can throw our lot in with the Survivor Resistance there and then... Glory! My Necrotech (Codenamed: Skip Jones!) is currently in East Becktown. If we do meet up, he can revivify anyone who may have been Zombified on the way.
-
I'm in Buttonville right now but I'll start making my lurging zombie way east towards the Fort. I'm at 98XP right now, not sure I want to be revivified. :)
-
I'm planning an assault on Ft. Creedy tonight, actually! And I just know I'm going to die. But I dunno, I want into that Armoury. Plus, it'll be definitely epic. I need some grand entertainment because I'm currently pulling my hair out over thesis revisions. I'm thinking the assault comes around midnight or 12:30am ET, when I have my full 50 AP. It's still a good meeting point though, if I make it I'll have weapons and XP, and if I don't, you can revivify me, Nick, and then we can go back in. How about Mattravers Cinema, at 79,51 in Edgecombe - it's two moves away from the Fort, and a bit safer than hospitals or police stations, I think. Though I guess we might have to fight Tracicle. It's going to take her a few days to get there from Buttonville though, I think. ;)
-
Sounds good. I'll try to pick up some revivifiers on the way, it sounds like we might need them.
-
I'm hiding out near but not in the fort. I'll keep my zombie away, though, to be fair.
-
You don't want to rejoin the land of the living? Hmmm? We've got great chinese takeout! No zombies allowed in chinese restauraunts, you know... /playfully waves syringe.
-
Skip Jones managed to sprint his way to Richmond Hills, extracting DNA from a few lethargic zombies on the way. Damn, it's going to take awhile to get there. Maybe we should meet somewhere in the middle first.
-
Hmm, I could revivify before getting to 100XP, and get a human skill. Shall we all meet at Edgecombe, then? It could indeed take me a while, though. Have fun storming the fort without my zombie self. Good luck!
-
Report from the Fort: teh SUCK. I waited all day for the AP to go into the fort. I drew myself out the map since it goes over two suburbs. I got pumped up (seriously, I am *such* a wimp.) I went in. I got to the Armoury. I searched ten times. I got diddly-squat. I attacked some zombies another ten times. I got one hit for 3XP. I went to the hospital. I searched 4 more times. Nothing. I attacked a zombie another 8 or so times. Nothing. Total time? About 3 minutes. What a let-down. Anyway, I'm in the cinema now, I dumped out the dead bodies and secured the doors so it's prolly as safe as you can be, since it's a non-important building, though it is awfully close to the Fort (which, contrary to what I'd heard, didn't have very many zombies - I think there were 8 around me? - and none of them were active.) I'm going to leave livii in the cinema after tomorrow morning, whenever you get there, Skip, is cool, no rush - I'll probably just run around with my zombie character for a while instead, since my living character is so bloody useless. Just let me know here when you've made it and, er, I'll try to be more useful, heh. And tracicle - looking forward to seeing you there too! (And thanks, cobaltnine, for not coming over and eating me, heh. If you want to be revivified too, come on over to the cinema and wait outside, we'll fix you up.)
-
Woo! I (daemmerung) smacked a zmobie a few times and took it down. Good fun. Fire axe seems a pretty decent weapon. Wish I could find a flak jacket, still. Current police department being looted is not giving up the goods. I'm in Ridleybank, not too far from Edgecombe. Will look for y'all there, assuming that I live so long.
-
I've got my labrat ("Violet") slowly moving that direction, and I'll keep my zombies away.
-
I've made it to Ketchelbank. I'm currently hiding out in a Necrotech building, scouring it for syringes. Getting closer!
-
Nice, glad more of you are coming! I had 23 AP again so I went out of the cinema to the PD right nearby, using up a bunch of searches I found a shotgun shell. Well, better than nothing. Then I attacked a zombie repeatedly and got one hit for 3XP. Now I'm back in the cinema. Won't be able to move again until tonight. Say hi when you meet me there - you can do it here if you like, talking in the game spends an AP. There's two zombies and a dead body right outside though, be forewarned - though I suppose they might be fellow Monkeys, heh.
-
I created a Necrotech sockpuppet (fezzik) to storm the fort and found 11 zombies in the Armory, then ran south. I'll send that dude over to the cinema now, assuming I have enough AP and I'm not dead. Couldn't find a securable building in time before running out of AP yesterday.
-
Heh, fezzik is toast. He's standing outside the cinema though with two other zombies. Lesson for today, if you're killed do not drop the objects you had when alive. I did that with my main and realised just now that I could probably have kept them in case of revivification.
-
FINALLY found another syringe! With luck I'll find another and start the next leg of the journey tonight. Here's a link to a "scientist survival guide" posted on the UD forum. Some useful info.
-
If you can get past the fan fic, that is.
-
Fan fic. The horror.
-
Ha! When I saw "Skip Jones" had DNA extracted one of my zombies, I thought the name looked familiar.
-
Wow, this thread has really picked up. So where is everyone now? My cop and my firefighter are close to Fort Creepy and if trading items gets up soon, my cop has a bunch of flak jackets and extra guns that I could swap for some ammo. My firefighter also has some paramedic training if anyone needs some healing. I kind of wish I had waited a day before jumping out of a window to make my zombie. I could have started as a corpse and been one zombie skill ahead instead of having Shopping and a cellphone.
-
Appropriate mp3 soundtrack material in this classic from The Scientist available at the Captain's Crate...
-
I'm (zombietracicle) on the southern edge of Edgecombe, still zombiefied. Should be at the cinema by morning. I've sent zombiefezzik off to hang at a Necrotech building in the hope someone will revivify him there, since I shouldn't have them both interacting.
-
I'm still inside the cinema, it's all clear, though there's a lotta zombies hanging around outside, heh. I'm not going to move again until you guys show up, so that I have some AP. My zombie's also off wandering somewhere else, and gaining more XP in a few days than my character in weeks. Argh!
-
So I just walked into Fort Creedy's armory, found a pistol, and left. I still have 0xp. Every zombie I extract dna from gives me an "already tagged" message. I'm hanging out in a nanotech building in SE edgecombe. Doed anyone know what books do? I have two.
-
I only have one character, currently loaded with weapons (two guns) but no ammo, a shotgun shell, a flack jacket, fuelcan, a fireaxe and some wine! Booze! shearbank Thorne arms at the mo.. I seem to have wandered too far west. I just drank the wine. I feel invigorated!
-
Read the books, old chap.
-
Okay, I lied, I went and moved my character. BUT! For only about 20AP, I hit a zombie three times with my axe and finished him off. Woo. Plus, I found a shotgun shell. I don't have a shotgun though. Pity we can't trade yet. Anywho, I'm back in the cinema, resting up. There's two zombies outside, a dead body, plus someone called Albert Einstein. Is that one of you lot?
-
THE Albert Einstein!? Quick, invite him to dinner!
-
When I saw "Skip Jones" had DNA extracted one of my zombies, I thought the name looked familiar. And now I can clone you... Mu Hah Hah!
-
It would be sort of ironic if Albert Einstein became a zombie, considering the drama that surrounded his brain after he died. Heh! Though he might be picking off our zombie pals, so, um, watch out for Einstein, folks!
-
My labrat is in Roftwood, heading for the cinema. I come bearing syringes and first-aid kits. Unless, like, I get eaten first... (Strangely enough, that character has taken zero zombie damage. The only hits have been from player killers.)
-
Good news everyone! The fireman Nick Danger II just met Jesus H. Christ! Yep, he's hanging out in Latham Cinema in Lukinswood, and he's not nearly as pissed off as I expected him to be. I've learned some interesting facts: 1) He's pretty much okay with the whole gays getting married thing. 2) He stopped being a messiah and is now a firefighter (apparently he digs the costume.) 3) Apparently, and this is a little strange, the original Bible was made of cheese. I don't get it either. It's probably a parable or something. Just thought everyone should know.
-
Skip Jones has made it to scenic Roach Town. At this rate, I'll be in Edgecombe in two days. Hope y'all are still alive (or that I can dig up more syringes.)
-
Daemmerung's now in Pimbank, where he's taken to hunkering in secured PDs, skipping out briefly to hack on the dead. Safety in numbers covers his butt while in the PD. (At least until he finds one full of PK renegades....) Heading next for the PD in the NE corner of Roftwood. Baruk Khazâd!
-
Be careful of PD's, goetter. They're magnets for the PK raiders.
-
Thanks. Should I meet a PK I'll be sure to denounce him here. Give y'all a head up, at least.
-
I'm 3 blocks south of Team Mofi HQ. I'll meet up in a couple hours.
-
Team Mofi HQ - woo, I like the sound of that! I'm still safely inside, though I won't be venturing out for a while because I'm low on AP. Oh, and Nick, that's the best username ever. It's Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter come to life!
-
I am now one of the three zombies outside the cinema. I only have 7HP so there's a chance I'll be a dead body for a while, until I remember to stand up again.
-
MoFi HQ is where, now?
-
Chy, it's at Mattravers Cinema, at 79,51 in Edgecombe. I'm inside and the zombies outside are friendly zombies, like tracicle. :) I think we're all going to storm the fort when everyone makes it there. Are you nearby? Come join us! Mr. Knickerbocker, are you "Hot Spot"? That person is inside with me at present.
-
ok I'm in huntley heights, not too far away, so I'll make my way down.
-
No, I'm Knickerbocker. I did see Hot Spot, their name fucked with me a little bit, til I figured out that was a name of someone, not a description of action going on. Unless cinemas contain useful items when searched, I think we should move HQ to the auto shop one square to the NE. I'm guessing autoshops probably contain useful items, though I don't know for sure. Where's the closest Nanotech building to HQ? I know of one at Maver Building (79,58), due south 7 clicks. Does anyone know of a closer one? I don't have the skill yet, but those are the places where I'll get the gear to fix up our zombie allies.
-
I'd just like to interject here that I spent this week watching the original Romero zombie trilogy (I've seen "Land" as well, a few weeks ago). I'd like to report that I'm happy to have been alive to see them. That is all.
-
The Caffin Building is 3 clicks south and 2 to the west; it's Nanotech. I've had my secondary hanging out there in the hope of revivification but it's not happening, so I've given up. I've got the AP to shuffle on over to the auto shop, if everyone else is keen. I picked up a lead pipe from an auto shop early in the game so I know they have some stuff.
-
The closest NecroTech building is the Caffin Building (77,54), that's 3 down and 2 left from the theater. I'm in the theater now. I have 2 syringes on me, but I'm out of AP.
-
Oh, the map has all nanotech building marked with red text. I didn't figure that out until now. Wow VeraGemini, how did you get so much XP? At the rate I'm going, it'll take a month for me to reach second level. I'm going over to the autoshop and checking it out. I don't know if there's anyone in there.
-
Oh shit. There's two zombies in the autoshop, and I'm out of AP. Damn.
-
I made it back. w00t! There's only one zombie left out front, and five dead bodies. I think someone named sinjin killed the others. tracicle, are that lone zombie? are did you get killed?
-
Tagging zombies with the DNA extractor. 4xp a pop, it adds up. Violet's XP is nothing compared to my big zombie character - http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=17748 Braaaaains. I popped out and syringed the lone zombie outside the theater, it was someone named Bucket.
-
I've only got XP for DNA xtract once. The other twenty times it hasn't given me credit for it. The bastards.
-
I'm inside the autoshop, looks like there's one other zombie in here with me.
-
Does anyone know whether if you drop an object in a room with other people, that one of them can pick it up? Cos I've got two pistols.
-
Don't do it Chy. It doesn't work. They're going to add the ability to trade items with others, but it's not there yet. Dropping a pistol in a room with us won't affect our odds of finding one. I have wire cutters and a fuel can now. I just popped over to the autoshop and got them. I went over there to get some dna from tracicle, but I didn't get any xp for it (again). I have to be the worst dna extractor evar. So we know that autoshops carry lead pipes, wirecutters, and fuel cans. Until we can do something about the other zombie inside the autoshop, it's not safe there. Unless the other zombie is one of us. Can zombies tell eachother apart?
-
I think you only get the XP if no one else has tagged the zombie already that day.
-
dayfat has it right on tagging - the extractors have 100% success but only if the zombie's not been extracted that day. The autoshop is more useful for searching than the cinema, but I figured the cinema was safer because zombies with the skill to open doors are less likely to look there than in places like Necrotech buildings, autoshops, etc. I don't want us to be one big pile of sitting ducks for zombies (or player-killers, too, who are also less likely to bother with the cinema). I'm willing to move though, I have AP back so let me know what you all think. I'd go try to attack the autoshop zombie, but I might just be killing tracicle, so, I won't. :)
-
I went and spent my AP scoping the situation (and issuing an appropriate cheer in the cinema, heh) so I'm stuck in the cinema for a while more, sorry.
-
Well, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I've gone and used up my server hits for the day (I'm not sure how it works, but I have both 38 APs AND only 5 moves left until the server refreshes), and a freaking door-opening zombie infiltrated my hiding place and chewed on my leg for awhile. Seems to be gone for the moment, but these guys have a way of popping back up, so if any of you monkeys find yourself in Roachtown near the Connor Arms, would you mind taking a quick looksee to make sure Skip Jones isn't getting his Necrotech ass kicked all over the hotel lobby? Let this be an object lesson for those of you playing multiple characters: it has a way of biting you in the ass.
-
Oh, and it likes there's a new zombie trait that prevents revivification... Nasty.
-
looks like, that is to say.
-
My cop, Solomon, managed to get three blocks south of Skip before I had to duck into a station. How useful do you guys think Body Builder and/or Free Running would be for a zombie? Worth the trouble finding a NecroTech to revive it?
-
Hmm, thought I commented earlier, but apparently I didn't. Anyway, you only get 160 hits to the server a day, and things like reading updates and checking profiles count. So you can only play 3 characters a day plus incidentals, really. I'd come help you, Skip, but I don't have nearly enough AP to get there and be useful, sorry. I'll check up on you tonight, though.
-
I was going to suggest revivifying both zombies (that is, me and the other one) at the autoshop. But that's a waste of a syringe. I can't get into the cinema because I don't have Memories of Life (and don't plan to). If no one owns the unknown Zombie in the Autoshop, I'll just eat him.
-
Well, you do get XP for any revivifying that you do, so maybe not a waste after all. But don't let that stop you from eating him.
-
/tears limbs, makes munching sounds
-
Zombibashi strikes again. /shudder.
-
I'm a gonna go look for needles, though I can't use them yet.
-
Looks like tracicle killed the zombie in the shop. There's just me and her in there right now. VeraGemini, does Violet still have the needle for Zombibashi?
-
Sorry I'm late, y'all. Terrible traffic around Ft. Creedy. *checks concession stand for malted-milk balls*
-
I still have one needle for Zombiebashi, but I've hit the server limit too. First time that's happened, even when I was running seven characters total, which makes me think they've tweaked something on the back end. So Violet is stuck in the cinema, and my brain-eating machine - who could make short work of any player killers - is stuck on the other side of the fort until tomorrow. dayfat, Body Building might carry over once you're zombified, I don't think Free Running would. I've had one of my zombies revivified, and her zombie melee attack skills didn't come back with her. (Although they were there, unchanged, after I jumped out a convenient window.) I'd say the extra 10hp probably aren't worth it now, since you can always just stand right back up again if you're killed.
-
Rex Mantooth, Malton Fire Dept, is at the St Benedicts hospital in Pitneybank. I took one of the zombies out. Are we headed somewhere?
-
Okay, I'm on the move again.
-
One last mad dash- Skidding to a halt at the Cinema, looking around frantically for the auto shop (Ah! there it is!), only three action points left- One to get to the yard one to get inside and one to revivify Zombibashi! Boo Yeah!
-
Following standard procedures, you press the syringe into the back of the zombie's neck and pump the glittering serum into its brain and spinal cord. There is a thin pneumatic hiss, and the zombie staggers forward, limbs shuddering, before wheeling around to face you, standing up straighter as it does so. The revived figure of tracicle looks up at you, their cloudy eyes struggling to focus. You have run out of Action Points.

Way to go, Skippy! (I can call you Skippy, right?) ;) So, is everyone pretty much in place around the cinema? Do we want to pick a time to head on out and go rampaging, or something? I'm around a bit tomorrow, all day on Monday, which might let everyone save up their server hits and AP? Let's try to work it out and do this thing, baby...
-
Hmmm... Given the time zone differences and so forth, it might not be realistic for all of us to be on at the same time. Perhaps we should establish some objectives for the team members to fulfill in a certain time frame instead? Either way, we'll need a definitive list of who's in and what skills we currently have at our disposal-
-
Rex is a lvl 1 fire fighter. I just picked up a firstaid kit. I have wirecutters and am pretty handy with my pickaxe. I'm currently parked at St Benedicts hospital in Pitneybank.
-
This seems like a good idea: Skip Jones is level 2 Necrotech currently in possession of 1 revivification syringe. Also has 83 xp which is enough to buy diagnosis or medic, either of which would be useful if he could find some 1st aid kits. With a few more xp he could concievably pick up construction, which would allow him to build barricades and keep even door-opening zombies out.
-
Violet is a level 4 NecroTech employee, with Lab Experience, First Aid, and Body Building. Also 109xp to spend. I was going to save up and get some weapon skills, but now I am thinking Construction might be better.
-
My main character was a volunteer firefighter before this madness began, so he's well versed in using his fire axe and has medical training. He tends to level up fairly quickly with his melee and first aid training, and I plan on giving him Construction next level. He's got some wire cutters, a fuel can, and a crow bar. My cop, Solomon, should be doing a bit better now that he has an axe to back up his (almost always empty) pistol. He has four extra flak jackets, three extra shotguns, an extra pistol, should item trading get running soon. He's also got a pair of wire cutters and a cellphone. Both are about 20, 25 moves away from the theatre, so it's just a matter of sending whichever one you guys think is more useful.
-
Mine is level 1 NecroTech, with 10xp. I have two books, two newspaper, a fuel can, wirecutters, and a pistol. It doesn't look like many zombies are still hanging around here. Or maybe they're all inside the fort. We could go for a raid on the fort. Or there's a mall about ten clicks NNE that is also right next to a NT building, two PDs, two FDs, two autoshops, and two warehouse. We could mosey one up there and loot the shit out of the place. There's also a train station, a hotel, a bank, and a monument, but I don't know if those kinds of places are stocked with anything useful. Or we could head for the zoo. Might be fun there. I probably can't do monday. It's my birthday that day, I might not be on the computer much.
-
I'm a lv2 civilian with Necrotech employment (DNA extraction). Thanks for the revivification, Nickdanger. I feel much better now. And full. I'm going to hunt around for a DNA extractor, some first-aid kits and a weapon. Will stay in Edgecombe and try to return to the cinema or autoshop before my AP run out. Happy birthday for Monday, Mr. K!
-
Hm, I just picked up a GPS unit in the Necrotech building. It tells me the coordinates for whatever building I'm in. Not useful when you have a map but in case anyone is interested...
-
ARSE!!
-
I've got this poetry book I'm reading, but I never seem to get to the end of it.
-
I now have a spare dna extractor, and a needle. Once we get the ability to trade, you can have the extractor bashi, unless you find one before then. (and thanks for the birthday wishes) I think the poetry book is supposed to contain clues for quests, Chy. What's it say?
-
Oh god, I haven't been noting down anything.. just a lot of awful poetry. If I'd known it was something important I probably would have. I was expecting it just to finish, and give me some xp, or something. Blast! I'll copy & paste anything more I get from it.
-
"They groaned, they stirred, they all uprose, Nor spake, nor moved their eyes; It had been strange, even in a dream, To have seen those dead men rise." "A crowd flowed over London Bridge, so many, I had not thought death had undone so many." "And death shall have no dominion. Dead men naked they shall be one With the man in the wind and the west moon;" "This is the dead land This is cactus land Here the stone images Are raised, here they receive The supplication of a dead man's hand Under the twinkle of a fading star." "At the round earth's imagin'd corners, blow Your trumpets, angels, and arise, arise From death, you numberless infinities."
-
Each of those was 1 AP to read. I've gotten at least as many from the book before, I've no idea if they repeat at all.
-
"And death shall have no dominion. Dead men naked they shall be one With the man in the wind and the west moon;" That's not awful poetry! That's one of my favourite poems!
-
Alnedra, I went to art college with Frieda Hughes and once told her 'poetry is dead'. ;) That's how au fait I am with the muse. :D
-
livii is a level 1 (sigh) military with First Aid training (I can heal an extra 5HP with a first aid kit). My best weapon is a fire axe, I also have a lead pipe, a pistol with two bullets, three shotgun shells, a crucifix, a bottle of wine, and a bottle of beer. No, I'm not sharing the liquor. I say we either go to the fort, or the mall Skip suggests is a very good spot. I think I'll go scope out the mall now and see where we can hide. And happy birthday for tomorrow, Mr. K!
-
I've got no AP.
-
I went up to the mall, found nothing there but lots and lots of zombies. Might be a good place to go fight. I did find a first aid kit in a hospital though - if anyone needs healing, let me know! I think I can give you 10 HP, plus it gives me XP. I'm out of AP for the next while, though. Off to go rampage as my zombie for a bit. Grrargh. (Oh, and Alnedra, did you know that was a talking link? I'm sitting here running around fighting zombies and then this voice starts up. Whoa freaky!
-
Oh, I'm so sorry, livii! I had the link up for ages and heard nothing, but clicked on it again and heard it. I've been sitting here for the last few minutes grinning goofily while listening to it. I thought I was in a secure building but got killed by a zombie anyway. *sniff sniff* *blows raspberries at Chyren*
-
Now that I can log back in and see what I have... Items: 3 DNA Extractors 2 GPS Units 2 Shotguns (no shells) 1 Pistol Clip (No gun) 1 Fire Axe 1 Flak Jacket Assorted books, first-aid kits and syringes, and 50 AP. Woohoo! I'm going to go scavenging a bit, get the Construction skill, then come back and barricade the cinema, since it seems to be Team Mofi Central for the time being.
-
I'm now at the Billet Rd Fire station. It's a secured building. I've aquired a fuel can and a spray can and slapped a zombie around for a few. Only 46 exp so far. Any idea what I should beef up 1st?
-
Goddamit if we could trade, I could give you a pistol, you could give me a shotgun!
-
So we've got a couple of guys who can fight, and a bunch of us who are pretty much only good for healing and reviving. I suppose it would be most useful for us noncoms to hang out at (or make a point of returning to) certain set location to provide support when the fighting guys need it. Has anyone had a look in the fort yet?
-
Are we meeting at the Davenport Cinema? If anyone walking around the theatre says that "Stealth" was a cool movie kill them immediately...they must be a brain-dead zombie.
-
Point me towards danger...I'm ready!!!
-
I just went into the fort. There's about 20 or so zombies inside, and another 5 in the armory slowly chomping away at a handful of humans. I found myself a pistol and a shotgun shell in there. There's even more zombies lurking just north and west of the fort, the hospitals there seem overrun. Not a good area to run out of AP. I've barricaded the cinema. It takes quite a few AP to do it. There's levels of barricades, so far I've seen "loosely barricaded", "lightly barricaded" and "quite strongly barricaded". Maybe 3-4 AP per level.
-
Grover, it's the Mattravers Cinema (79,51) if you've got a GPS unit, 1 down from the far upper right corner of Edgecome if you're using the map.
-
Heh, looks like some have formed a government and created a hitlist of PKers.
-
Ohhhh, Edgecome has a place called "The Baxter Building". What are the chances that we could get help from Mr. Fantastic?
-
hehe
-
I can't do shit for hours, got only a handful of AP from reading that damn poetry book.
-
Watch out for that barricading, Vera. Turns out that if it gets *too* strongly barricaded it won't let humans in or out either. I think you have to attack a barricade to take it down. I was able to get into the cinema despite it being "strongly" barricaded, no problem. Hmmm... Do you think we could use the barricades to trap the zombies *in* the fort? That might be amusing
-
Oh no! The Council of Leaders may be corrupt ! (from the PKer thread) Here's where all this PKer stuff confuses me, actually. You're all full of righteous indignation at this character for punching another human three times and walking away. Apparently this crime merits execution, and you're pissed off that she has a human character and a zombie character. Or, worse, that she might be a spy of some sort, posting in both forums. Someone like Yuri, however, becomes a zombie, slaughters other zombies to help humans and gain XP, and then get nominated for a spot on the City Council. That's PKing, OOC nonsense and blatant munchkinism. If a zombie turns human and kills a bunch of humans, you hunt him down as a spy and/or a PKer - and occasionally post about how unfair it is that zombie players read your plans and how you need a secure IRC channel. When it's the other way around, you're fine because the advantage lies with you, and offer the guy a place on the Council of Leaders. I love this game more with each passing day.
-
Since all Daemmerung can do is fight, he's more than pleased to have you heal/support troops on his side. And strategically, it's the revivers who matter the most. All we axe/shotgun jockeys can do is buy time for the revivers.
-
Watch for JasonVorhees, axed me for 24hp.
-
Where did you meet him? I know this hungry zombie, see.
-
Around the Lowther Building in Pitneybank.. I'm headed to the Cinema in Edgecome. This is slooooow moving.
-
I'm working on getting my HP up right now. There's a hospital two blocks over if anyone needs first aid kits. I was down to 3HP, now up to 18.
-
I'll head over to the hospital tonight. I think I'll spend my XP on diagnosis, after all. I added JasonVorhees to the PK list so that the mighty Council of Leaders will deal with him as they will.
-
I'm currently outside the Sellek Way Fire Station, named after Malton's favorite son...Tom Sellek.
-
I popped on down to the firestation to get an axe. I also xtracted a massive amount of dna along the way, which is cool. I think PKers are integral to this game. It makes it more authentic. Any zombie experience isn't complete without the assholes that are as big a threat as the zombies.
-
Can't say I approve of the Council of Leaders... which is why I'm announcing the formation of the Malton Anarchist Front. Our first goal is to get a better name. Any ideas?
-
Any zombie experience isn't complete without the assholes that are as big a threat as the zombies. Wasn't that the premise of 28 Days Later? Ah, zombie movies.
-
Trac, do you still need healing? I have a first aid kit, and my l33t skillz give you an extra 5HP. Just say aye here and I'll pop 'round and help fix you up. :) Can't play right now otherwise unfortunately, but thanks Vera for helping barricade us in - this is all so awesome.
-
I'm inside the theatre...Where are the Snocaps?! I'm going to sleep for a bit and round up some stuff tomorrow. Thanks for the bitchin' fort.
-
Nah, save your first-aid kits for when we storm the fort. I'm having fun amassing HP and exploring while we decide what we're doing.
-
How about the Malton Orogulous Freedom Initiative?
-
How 'bout Mattravers Official (or Original) Filmloving Insurrectionist?
-
Wasn't that the premise of 28 Days Later? It's also a major theme of Night of the Comet, Land of the Dead, and some others that I get the names of mixed up. Many zombie flicks include a theme that there's always some shitheads that make the situation worse, usually from a selfish, exploitative motive. Yeah, the Council reminds me of Dennis Hopper's clan of lackeys in Land of the Dead. So what if we named ourselves "Cholo's Revenge"?
-
I was thinking about a MoFi tie-in, and I like the film society thing, but wouldn't want to compromise your location. I'm currently researching various groups, rosicrucians, carbonaris... Something secret and elusive - I'm gonna start a tagging campaign too, so I'm looking for quotes, as well as spray paint - but yet wonky and fun enough that anyone who wants to be a member automatically is.
-
Malton Orangutan Fetishists, Inc.
-
I have spray paint and I was thinking of a film tie-in...either "Rosebud was the sled" or "Save Ferris".
-
Oh my god, can I just say that the idea of a spray paint tagging campaign based on our group makes me...a little weak in the knees? (As my husband is currently saying every time I exclaim over this super-fantastic thread that has just been so much fun - NERD!) I just want to report that my zombie character levelled up! If you know my usual track record for games like these, it's like... a miracle. Now I have Death Grip, graargh. My zombie's a killing machine. Woo! My main character still blows. 57 XP. Since I'm military though, I can buy hand-to-hand combat skills with 18 more points...soon, my precious, soon. And then I will be able to get XP more quickly...
-
Oh, I didn't preview - "Save Ferris" would be abso-fucking-lutely awesome. I think it works perfectly.
-
I'm not sure if I want to tag Clappcot Cinemas or Club Noake.
-
I saw a BAD WOLF tag the other day. Made me laugh.
-
I've just entered Peppardville from the North with my axe/medic, and it's absolutely crawling with the undead from what I've seen.
-
You are standing outside Clapcott Cinema, a narrow concrete building with black crosses painted across its doors. The building's doors have been secured. Somebody has spraypainted Save Ferris onto the 'now showing' board.
-
Malton Ordo Familiaris Illuminati
-
Will you people stop LOOTING everything in site??? Can't find shit anywhere. :(
-
And before you say it: I know it makes no difference, I just like to complain.
-
We're not stationed in a good looting location anyway. We need to move closer to a mall. Some people, like tracicle, have the Shopping skill, but that skill can only be used at a mall. Right now that skill is totally useless to our members that have it. St. Lucy's Church (80, 44) is not far, and is close to a mall, plus 3 NT buildings, a PD, a FD, and still close enough to the fort to raid it and loot it. Also, it's close to a bank, a train station, and carpark, and a library. We could stock up on all kinds of loot. I put on the table that we should move HQ to St. Lucy's Church. It'll only take 7 APs to get there, plus how ever many to board it up. Plus we'll travel through the fort and rack up on XP along the way. Input?
-
I second the Church plan, we need to shore up our supplies before any attack. My spray paint slogan list: "Beware the 100 ton hammer!" "Obey 'Bashi!" "We did it!" (from twelve monkeys)
-
I just donated $5s to the Kevan fund, so no more IP limit for me. I love the fact that some group of nabobs has declared themselves the Council of Leaders, its perfectly pretencious in that ridiculous post-apocalypse way. Perhaps they should try PKers by Thunderdome?
-
I vote against the Church for the simple reason that you can't close its doors, so until a carpenter comes along the lowest zombie can lurch in at any time. And can you build a barricade in a church? How about the Davenport Cinema instead? It's at [81,43], just one block North-East of the church, so it's still near everything. Right now my fireman is about 5 blocks away, so I can go over in a few hours and check things out.
-
"Break a deal, face the wheel!" Moving Team Mofi HQ is fine with me, to the church or maybe to the nearby cinema. I'm not sure which building would attract less zombie action. The only reservation I have is that Peppardville just north of the fort is heavily overrun, so it's only a matter of time before Pitneybank is, too.
-
Monkeys vs Zombies.
-
Death to him that thinks ill of it.
-
Ah, you already caught that - well, I saw the MeFi post and left a link to this thread in case anyone wanted to join us. The more the merrier, I say, tho' the MeFites don't seem terribly impressed by the game, which is their loss. Moving the HQ is perfectly fine by me, it was an early Fort-based suggestion that didn't take malls or long-term residence into consideration - I thought we'd be storming the Fort ASAP, but this whole having a HQ, waiting for other Monkeys and tagging and whatnot is infinitely more appealing, actually. If someone goes to scope things out, that would be really useful. I can move my character tonight.
-
My necrotech character is 32 blocks away. I just found this thread today via the MeFi thread. I've been playing for a week now and still only have 1 EXP. I am remarkably lame. I didn't realize until today that I could use the DNA extractor on zombies. Duh. I'll head over to the Davenport Cinema. Tomorrow probably. I'm all out of AP today.
-
Well, I'm ion edgecomb, moving slowly up towards peppardville and pittneybank. Let me know where the Monkey HQ will be. I'm a medic, and i've got a gun. For the moment i'm hanging out at chanter alley police department.
-
I just checked the map - I'll be passing a few necrotech buildings along the way, so I figured I'd stop in to see what I could find. It might take me a few days to get to the Cinema.
-
Ok, i'm called freen, and i'm hanging out in St Laurence's Hospital. I'm a medic, have 5 bullets, and that's about it. If anybody stops by, say hello. I'm waiting for more AP.
-
I haven't scouted the area around the church yet, however there's a zombie buffet going on close by in the Hunter Building at (81,49). *picks teeth, whistling innocently* This particular building wasn't barricaded. That would probably keep all but the most determined zombies out, since it takes almost a full charge of AP to take one down.
-
The more the merrier indeed! Today will probably be the last day I can play for a little while as I'm heading out of town for the week. I'll use my last few AP's to get to wherever MoFi HQ will be and then sit quiet.
-
I am Loto the Awesome, and am at the Theater now. Yeah fireman! I get an axe!
-
I'll be away for the week as well. Currently I'm the zombie standing outside Mattravers Cinema. Will be back Friday night! Grragh.
-
I am also over at Davenport Cinema (81, 43) with a nefarious sounding player named "people killer".
-
I wasn't aware that you couldn't close doors at a church. But we do have a carpenter. Anyways, I'm down for the switch to Davenport Cinema. I like that better, actually, I was just trying to keep it close to the fort. Yeah, that neighborhood has a chance of being overrun, so does the one we're in now. Our current HQ is much closer to zombie HQ than our new HQ. Just like any zombie movie, I do think we need to get to the mall. If that location does get to much scrutiny from the undead, we can always move to another mall. Tonight when I have more AP I'll head up and check it out. Or maybe I'll create a character at a school computer, and start in that hood to scope it out. I can then abandon it in front of another building as a decoy. (Freen, you shouldn't linger at the hospital long, zombies check them often, same with PDs, NT buildings, etc)
-
Scouted the Giddings Mall. There are already a BUNCH of folks in there. I am going to retire for the day in Davenport Cinema. Hopefully, "people killer" will not live up to their name.
-
I'd watch outl, Mr.Hazard, the esteemed "Council of Leaders" may set you up for "summary execution" with a name like that. We'll give you safe harbor you, though.
-
Oh no, NickDanger, I am not "people killer". I am hanging with "people killer". Someone hold me.
-
Trac, I just restored you 10HP because I wanted to see how many XP I got for my first aid kit, and I had a couple. It gave me 5 and so now I only need 4 more points to level-up within my class, so if anyone else wants 10HP from my other kit, let me know and I'd be happy to use it on you, because then I could buy myself better fighting skills. I'm out of AP and have to get back to my work, but I'll pop by later to see if anyone wants it.
-
I just joined up as Perplexor - a crappy level 1 necrotech. Hopefully I can be of some help! Any advice on getting XP? So far, most zombies seem to have already had their DNA extracted - only one success out of many tries. Haven't found any items at all, despite searching in the hospital and necrotech labs. I did get some XP from reading my book though.
-
adrianhon, try to find some 1st aid kits, (by repeatedly searching in a hospital) you'll get 5xp per time you heal someone else, and there are generally lots of people who need healing. Other than that, I'd suggest that you keep trying with your DNA extractor. I think that your best bet might be using it on zombies soon after 12:00am GMT as that's when the server rolls over to the next day (can't verify this from my own experience, but that is when IP hit levels refresh.)
-
livii, I have the diagnosis skill, and it looks like the following Monkeys need some healing: Chy(42 hp), Knickerbocker (44hp), and Rex Mantooth (36hp). Also of note: apparently the metafilter posting is to blame for the lagginess of the game. Damn you, Metafilter! Damn you to Heck!
-
Also, tracicle is at 38hp.
-
Hey, Alnedra! Should I revive you? I'm not sure if you're still around, and I don't want to just set you up for quick death.
-
NickDanger, your 12 Monkeys references made me realize that that is a great name for our group. It's a film reference without being an obvious reference to our location, and it's a monkey reference without pionting zombies to this site and this thread. Or maybe we can call ourselves ">12 Monkeys" or "12+ Monkeys" or "13 Monkeys" just cause 13 is a cool number or "23 Monkeys" because 23 is like ten cooler. livii, if you're going to heal me, knock some life off me first. That way the extra healing isn't wasted, plus you get a little more XP for taking 4HP off of me. I'm a gonna make a break for the Cinema sometime late tonite/early tommorrow morning. We have some non-monkeys hanging out with us in Mattravers. Should we tell them about the move? (I think so. We already have recruits into our gang that way) It could be a message like "A banana stash has been found at the Davenport Cinema." And then we all leave.
-
I healed tracicle up to 48, and Rex Mantooth up to 46. There's not too many zombies outside, one in front of the cinema, and a couple of others at the club one up and one over.
-
My two guys are in the cinema. Nanook is a level 1 military scout and Nobuku is a doctor with 4 first aid kits, if anyone needs healing. One of the zombies in front of Club Noake is mine too.
-
Daemmerung moved to the Davenport Cinema. He did a little axe-work en route, but otherwise saved his action points for late tonight. I'll check back in around 7AM UTC. There are presently several solo zombies along the way. Possible easy pickings if you can stand the server lagginess.
-
I'm on my way! But I had to take refuge in a lightly barricaded school...
-
islander, be wary about playing two characters together - it's against the rules and you might get your accounts deleted if Kevan notices. That would suck. I'm going to head over to Davenport tomorrow; not enough AP until then, I don't think.
-
Also made it to the Devenport Cinema. There seems to be a fair number of zombies on the way, though. A couple masses of six in near by blocks.
-
livii, I'm playing them independently - just parked them in the same place for now.
-
Oh good islander - I wasn't accusing you or anything, I'm sorry if that came across wrong, I was just worried that you might not know and get banninated. I could easily be the MoFi Mom or something, always worrying about other players. "Are you wearing a warm enough sweater?" "Are you staying away from those zombies - they're a bad influence!" That sort of thing.
-
>they're a bad influence! If your friend jumped off a bridge and then rose horribly from the dead to walk the earth hungering for brains, would you do it too?
-
Thanks for the concern, Mom! :-) (I'll clean up my room as soon as I've finished playing this game.)
-
Made it to Davenport. Picked up a flaregun and tried searchng the Armory, but to no avail.
-
Zombies attack San Francisco!!!
-
I'll be moving my character to an undisclosed location for the duration of my vacation, just in case some raiders happen upon this thread or something.
-
My favorite post from the PK execution list thread: David Wiley. A name that is good to hear. DO NOT KILL DAVID WILEY FOR HE IS A ON A MISSION FROM GOD! He is on a mission to kill all the unclean humans left on earth. He is a holy man, and you should consider it an honor to be kiled by him.
-
Eddie "Spoon" Johnson is a poor ol' cosmetic surgeon type out somewhere in Kinch Heights, slowly making his way towards the beacon of light in the distance that is the Davenport Cinema. I've got two medkits, a syringe, a flare gun and THE WILL TO LIVE.
-
I healed tracicle again and I have now...levelled up! W00t for in-skill classes only costing me 75XP! Looking forward to seeing you chrominance, since you made me laugh. The will to live is good. Very good. :D I'm still inside Mattravers because I won't be able to play again for a while and so I wanted to stay where it's barricaded; I know where you're all going, so don't wait for me if you want to make the move soon (which is a good idea), I'll catch up later.
-
I've moved over to Davenport now, and barricaded the doors. :-)
-
I'm in Davenport now. I managed to knock the zombie outside down to 3 HP before coming in. I hope Knickerbocker lasts the night outside.
-
I made it inside. I'm down to 34HP. I wish I had checked here first, I'da swung my axe at the zboy awhile before I ran inside. I got stuck outside before I had to go do birthday stuff. Oh well. I at least I survived.
-
"'Gainst death, and all oblivious enmity Shall you pace forth; your praise shall still find room Even in the eyes of all posterity That wear this world out to the ending doom." "Those who have crossed With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom Remember us -- if at all -- not as lost Violent souls, but only As the hollow men The stuffed men." -- ok I recognise that one.
-
Ooh, wirecutters and another fire axe. I can't seem to gain experience points.
-
Military survival guide by the guy who did the Scientist one. Fanfic warning remains.
-
Crap. I'm now a zombie. Figures - just when I was starting to get experience points by using the DNA Extractor. Ah well... Brrrraaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnsssss...
-
I came over to Davenport, hello Monkeys! Dayfat, wish I'd been following that earlier. Well, my method of half-assed ignorance has been amusing, so, that's alright. And MsVader, you get more XP as a zombie anyway I found, so long as you can find characters to chomp on (and there's lots of noobs around), so try to get a bunch of XP and then have one of us revivify you, and then you can level up as a human.
-
I can revive you MsVader. Whenever you're ready, tell me where to meet up with you. (Not too soon, though, I don't have the AP).
-
I made it to the cinema! (Though it took all of my AP to figure out what I was doing. I'm slow sometimes.) I haven't played a game like this since I played Transylvania for the original Mac back in high school. Oh, I've named my firefighter character Milly Stinkypants.
-
meredithea, I don't see you here, are you at the right theater? The Davenport? We're in the process of moving HQ there, though not all have made it yet.
-
There were a couple of zombies hanging around outside the cinema when I checked just now, which was slightly concerning. I loped around the surrounding blocks picking up a book and DNA extractor. Noticed that the Library (or somewhere nearby) has a bunch of zombies inside it along with the humans. Luckily our barricade is still 'quite strong'
-
We really need to barricade up some of the nearby buildings, so this one doesn't stand out so much. My next skill purchase will be for construction, so that I can help out doing this. Right now, I think our only carpenter is Violet. VeraGemini, do you gain experience for barricading?
-
Mwa Ha Ha! I ate the GumboPages.com guy! That'll learn him to not post the chords and tabs for 'A Ghost is Born'! Some guys with the prefix OT in their name snuffed one of my zombies; are people starting guilds? And plus: Would you be able to make outgoing links using the spraycans if you enclosed your graffiti in HTML tags?
-
Just killed the two zombies outside of the Davenport. I'm one xp away from 2nd lvl. Any suggestions for a fireman?
-
Alas, no experience for barricading. Setting up some of the nearby buildings as decoys is a good idea.
-
The mattrevers cinema barricades seem to have been weakened.
-
Ack! I didn't read far enough down before I moved. I'm at the old HQ, though I'll move to the new one as soon as I get enough AP. I take it it's a bit north and east of the Mettravers cinema?
-
Thanks for the HP, livii et al. I feel a whole lot better now. I'm on my way to the cinema right now, and I might go browsing for weapons/first aid kits. If we decide to hit a mall later, I'll get the shopping skill on my next level-up. Hopefully trade can't be far away.
-
I'd suggest you'd stick with melee, gover96, and purchase Hand-to-hand combat next. With mine, after I did that I branched out into defensive skills like Body Builder and First Aid and Diagnosis. It's two blocks to the East, eight blocks to the North, meredithea. How many people have Construction now?
-
If we decide to hit a mall later, I'll get the shopping skill on my next level-up. Hopefully trade can't be far away. You have the shopping skill already tracicle. Unless someone else is playing a character called "tracicle". How many people have Construction now? I think only Violet has it. It'll be my next purchase, because we need more carpenters.
-
I'll be happy when the ability to trade opens up.
-
I'll shamble on over to the HQ for some revivivivivivification. May take a while though. I may have to stop along the way for some more brraaaiiiinnnnnssssss...
-
I'm in the HQ, just killed a zombie... and, um, I don't get it. I'm out of action points, so I guess I'll play more later.
-
That previous comment was from me; I forgot to log out of SK's account.
-
I don't get it It's a game of Reversi with RPG aspects.
-
I made it to the (right) cinema! I'm a firefighter, so I have an axe and wirecutters, and I picked up a first aid kit if anyone needs it.
-
"I sought my death and found it in my womb, I lookt for life and saw it was a shade, I trode the earth and knew it was my tomb, And now I die, and now I am but made. The glass is full, and now the glass is run, And now I live, and now my life is done." "Because I could not stop for Death -- He kindly stopped for me -- The carriage held but just ourselves And immortality." when's this fuckin' poetry book end? And what use is it? "Sightless, unless The eyes reappear As the perpetual star Multifoliate rose Of death's twilight kingdom The hope only Of empty men."
-
I'm the zombie outside of the Norgan Library if anyone wants to come rez me. It's right next to a Necrotech building, so I could immediately go search the place after breathing new life...
-
Of course, I have no AP left, so maybe now isn't the best time to do it. What time are you all usually active? I normally check in sometime in the morning (EST).
-
Maybe we should coordinate by international time, like GMT or something.
-
Sorry, Mr K. I meant the Bargain Hunting skill, I think. I originally wanted my character to be a Valley Girl. :)
-
JasonVorhees axed you for 24 hp, you say, grover? My zombie found him inside the hospital at (83,47), and is finding him crunchy and good with ketchup. (He's currently down to about 24 hp himself.) Violet is stocked up with 4 first-aid kits, but no Diagnosis yet. Anyone in the Davenport who needs a little healing, let me know.
-
Update: I (Perplexor) did a bit of scouting and DNA extraction, netting a bunch of XP. The hospital and the necrotech building to the south have both had their barricades broken down and have several zombies inside. There are a number of zombies roving around in general - I suspect it's only a matter of time before they start attacking our cinema... Plus, one of them had the gall to attack me for 4HP while I was moving around!
-
I could use a little healing VeraGemini. Chy, it doesn't seem like that poetry book contains much that's useful. It might just be filled with zombie poem quotes. Plus it's starting to make you sound like beeswacky. Maybe after the next major update it might be more useful, but right now I don't think it worth the effort to keep reading it. I found a group of refugees two blocks away, in the Higgdon Building to the east. The place is boarded up pretty tightly, and there's about 7 survivors hiding out in there. I think that as we start barricading up buildings, they'll slowly fill up with refugees. So we should also determine our name, and tag the safehouses we create. This way, we can get people actively and intentionally joining our camp. I think our army should be pretty strong by Friday afternoon. Plus lots of the zombies will probably be logged out the whole weekend, if they're playing from work. We could launch a strike on Creedy on Friday afternoon. Thoughts?
-
Sounds good. I'll do my best to be there for the attack. What timezone are you thinking in, Mr K?
-
That's our first order of business, deciding on timezone usage, cos otherwise we'll have a hell of a time working out when everyone is active. I would imagine everyone knows where they are with respect to GMT, as opposed to me, tracicle & the Poms trying to figure out how many hours we are out from fucking EST, PST, PMT, LSD or whatever other weird ass time shit you got.
-
GMT is certainly easiest. We could call it UTC, just to annoy everyone. (Of course, Friday afternoon for me is then the wee hours of Saturday morning, but still.)
-
I may not be super reliable this weekend because I have family visiting, but I will do what I can!
-
Yeah, guess I'll save up my AP then, stop reading that stupid friggin book.
-
You down with UTC? / Yeah, you know me Who's down with UTC? / Every last monkey
-
The hospital is under serious, serious zombie attack. There's at least 10 in and around there, with a call for reinforcements posted on the Urban Dead zombie boards. They might overlook our theater, and they might not, we should be prepared to high-tail it, however.
-
Looked pretty empty, except for 7 'bies on Heritage Lane, two blocks to the west. Make that 6...I'm like Paul Bunyon with that axe. The mall and police station looked pretty well barricaded.
-
I'm thinking in Hawai'i timizone, which is pretty much Kiwi timezone too. The servers operate on GMT, and resets things (like DNA scans) at midnight. I think the best time to strike would be about a half hour after that. I think we should strike at about 00:30 GMT [14:30 (2:30 pm) Hawaii ST]. I tried to do some time conversions for other locations, but we don't have daylight savings time, and the international dateline also gets me mixed up. (It's wednesday right now, to me. What day is it in Oz?) For most of the mainland (NAmerica), this will be just around sunset, and just after getting of work. Hopefully, most zombies are playing from work. Stock up on as many needles as we can. We can use them on the zombies, severely weakening them, and forcing them to leave and go jump off a building in order to remain a zombie. Save at least one or two for emergency reviving of monkeys. Sometime that day, we should send someone by the mall. Give them a quick shout about the attack, might get some reinforcements that way. There'll probably be some suspicion, if reinforcements do arrive, it'll be after we've done most the ass whooping. But we'll need people with APs to show up and help defend the place after we've taken it. (because of my date-line confusion, maybe saturday is a better day?)
-
UTC = GMT, correct?
-
I'm talking about evening for North America, afternoon for Oz and Asia, and late night for Europe.
-
GRRRR!!! /head explodes
-
*blows smoke from barrel, revives Chyren with needle*
-
Yes, math is bad... at least in my head *sigh* If someone could tell me times in N. American Eastern time zone (or just tell me how many hours to add from whatever time zone we determine as our standard) I'll give you a pony.
-
Here this. Start of with 00:30:00 GMT. I don't know how to get the day right with it. You should probably get around 8 or 9:30 at night I think. Can I have my pony well-done?
-
I just killed a zombie in the library. I hope that wasn't Ms Vader. In addition to barricading other nearby buildings, try not to attack a zombie without killing it. If it has Scent Trail it can follow you back to the theatre, but I've heard that if you kill it it loses you. I was reading about an assault on Fort Creepy a few days ago. It went well... at first. Some things to note is that getting into the armory isn't difficult, keeping the zombies out is. We'll need to have several people with Construction. We'll need to be at least level 3+. We need medics with medkits constantly healling. Fighters with lots of bullets. People need to be tossing bodies out as quickly as possible. There should be two or three shifts of active people repelling the zombies so that at any time, there's enough people with AP to withstand the onslaught. We need a better way to organize things during the attack, like an IRC channel.
-
Midnight GMT is 7:00pm ET, 6:00pm CT, 5:00pm MT, 4:00pm PT. I think UTC is one hour ahead of GMT, assuming my little multi-clock widget is correct. I want a purple one, with sparklies in the mane, please. :-D
-
Oh, and there's currently 18 zombies in St. Benedict's Hospital, so I'd defintely stay away from there.
-
dayfat, we could meet here before the attack. This one should probably be a dry run, to see how it goes. Make sure our co-ordination is together, and see how the plan works in general. Then we run back, leaving the armory empty and barricaded. We can see how long it takes for them to react on the weekend. This will give us a week to ensure everyone has atleast one needed skill: Diagnosis: for healing monkeys Lab XP: for reviving monkeys/ thinning out the zombie horde Construction: for building and repairing the barricades
-
Mr. Knickerbocker and VeraGemini: pony pony pony!
-
True conversation: Space Kitty: You're playing the zombie game? I thought you were scared of zombies. the_bone: It's text-based. I never have to see the zombies. (Oh, and I'm out of bullets. What now?)
-
Run!
-
Thanks for the heal VeraGemini. thebone, you can find more ammo at PDs and the armory. Though if you don't have any gun skills, its better to stick with a fireax.
-
I have Diagnosis now, the heals on Knickerbocker were enough to push me over 75xp. The area right around the theater is ominously zombie-free.
-
I know. It's quiet. Almost too quiet. Saving up AP to go collecting first aid kits and attempt to level up. I'm down for a takeover of the armory, as long as we're semi-ready.
-
I am now outside the Davenport Cinema. If someone wants to revive me, please let me know via IM (see profile - either AIM or Yahoo), and I'll log on immediately so that I can get inside. At the present time, I'm the only zombie outside the cinema, but there is also a dead body here. I am very weak right now (9 HP), so it's possible that I might be another dead body by the time someone can help me. By the way - Daemmerung attacked me for 6 damage (along with Layne V who got me for 20 damage). Isn't that one of you monkeys? Thanks A LOT! ;)
-
MsVader, I'm going to revive you right now. I don't have an IM client to pass this along.
-
You've been revive, and healed some. I hope you check back soon.
-
Both of those were monkeys, btw Ms V. (I also tried to gain some XP from scanning you before I revived you, but someone had already tagged you today)
-
So I see... :) Thank you, Mr. Knickerbocker, I'm now in the Cinema and in need of more first aid. Once I'm up to a better level of health, I'll be ready for action.
-
I healed you once, MsVader. Right now I'm letting my AP build before I go up and check out the hospital in Spracklingbank at (80,36) and load back up on first-aid kits. Current zombie count in St. Benedict's at (83,47): 22. Also 3 live humans (down from about 30) and a whole stack of dead bodies. The zombies will be on the move again tonight or tomorrow, methinks.
-
Here's a question - I'm a L1 necrotech with only DNA extraction skills. Is it even worth me searching hospitals if I don't have the skill to use first aid kits or Lab experience? I've been to the hospital a few times recently and searched for stuff repeatedly, but haven't found anything, so I have a suspicion that all of this searching is totally futile until I have the ability to use this stuff I'm looking for. As a further point, when I've searched inside Necrotech buildings, I've picked up DNA extraction kits and books (which I can use).
-
I can prolly join in, though not sure. I'm going to be at Nika's Monkey Meetup Madness at that point, and by 7pm ET we might be out for dinner. I'm going to go looking for more first aid kits right now, to be more useful (I have two or three already), and will check back in later.
-
I now have 4 first aid kits, and it's one of my skills so I can heal 10HP with each one. I also have 25% chance with my axe of getting 3 damage, and I think 7 pistol shots, though only 10% chance with those. So, I can heal and fight.
-
Woo, I levelled up my zombie again! Now I have great hand attacks and I can walk as fast as you silly humans. Excellent. Plus, I'm at 2HP, but who cares? I can just stand up again. Hah! Playing as a zombie is fun. Though I do want the humans to win, but chomping on anonymous non-Monkey humans is very pleasing.
-
It's maybe even more worth it, from an XP point of view, to get and use first aid kits without the skill. What the skill does is allow you to heal for 10hp instead of 5hp, you get 5 XP per heal regardless. Without Lab Experience you can't use the revivification syringes, but I think you still find them. They're just labelled differently. (NecroTech or NanoTech syringe, I think? Instead of Revivification Syringe.) The only skills that affect scavenging for items, as far as I know, are Shopping and Bargain Hunting. Shopping increases your chance to find something in a mall only, and Bargain Hunting lets you see what the individual stores within the mall are.
-
yeah adrianhon, you still can use first aid kits without the skill, and some think it's better to not have the skill actually. The skill let's you heal more, but you don't get more XP from it, so that can be seen as a loss of XP if you wander around with 20 kits. You get XP from healing others, not yourself, so it's best to save your kits for other people. You can't use the needle yet, but you definitely should start stocking up on them. As a NT tech, you should buy Lab XP soon. At least by lvl 3 you should have it.
-
Pleeeeeease I need revivification. I am at Rawle Alley, next to the Groser Crescent Police Department in Pescodside. PLEASE REVIVE ME PLEASE.
-
tracicle, have you been by the mall yet? We could use some spray paint. Someone painted "Laser Squad Nemesis" out front. I think that makes us a target for some of the human gangs.
-
Pescodside? What the heck are you doing way up there? I don't think anyone can make it that far.
-
Urm, terribly sorry Ms Vader... please accept this offering of brains and cookies as a token of my sincerity.
-
Oh, a quick idea for the wiki... maybe this is just a symptom of my chronic laziness, but would it be possible to put a clock set @ GMT on the front page? I know clock converters are just a click away, but it may make synchronization that much easier.
-
Good idea, I'm going to put the suggestion into the wiki. tracicle, how cool are you with us using the mofiIRC to coordinate the attack tomorrow?
-
Fine with me, I hardly ever go there. I'm sure the #MofircSquad will be cool with it; they're all too busy playing Babble. :p
-
I just downloaded an IRC client in order to do that. 's a good idea.
-
Laser Squad Nemesis is a forum site for an XCom like game, it seems a lot of people on Urban Dead are from there. I think the tag is just a sort of ad for the site.
-
Oh, okay, I thought it meant we were the nemesis of some gang. Babble huh? That explains some of the strange comments when I stopped by there to see if it was still running. I'll update the wiki with the IRC address.
-
I just downloaded an irc program, just in case I'm around to help with the raid. Post here, too, or to the wiki so that those of us who can't play can read up on it!
-
Chatzilla is an IRC firefox extension.
-
I recognize that sloppy axe work as my own, MsVader. Please accept this fine first aid kit as a token of apology. It contains colorful dinosaur band-aids, which have been shown to be up to 25% more effective on owies than the non-dinosaur variety.
-
ack. I got greedy attacking zombies for XP and didn't leave enough AP to get back into the cinema (I was stuck outside). I lasted 20 mins before I was relieved of my sweet sweet brains. Then I got attacked by monkeys and had to run away to the junkyard. If I move back outside the front could someone revive me?
-
If you get knocked down by monkeys, just stand up again. What are they going to do, kill you? You're already dead. Funny thing happened to my zombie character, who ran out of APs while gnawing on a soldier. During my absence, a passing Necrotech healed my victim, tagged my zombie, then revived her. Immediately thereafter, passing zombies re-killed my ex-zombie, restoring her to undeath. When I logged back into the character, all of this activity flashed by... with the net result of no change.
-
It was the first time I had died so wasn't sure what would happen, also moved because I didn't want to attract unwanted attention to the cinema. There were 2 groups of 6 zombies a few squares away at the time. I'll hang around for about another 30 mins and then probably retreat back to the junkyard for the night
-
I'm going on a needle raid in an hour or so. Will you be around to revive then?
-
Normally I would but I can't stay up any longer (if I'm late for work tomorrow I'm going to wish I'd been chewed up by zombies). I'll play in the junkyard until tomorrow.
-
Just upgraded to L2 with Lab Experience. How many searches do you normally have to do to find something useful in the hospital or necrotech labs? I've searched about five times in each and found nothing... should I be spending more APs on searching? I wouldn't mind finding myself some first aid kits and needles soon. Incidentally, just after midnight GMT does seem to be the time to do DNA extraction, as someone else suggested. I got something like 50XP in a single patrol just by identifying a bunch of zombies.
-
The hospital in Spracklingbank is too heavily barricaded to get into right now. The one south of us that was under siege should be safe again in a day or two... all the humans inside had been cleared out when my zombie left this morning.
-
Okay. So you guys are in spracklingbank? Where should I go to get revived?
-
No, we're in Pitneybank right now. Start making your way SW from Pescodside. here's a map to help you. We're in the Davenport Cinema. If you can get there, park yourself in a square as close as possible, preferably where you're the only zombie, then post here and someone will pop out to revive you.
-
I just DNA-sampled a bunch of zombies west of the fort in a mad dash for XP, and levelled up. That area is totally overrun with undead.
-
I've gone wandering around looking for ammo, and found nothing (I'm a private, so I can actually use a gun). Bleah.
-
Oh, and how do you "level up?" I'm not usually this dense, I swear. You'd think that a childhood spent playing RPGs would better prepare one for this....
-
You get experience points by killing zombies, using a first-aid kit to heal other humans, using a DNA extractor to tag zombies (1 tag per zombie per day, and only works if you have the NecroTech Employment skill) reviving zombies (with a Revivification Syringe, again, only if you have Lab Experience), spray-painting certain buildings (if you have the Tagging skill) or reading books. Levels come automatically, I think you gain a level for every 100xp points? Something like that. Levels don't mean much so far, except that the Zombie Hunter skill is only available if you're level 10 or above. This reminds me, I'm thinking about writing a short article for the wiki that covers the game basics, since so many Monkeys are playing now.
-
VeraGemini: That would be awesome. I'm starting to wonder why I chose to be a firefighter. The axe is cool, but other than that it seems like a rather useless way to go.
-
Ms. Stinkypants, life as a junior firefighter is very simple. You walk up to a zombie, wail on it with your axe until it falls, then retreat to a safe place to recover. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Start each outing with a full load of APs, if you can, so that you can finish your zombie in one pass and so claim the kill bonus (and also so that it doesn't track you back to your lair). This is easier once you buy the skill Hand-to-hand, which you will want to do immediately upon attaining 2nd level. With firefighters, you waste no time searching the Labs for syringes, or Hospitals for first aid kits, or PDs for ammo. It's just you, your axe, and the nearest deadie.
-
I've started said Wiki entry. Just the bare-bones outline for now, and if anyone who has the fighting skills that I don't wants to enter them on the list, or any other additions, please do.
-
I think there are two different wikis people are talking about in this thread. Maybe some should check their email.
-
Wow VeraGemini, that's impressive. I'd add more, but it looks like you know more than I.
-
Made a trip to the Necrotech labs and used up about 15APs searching - found two syringes, two GPS units and a newspaper! So clearly repeatedly searching does work, but there's a lot of luck involved.
-
goetter: Thanks! Life seems much simpler now! Just me and my axe ... :)
-
I just realized there are two wikis going on! I added links to both on each wiki in the "links" section (if that makes sense). If we'd rather not have them linked to each other, feel free to delete them, but I thought the links could lessen some confusion.
-
I'm outside the cinema now if anyone is available to revive me?
-
Skip Jones update: I've been holing up at the Necrotech building in Edgecombe, using my AP's to search out syringes. So far I've found five. Today, however, near-disaster struck. A character named Nekumatic began ventilating my head with his axe and I've been forced to seek out other shelter. I first ran to the Matraver cinema, only to find that its barricade has been eradicated and all monkeys are gone. Without knowing precisely where I was going, I sought out the Davenport, but wound up wondering idly through the suburb east of Edgecombe instead. I'm currently holed up in a club near a way-too-heavily-barricaded Necrotech building, but I'm worried I won't be able to check back over the next few days. If I get zombified (likely) what are the chances of revivification at this point? Like I said, I've got 5 syringes myself, so If I survive I can hopefully be of assistance. Good luck Monkeys!
-
I think we need a last minute change of plan for the assault planned. It seems most of the Armory zombies have shambled over to the NT building and hospital to the south. I think we should strike there. If we strike at the NT lab, we'll have a supply of needles and med kits during the assault. This also could be more of a permenant victory, as they won't be as interested into holding onto these buildings as the armory. NickDanger, Edame, if you two make it to the assualt location, you have a pretty good chance of being revived just on accident. Skip Jones will be very useful in the assualt, so hopefully you can be there with AP to spare when it happens tonight.
-
btw, I'm talking about the Farmer's Building and St. Benedict's Hospital.
-
Motion seconded. I like the idea of retaking the Farmer Building after its loss a few days ago. Also, it's closer.
-
lots of zombies there, I'm at the hospital now. Is this also being planned on the wiki?
-
I just added a Farmer Assault section to the wiki. Let's take it there.
-
Yeah, I was at the Farmer's Building yesterday and it was overrun, I was attacked three times just searching for syringes. I have one syringe, so if I can identify Skip Jones, I'll revivify Skip and he can revivify Edame. Unless someone else gets there first. I'm hoping to get there at around midnight GMT, which is lunchtime for me.
-
I played at 00:15 GMT yesterday, and the servers had not been reset yet. So I failed to gain any XP.
-
I don't see Skip Jones on the wiki. Has he found it? Same with Chy, Violet, and some others.
-
Argh. I only have 8 AP left after an unsuccessful search at the NT lab earlier today. I am useless to you Monkeys. Have fun storming the castle!
-
I'm on the other wiki now. The link I got in email didn't work, for some reason, the link in the Mofi wiki did. I have two syringes left, for any zombified monkeys. I just popped outside and barricaded the auto parts store 2 right (empty) and the NT building 3 right (full of surviviors) as decoys. There's a few zombies shuffling around nearby, not too many. Edame, there's two zombies outside, one of which might not be a Monkey. Since we can't target with the syringes, if you move to any empty square and post here, I'll pop back out and hit you.
-
My character (Tziek) is a zombie because i made the unfortunate accident of running out of AP in a room with 4 zombies. I'd like to meet with ya all and hopefully get revivified... i'm outside the hambidge building in Molebank, and i'm a level 5 with basic, pistol, shotgun, hand to hand and vigour mortis, as well as a lot of ammo. How nice, I just got revived... 7 hp left. :) I need 26 movement points to get there and into the cinema though... only 8 at the moment.
-
I'm right below the autoshop (83,44)
-
i'm in the fowles plaza PD in pegton, se of some cinemas in edgecombe, since i couldnt find you guys... no ap left and i hit my limit somehow.
-
You're revived, Edame. :-)
-
Ta very much. *picks brains from teeth*
-
Roll call on IRC
-
Teh wha? We got a channel?
-
It's linked to in this thread, Draze. I can't dig it up right now, because we're in the middle of the raid right now.
-
Gah! I (Nanook) just logged in but I don't have any server hits left. I guess the server hasn't been re-set yet. I'll wait a while and try again...
-
Yeah, I'm waiting for the reset, too. The attack was for right now because the server reset was supposed to happen already.
-
The building has one zombie left with 36HP. The doors have been secured, and the windows boarded up wuite securely.
-
The IRC.
-
OK, I feel like a dumbass... When I click the above link I go nowhere. How do I use IRC?
-
I'm not getting the hang of this. Bleah. I'm out... have fun, guys. [grover: you have to download an IRC client, such as mIRC, or the extension Chatzilla if you have Firefox and a Mac. There are useful links at the bottom of the FAQ page. The usual MoFi channel is #mofirc, but it looks like #mofi is being used for the game]
-
We've been breached! Man the whatsits! Do something with the battlestations! [grover: you don't need a mac to use chatzilla]
-
I didn't make it to the storming in the end, sorry. Family event and preparations thereof took precendence over preventing the zombies from world domination. The cinema is obviously still safe enough, I take it? How did the raid go?
-
You weren't there, man! You weren't! I can still smell them! *Curls up into a ball of whimpers and frustrated tears...*
-
Grover96, I too am teh IRC n00b. Seeking the very least intrusive Windows client, I downloaded TinyIRC Free. Server irc.slashnet.org, your mofi nick as username, your urbandead nick as alias, /join channelname (first #mofirc, later #mofi last night) as first command. Fancier clients insinuate themselves into your system for irc: URI schemes such as Mr. K's link, but I like simple. (For future reference.) Tracicle, the cinema is still secure. Our raid was educational more than anything else. Got in, revived or disabled all zombies but one, and barricaded. Lost our barricade a couple of hours later and subsequently retreated to the cinema (the main concern here being not leaving a scent trail). Net/net, we took no casualties and revived one or two zombies. Tactical details are on the wiki. Some initial lessons learned: - we could have used a few more hands. Need to break down who actually was in the assault before we can calculate our effectiveness. I think Mr. K took roll call. - obviously, the more AP you have in toto, the better off the assault fares. (Though I do not regret having burned a few obtaining Construction before our assault) - IP rollover does not happen at midnight GMT! This hindered some members, who had AP but couldn't apply them - need to save a few AP for renewing barricades and/or tactical retreat. Very hard call when there's one wounded zombie still standing - think of a hit from a zombie as an opportunity to see whether it has Scent Trail - the pacing of sustained engagements is peculiar. I entrained much of my Friday evening around this, checking in every couple of hours between other activities. Each visit was brief, but all together they spread out over a fair span. A luxury. Might actually work well at a party if you could circumvent the IP limitation. - for some reason the #mofirc denizens didn't appreciate having their channel full of KILLKILLKILLKILL AHHH ITS CHOMPING MY BRAAAAIN messages. Next time we'll start elsewhere....
-
When I was able to work around the server reset, I had 29ap and 3 zombies sitting next to me. I had been struck for 2hp, but that was it. I used up ap searching, and found 2 needles that I used on the zombies. Both were dedicated zombies, each with MoL, but neither was that Mort Whatsit character. I shut the doors and ran back to the cinema.
-
Lessons learned: * The server reset doesn't happen at 00:00GMT. Even by 02:15GMT the reset still had not happened yet. That really hurt us. We need more accurate info on the reset. * It took them about twenty minutes for the zombies to react to the attack. That was pretty dang fast. All the ones that did react were outside, while we used up ap inside on nonthreatening ones. * We only lost about 10hp between the whole lot of us today, and that was with many of us being stranded for hours after the zombies broke in. It costs them so much to break in, and they don't have as many APs at hand, since they aren't really shoring up for an assualt. They just spend their APs as they get them, 10 or 20 at a time. * Many things went wrong with todays assualt. Half the group didn't show, the server didn't reset as expected, and many of us were stranded for hours after zombies retaliated. Yet after all that, we weren't really hurt at all. We can take them, easy. The things that went wrong can be fixed, and we should all be atleast one level up by next assault. I think we can secure Farmer's permanently. Ideas for the next assualt: * Better timing for the reset (though that maybe what kept some from responding, too). * Run in and board it up to the absolute max, beyond the ability to leave. We know they'll weaken to the point where we can cross, and we won't really have need of leaving while it's fully barricaded. * After it's locked tight, sit it out. I one of the inside zombies becomes active, we handle it. Otherwise we sit and wait for them to start pounding on the doors. As they pound, we rebuild. It's an AP conservation contest at this point. Our carpenter's should spend absolutely no AP on anything besides building. All other things need to be handled by the rest of us. * More needles. We started off with just one needle. The needles are GREAT weapons against the zombies, we don't really need them for us. A newly revived zombie is no threat, it has no attack skills alive. To re-zombie, it'll have to jump from the building, trapping it outside. If it stay human and attacks, we can either let try, or kill it and drag it outside. And there's also a good chance that the zombie is someone who wants to be revived. Each NT tech we have should try to keep three needles set aside for next assualt. * Those who can't revive or build should stock up on medkits. You can do double duty as healers, and as fighters if needed. Your AP will be spent the slowest, so any needed action that's not barricading or reviving should be done by you. * I've heard freerunners can enter and leave any building, no matter the level of barricading. I think this would be a good skill for our builders to get next. This would allow us, if things go bad, to rebarricade one last time, to the max, and dissappear, leaving the building deserted when the zombies break in.
-
Chy, you killed me! *cries* I'm in Mattravers cinema. Making my way to Davenport now. Is that right? I'm a zombie, alas.
-
I think Mr. K took roll call Naw, that was just a message put here to remind monkeys to show up. I think we had about six or seven. Let's see: Me, Daemmerrung, Layne, blag, edame, bonesy... Anyone else? I think I'm missing one or two.
-
chrominance, pmdboi (recruited on-site from #mofirc - we should have asked him to start as a soldier). I see that Alnedra's now with us. She looks most fetching as a zombie, I must say. *flicks piece of barricade off of her tags*
-
s/tags/rags/
-
Mrh?
-
I think we did pretty well given the numbers we had. I ran out of AP pretty quickly as I'd spent a bit shuffling around as a zombie before getting revived. I was very surprised to find myself alive this morning considering how quickly I was taken down last time. I must have been asleep for a good 9 hours and only lost 2HP. One way around the server limit (which affected a few of us) is to use a proxy. This wouldn't help those waiting to re-tag the zombies though.
-
I also added a section to the wiki for name suggestions.
-
Even though they don't have doors you can close, I've discovered that you can barricade Churches to prevent zombies from wandering in. Also, there is a zombie inside the Junkyard to the West of Davenport.
-
After it's locked tight, sit it out. I one of the inside zombies becomes active, we handle it. The problem is, all zombies in a particular area stack together: we can't necessarily differentiate Fred the zombie from Charly the zombie when targeting, as the target UI just says "a zombie." Do you know if the active zombie happens to pop to the top of the stack? Otherwise, we could be beating on a quiescent zombie while the active one wails on us. Hence I think that we must clean out the interior immediately, expensive as that is. A newly revived zombie is no threat, it has no attack skills alive Unless it was packin' heat before dying. rebarricade one last time, to the max, and dissappear Very cute idea. I already have both free running and construction, and volunteer for the "set the charges" position on the next run. Pity we don't have explosives in the game yet.
-
Yeah, that went pretty well. I used up my AP within minutes through killing the zombies inside the buidling; in future attacks I'll hang back and wait until they've been healed to see if they're malevolent or not. That way I can save AP to repel invaders. I'm becoming a bit nervous about the cinema; there's an awful lot of us in there at the moment, enough to make us a tasty target. Was it Alnedra who knocked the barricades down? When's the next one? We should give a few hours notice to everyone in the cinema so they can join in too.
-
Where is our HQ again? I looked through the Cinema with 'save ferris' on it and the one northeast of it but all I found were a bunch of zombies, and i've got no ammo left. :\
-
Was it Alnedra who knocked the barricades down? Nope. By the time I got there, the place was wide open. Shall I go outside and attack the zombies around the area? Soften them up for you all?
-
Hmm. Worrying. I wouldn't worry about attacking the zombies just yet; let's wait and see what they do.
-
Sorry I missed the raid. I can't access the site right now, does the Davenport need re-barricading? What's up?
-
We're rebarricaded. Current status is in the wiki.
-
I'm still out of town, so I can't commit to any actions until after monday. My current plan is to load up on some 1st aid for use in a later assault. I haven't seen the wiki yet, and again, I won't be able to until monday. I think it's a great idea, however. Idea: Flares seem to attract zombies. Can we use this to our advantage?
-
The site is down. Argh!
-
Yeah, whats wrong with it? Also, I cant seem to find where were supposed to meet.My character (also Steve Harvey) is traveling eastfrom judgewood.
-
I killed someone? First I knew. Sorry I didn't turn up, I was outrageously drunk.
-
Well, I was a zombie then, so we can talk about extenuating circumstances and all that. But I'd much rather do this. >P
-
Steve Harvey: There are lots of us at Pitneybank, in Davenport Cinema. Try this map (linked earlier), it's got a route finder to help you as well.
-
Well I whacked a zombie a few times with me' axe the other day, but I didn't think I killed it.
-
The revived figure of Alnedra looks up at you, their cloudy eyes struggling to focus
-
Zombie porn! The site has been up and down all day: overloaded, I'd guess. Maybe /. or Fark found it?
-
Alright, Im heading in that direction now. There are few safe houses where Im at now... I might show up a zombie.
-
o you know if the active zombie happens to pop to the top of the stack? That's what I'm assuming. Otherwise that's a really bad design flaw. Like I'm going to attack the zombie that isn't biting me? Unless it was packin' heat before dying. There's a good chance that if so, they want to be alive. Most of the ones that want to stay zombie kill themselves awfully fast, so they can get back quickly to the brain eating. If this was a PD, the might spend some time looking for a weapon, but at Farmer's all they'll find is needles. Worst case scenario, that they''re quite a bad ass with an axe: They'll have low HP and a name we can target, we finish themoff and drag them outside. I like the term you coined. "set the charges" is a good name for the tactic. So a zombie beat down the barricades, opened the door, then ran away? hmmm
-
# cinerary1 said "Someone needs to help this poor zombie chap with revivication. I contacted one of my guys but he is 6 burbs away." (08-06 18:43 GMT) I'm taking this as a good sign. I don't really think she's a threat.
-
Yes! Muchos gracias, VeraGemini!
-
Can some tell me what time is displayed for my comment in the cinema? (It doesn't tell you when it's your own comment) I made it at 00:20 GMT, but there's a comment just before mine that says it was made at 01:05 GMT. I think their clocks are off. I want to determine how far off.
-
"Knickerbocker said "What time is it?" (08-07 01:21 GMT)"
-
Yeah, I think the server is operating on UK time but is mislabelled as GMT.
-
Yeah, it's mislabelled. Still doesn't explain the reset problem we had, though. This means the server should've reset sooner, not later.
-
Someone on the official forum was pondering whether the reset was done manually or perhaps even randomly within a range of times
-
Maybe someone could write a wiki entry on SwitchProxy.
-
There is a 'bie with Chy and Alnedra at Boxall two clicks north of the Davenport. I tried to smack it a round a bit, but ran outta AP. Someone might want to alert them or kill the bastard. Plus, there is a zombie in front of the Cinema...did anyone lose their undead?
-
I;m at the Cinema now. Running out of AP. Zombie is called Ex. Anybody we know, or should I whack him a bit before running inside?
-
Yeah site timed out as I was moving north.
-
And it's attacking me, too, and I can't seem to fight back, which is great.
-
And may I say I prefer calling 'em Zoms rather than 'bies,
-
And I escaped, but that Zom has earned my enmity. It chewed me.
-
I just went outside for a look - there are quite a few zombies meandering around. Two outside the Davenport. I know one is active because he took a bite out of me as I was trying to get in...
-
So Urban Dead was enough to get me to pipe up on Mofi, after lurking for some time and a few years on Mefi. Now my account's been validated, but the UD server won't go. Anyway, fuggle is currently in Sprackling bank, venturing down from Dulston, with some first aid kits, more ammo than he knows how to use effectively, a baseball bat, and a heart big as Texas. See you soon, I hope.
-
And may I say I prefer calling 'em Zoms rather than 'bies I like calling them zboys. Haole is a common Hawai'ian term that means "without breath". It's used to describe foreigners, especially white people. I think it's a great term for zombie. (I've been trying to come up with a movie script set here, 300 years ago, that has Hawai'ian's first contact with Europe is a ship full of zombies that's been drifting randomly for decades. It'll probably be called "Attack of the Haoles!!!".)
-
Need a collaborator? :)
-
Welcome, new zombie hunters all.
-
-
There seems to be a new gang called OT... dunno what it means. OT Torvald, OT Ripper, Meat Scout, Luiz, OT Guyman, OT hai17 are in the room (Fowles Plaza PD) right now, and dont seem to be PKers. Can I get a link to the wiki thing? Can't find it now.
-
Draze, it's Operating Thetan. I'm not sure if they're PKers, but they'll probably be zombie sympathizers. You know zombies were people too.
-
tracicle, I get that message, it usually takes about 2 minutes before it goes away. Comes back again after like 3-5 APs when it's at it's worst.
-
Mr Knickerbocker: I was joking about the "Operating Thetan" thing... it's a Scientology term. No idea what OT really stands for.
-
I had a dream I was covered in body thetans once, but when I woke up it was just zombies. That was the worst birthday ever.
-
I am one of two zombies outside the davenport cinema. please revive.
-
ALERT - the cinema's barricade is done and a zombie is inside!
-
I just revived the zombie. He's Chas Ackman - level 7, with pretty much every zombie skill there is. We have to fall back - I'm heading to Magg's Cinema myself.
-
What Cinema? The Davenport still looks solid, adrianhon.
-
I rebarricaded, but the revived Ches Ackman is still inside...
-
and looking for a flak jacket. After which I'm sure he'll jump out the window and return to the Davenport. Sounds like it might be a good time to move.
-
Woot! I (Nanook) have just killed Ches Ackman and dumped his worthless body outside. I'm out of APs now. No need to run away just yet but we should agree on a rallying point if evacuation ever does become necessary. Oh, and sorry Ms Vader, I inadvertently fired a couple of shots in your direction during the fracas. Both missed, fortunately.
-
I guess it's a good thing that when I went to heal Ches Ackman, 3 HP, that the site timed out.
-
Well, if he wasn't mad at us before, he is now! And now he's rezombied! That's it, I'm going to church! ;)
-
I'm stuck in Devonport till tomorrow; no more APs and movement allowed (I think NTL might have fewer ISPs). Just hope them zombies don't come knocking too soon.
-
...the church is kinda creepy when you're the only one there. I did up the barricade with a box of bibles, though.
-
Fanfic guide to playing zombies.
-
At around 02:00, I'll try and interact with every zombie outside, to give them my scent. I'll then lead them away to a false hidout, that I'll then board up (to the max, beyond my ability to leave) and hide in. This should allow everyone else to escape to the new place undetected. Any suggestions on where to mislead them? Right now I'm thinking either the Norgan Library or the Hunter Building.
-
(That's 02:00GMT)
-
It's like Shaun of the Dead. You better lose them properly, though. Both buildings are very, very close to the fort. You'd better keep a close eye on your character if you go there. What about the Pallaye Library?
-
I wanted to make a joke about starting a new thread because this page is too large, but teh archives don't work for me. I get "No input file specified." ^^;; Am I the only one who thinks that letting a zombie get back up almost immediately is rather unfair?
-
I can do the Pallaye Library. I'll have to stay away for 24hours, because that's how long my trail will last.
-
Call if you need reinforcements. I'll check in every now and then -- I have one syringe at least and can ineffectually whale on a zombie or two.
-
If you wail on a zombie, they might end up tracking you, too. I'll call if I need medkits. If they kill me, the can't track me any more. I have to wait for the reset first though. That way I can be sure of interaction with every zombie. If I don't use my extractor, I'd have to use my axe, with only a %10 to hit chance.
-
Are we sure those zombies have noses?
-
I got eaten by a zombie. It should take me twice as long to gt there now.
-
Ches has a nose.
-
Good luck, Mr K. Call if you need help and we'll be along to crack some Zombie skulls before you know it. Steve: I've got a medic with syringes in Mockridge Heights if that's anywhere near you?
-
I'm still parked in the Davenport. Getting too many server errors right now to really do anything. It seems the Goons from Something Awful have arrived on UD, too. So the traffic jam ain't all Metafilter's fault.
-
I was thinking I should say something to get their attention, like "Hey, over here!" or something similar. But it that won't work since these are smart zombies. But what if I said "They're still in there, go for it." or something similar to them? I think they'd either think I'ma zboy spy, helping them out, in which case they stayed and attacked the theatre, or they'd mistrust me and follow me to the new hideout, which won't be a hideout. I'm afraid that if I say nothing, they might not follow me at all, despite have my scent.
-
Well, I'm in the process right now. I got the "hello mefi" message right now. There were 3 zombies out front. None were Ches. One ran away already. I'm going to pass through the Farmer's and St. Benny's. See if I can lure more my way, and see if I can dig up Ches, and lure him, too.
-
Shit, there's a zombie in the library. I didn't think of that. I have 6 AP left. Suggestions?
-
The zombie in the library with me is: Name: Paulos Pre-death Class: Military Dead Since: 2005-07-28 06:51:46 Filed as #6801942/0 Your work is appreciated. I have barricaded the library to quite strong, and am now out of AP. We'll see what happens. One zombie can't be that tough, right?
-
I used up all my AP on him but he's still on 44. Hmm. This could be painful.
-
I wasted all but one bullet on Paulos. He's down to 39 now. Either of you two feeling uneasy about the fact that there's 20+ zombies in the neighboring blocks?
-
Yes.
-
Shall I head down and revive him? I have one syringe.
-
I somehow managed to strand myself at the Halberry Boulevard Police Dept[87, 44]; there's only one guy in here, John McSilly, I doubt he's a PKer or Zed Head Wannabe. I didn't see many zombies on my way over; between the Mall and Farmer Building, I think their attention is elsewhere. I'm down to 2 AP, but we're quite strongly barricaded. Perversely, I'd probably be (Or at least feel) safer if I had just left it at loosely...
-
I made it to the Davenport cinema,, just in time for it to be compromised and for me to run out of AP's. We got a new hideout, or what? I still have all of my syringes, if we wait a few hours I can maybe get to the library and revive Paulos. Is this still needed? If not, I'll hang out here and revive any that happen to run in.
-
I think reviving Paulos is a good idea. It looks like he started alive, and maybe he wants to return that way. Although he's been dead quite awhile, so maybe not. But atleast he'll be less of a threat that way, and easier to kill if necessary.
-
I just arrived there (partly through accident while out extracting DNA) so I'll revive him now.
-
Nick: check the wiki for other safehouses in the area. We're still in the library with Paulos but he's behaving himself for the time being. Who knows, maybe he wants reviving? Guess we'll know by morning...
-
He's done. I reckon he's a dedicated zombie judging by the skills he's chosen, but still, he will be easier to deal with as a human.
-
I hope I don't wake up dead.
-
Me too, I'm all out of syringes. Promise not to kill us all if you do?
-
OK. I'll stop hitting him then.
-
Glad to have you back in action, Skip. Just had a peek in the Davenport and all seems well. No zombies inside or in the immediate vicinity. I'm gonna lay low and save up Aps for now. Wondering how long it will be before a zombie spy stumbles upon this thread.
-
I've been wondering that, myself.
-
Man, before we revived Paulos, I wanted to say to him: Zombie Paulos! We're from the Zombie Resuscitation League. If you desire life, say to us "Brnhr" It woulda been a little fun to mess with him like that. Like we're some kind of zombie activists or something.
-
Heheh... when my zombie first got Memories of Life, before there were barricades, I spent an entire day's worth of AP just popping into buildings, going "Graaagh!" and popping out. Just to mess with the people.
-
I joined y'all in the library after laying down a scent trail. I have some AP to burn - could re-kill him w/ my little axe if necessary. Still, maybe he just wants a hug.
-
Zombie in the cinema. Dead body in here too... Doors are open. Should we killit?
-
How many peole are still in the Davenport?
-
Me... I'm wondering if I should finish off the zombie in here (only 3 hp...) but I dont want to kill off a fellow monkey. :( well.. I guess they can just stand up, right? 'sides, I want xp. :D
-
arrgh. My IP address has accessed the site too many times today. Somebody near here's playing as well (if I find out it's my housemate....). I'll have to check in again tomorrow. Or very late tonight.
-
Still, we made it through the night. Hooray for monkey backup. I've just popped by head out of the (library) door - there's one outside and about 15 in the squares touching ours. I think the scent trail thing may have worked...
-
Um, some zombie just killed me. It looks like I was all alone in the Davenport. I logged in earlier this morning, ran around and tagged some zombies and then came back here to rest up. A few hours later and I'm dead. What the hell happeend? Where did everyone go? I didn't know that there was an order out to abandon ship. /sad zombie
-
Just realized that I'm currently OUTSIDE the Davenport. How'd I get here? I'm guessing a monkey threw me out here, fearing a zombie attack? Any chance for a rez? Where should I go? So confused. Must eat brains...
-
Skip Jones and a couple of others are running around Pitneybank with syringes - I'd suggest finding somewhere quiet (and outdoors) to wait and post a message on the wiki. And try not to eat anyone in the meantime.
-
It's an obvious target for attack, but the Cornelius hospital (80,36) is quite strongly barricaded and currently has about a dozen humans in it, one of whom kindly patched me up a bit. Not much undead activity in the area, and it's a quick hop from Maggs. Gotta pick up more band-aids from somewhere eventually...
-
I'm hiding out in the Somerside Drive Police Dept in Whittenside with a big crowd. Every time I try to move - I was trying to get back to Davenport - I get servered. We're barracaded to the gills and others are probably armed. I have a reviv syringe and am otherwise useless.
-
I'm stading around at Teek Road, all by my lonesome, dreaming of brains. I hate brains. They're nasty. If someone wants to come rez me, please email or IM me when you're going to do it. Then I can make a mad dash for the Davenport before someone zombifies me again. Thanks in advance, fellow monkeys!
-
I just revived the zombie in Davenport, a fellow named SilentDave. I suggested he remain on his best behavior and then, after advising the survivors in Davenport that running may be in order, I took to the streets and am currently hanging out in Safehouse #3 (under wiki safehouse category.) MsVader, I'm going to work on reviving you, but we'd best find a nice quiet spot or you'll wind up doublezombified.
-
I just emailed you with a location, Vader, you coming?
-
Argh! I just revived her, but now another online zombie is chasing me!
-
Help me, Argh!
-
And now I'm being servered!
-
Could this be the end of Skip Jones?!?
-
I made into the mall, less 8hp, but just in time. Shwew!
-
Another daring escape for Skip Jones, NecroTechnician and freelance adventurer! Tune in tomorrow, same overloaded server, same GMTish time, to hear "Skip Jones and the Consumer Frenzy... of Doom!"
-
Skip Jones is my HERO... *bats eyelashes* *swoons*
-
(Realizes swoon may have been the result of coming out of zombie-like-haze.)
-
*Swoons anyway*
-
Grr, my Zombie secondary just got resurrected while my Scientist secondary, who was safely barricaded, just got zombified. How typical.
-
My zombie knocked 58 HPs off of a high level sleeper, then another zombie walked in while I was waiting for more APs, and finished him off. Grrrrh!
-
You two playing zombies on the side, eh? Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion.
-
Ahhh!!! I'm stuck outside the Davenport with no APs, and the place is heavily barricaded! Can someone whack it down far enough so I can get in, please!?
-
Uh oh. Wish I could help, but I can't. Good luck, Adrianhon!
-
adrian - are you still trapped outside?
-
Yep
-
On my way but having server issues
-
Okay, Im the zombie standing outside St. Lucy's church, right next to the davenport cinema. Revivify me, please!
-
My zombie is hacking away at the barricades but is having server trouble too. Got one hit in but no change in status yet.
-
Phew - I was worried you guys were going to zombify me! Steve, if you head over to Davenport, then I can revivify you when I get more APs.
-
alright, Ill be there in a half hour or so.
-
OK, attacked it and I'm in. Hurry! Jesus, it took 18 AP - no wonder the Zombies hate barricades
-
OK, the barricades have gone from heavy to very strong, can you get in now?
-
Good luck, y'all. I'm outta here.
-
w00t - thanks blag! I'm in. Actually Steve, just wait outside the church - that way I can tell which zombie you are tomorrow.
-
I can do that too.
-
Grand. Joint effort with islander. Have a safe night, all.
-
I've made it to the Library after wacking a zom to 3hp one click the the west. If anyone want to finish the job...
-
Gah, I've been getting servered all day. Violet's still in the Davenport. Tonight, when the load gets down, I'll go stock up on syringes and/or first aid kits, then head for wherever we decide is Monkey Central II.
-
Has anybody noticed that it gives you the option to use first aid kits on barricades? I tried it on a lark, and "That doesn't seem to work."
-
Not only that, you get the option to use DNA extractors and syringes on barricades, too. Seems like I read that when barricades were first introduced, you could heal them, but that was fixed pretty quickly.
-
i'm holed up in the Maggs cinema with a bunch of other monkeys. I'm a Medic (but just started so i only have First Aid). Email me with plans/instructions, fellow Monkey Zombie Fighters!
-
I'm being eaten outside of Laavor Alley School and I'm outta AP...I keep checking back to see if I can get one, because the school is very strongly barricaded. Wish me luck.
-
Whew, I bought Body Building just in time. Got an AP and jumped into the school. Hopefully I can now jump into the library.
-
I'm in the NT building north of St. Benny's, but the server is slow and I'm slightly worried I'll be stranded in here, lightly barricaded with a zombie.
-
Steve, I've just revived you. While doing some roving, I noticed that Chas Ackman is among one of four zombies waiting outside the Davenport. Watch out guys...
-
Alright, revived! Im in the cinema now, waiting for my ap to come back.
-
I'm currently servered in St. Benedict's. There's a LOT of zombies milling about to the north and west of the Pallaye library, and 4 outside the Davenport. I'm stocked back up on first-aid kits, anyone in need of healing?
-
Eep! I got back on and found St. Benedict's filling up with zombies - it had been "heavily" barricaded.
-
Tracy, that barricade's still up? Cool. I put that up like 8 hours ago, with that zombie in there. I was going to revive him, I couldn't find a single frickin' thing after 15 APs.
-
I'm having no luck at all attacking zombies with my bare hands. Anyone got any advice on where/how to find weapons?
-
Alnedra, get an axe from a fire station. You still won't have any luck, but it's the melee weapon.
-
Is it possible to barricade a building to 'very strongly' and still get in? I'm sure I saw somewhere like that. Then again, I could have just been imagining it, what with the constant threat of zombies around and my brain in danger of being addled.
-
Croakers.
-
adrianhon, I think that if you have FreeRunning, you can get into and out any building, no matter how strong the barricade.
-
Yep, I know that, but according to a site I saw, there are (or were) four levels: # Loosely # Lightly # Quite Strongly # Heavily I just have this weird memory that I saw a 'Very Strongly' barricaded building.
-
OH, I misunderstood. I don't know.
-
adrian: barricades You got in through very strong barricades last night.
-
not a euphamism
-
Meh... We need to do something... Can't wait till the trading comes in, i'd happily give away all my clips for some shotgun shells. Speaking of which, I wish those would come in boxes or holders or something.. spending 10 ap and finding one damn shell isnt really worth it.
-
Just wondering, how much xp does spraying buildings give?
-
nothing, as far as I have experienced (I'm the one writing 'don't use the z-word' everywhere) unless it is cumulative or some-such.
-
Spray painting for xp.
-
Could that stuff being linked at yahoo be put in our mofi wiki entry? I'd like to no what it says.
-
(no = know)
-
Oh my god, there have been 214 comments since I last read this thread. Why did I go on vacation? Why? Actually, I'm still away, so I can't play yet but I am going to go check on the status of my character. Sorry for missing the assault, I wasn't anywhere near a computer. I'll hopefully be in for the next one.
-
Thanks, Mr. K. I'll look for one when I load up on APs tonight.
-
I now have 2 syringes ready for some monkey-zombies who want to rejoin the ranks of the living. Gotta rest up for some more AP though. Head over to the third safehouse (from the Wiki) if you want to live.
-
beta chat facility added to the wiki - testers needed!
-
Ok, I'm back. Had a great visit with my family, but now I'm ready to adventure again with the zombies. I have max hp and ap, so if anything needs done let me know (I could use some roving round to build up xp).
-
Givem the current server woes, everybody might as well take another vacation. Seems that I now have to find another way to procrastinate. Damn it.
-
Stupid Metafilter. Stupid Something Awful. Stupid Monkeyfil- er... nevermind.
-
Re: Spray painting for XP - As I understand it, you only get XP if you have the Tagging skill, and then only on certain buildings. 2XP for monuments, 1XP for schools. The Yahoo groups links are just database entries. The barricades one lists the various strengths, how many AP it takes to construct them (some of their info is wrong), and whether a human can pass through. (Again, they've got some info wrong) The Spray Painting entries are just a short list of buildings. You're not missing much, Knickerbocker.
-
I've added a little "quick reference" section to the Wiki with what gives what XP, and barricade levels. The Yahoo groups databases have nothing on us. ;-)
-
Okay, this mother's gotta have something going for it. I'm signing up. Whereabouts should I start out?
-
If I was going to start a new character, it'd be a Fireman, because you start with an axe (no ammo required) and as a civillian, all skills cost 100XP. Some people prefer cops, for the flak jacket and the pistol, others go for NecroTechs, because of the lovely, lovely DNA extracting XP. However, scientist classes take forever to get fighting skills. As for suburb, start in Pitneybank, if you want to meet up with the rest of us.
-
Okey doke. I'm the Good Rev. Studly Mayhem. Firefighter by day, ass-kickin', lord-fearin', pussy-lovin' pimp daddy by night. I've started in Pitneybank, like you suggested. If you see me, feel free to say hi/gnaw on my throat. You know, whatever.
-
Make sure you end your session by finding a safe indoor place to hide, BBF.
-
Oh, and welcome to the wonderful world of server overload. Whee! We sure are having fun aren't we?!
-
Right. Well, turns out I managed to access it 160 times whilst in some amnesiac fever, without actually touching a single thing. So, looks like I won't be doing anything till tomorrow. Ah well. I'm at Teek Road, if you want to giggle at my statueified self. I hear if you put your ear right up to my mouth, you can hear me mutter "kill me... kill... me..."
-
HAHA! I lasted overnight barricaded in with a zombie, beat that!
-
Firefighter by day, ass-kickin', lord-fearin', pussy-lovin' pimp daddy by night. "I kick ass for the Lord."
-
Hey theres a zombie attackin people in the cinema! NOT GOOD!
-
8 zeds outside the davenport cinema!
-
ALL AVAILABLE MONKEYS TO FARMER'S BUILDING (82, 46)!!! WE ARE IN!!! WE NEED TO HOLD IT!!!
-
Anyone available to shore up defenses at The Farm? (and when I say The Farm I say it like Connery does in The Rock "Welcome to the Rock.")
-
Nanook is the way, from the Maggs! I hope there weren't too many Monkeys who got caught at the Davenport.
-
OK, I'm in. There were 3 Zs outside. I've got 40 AP left but no construction skill.
-
I got out in time to avoid the horde, now Im in the policestation up north. Ill head down to The Farm in a few hours, Im out of AP.
-
Two people and two zombies outside Farmer...
-
I'm gonna head over to the hospital to see if I can pick up some first-aid kits then try to whack a Z or two on the way back. god, I hope there ain't no spys reading this..
-
I'm outside the Farmer's building whaling on some zombies (sorry if any are monkeys, but there was a big gang of them, and none of the zombie monkeys said they were heading over). I keep getting servered.... I hope I don't get my brain munched.
-
If you get slightly brained, come on in--I got medkits galore. (Well, 2, anyway.)
-
I'm back in. I've got 3 F/A kits if anybody needs healing. One tough lookin' level 7 guy in the hospital along with one Z. Got a couple of whacks with the axe in but no kill. 3 AP left.
-
Thanks! I have one as well, but I haven't tried using one yet. My plan right now is to use up all but one AP trying to kill this zombie (there are 4 outside right now) then come inside. If you'd rather I not risk it having scent trail, I can save up a couple more points and move somewhere else. I *think* I have an ok chance of killing this z -- I have 30 AP and it's down to 23 HP, and I'm using my axe.
-
I'm getting chomped on, but the server keeps timing out! Bah!
-
I'm saving up my AP right now. I plan on searching for syringes when I'm up to 50, and keeping 20-ish AP so I can help out in a fight by reviving zombies, whether enemy or friendly. I don't have any fighting skills yet, so that's the best I can do. And I want to keep some for retreating if necessary.
-
I've got one syringe handy if you end up needing it, meredithea.
-
Ok, I got the z-man down to 6 hit points and I'm in the Farmer's Building. Thanks for the heal, ESJ!
-
Quite strongly barricaded... monkeys can still get in and out, right? Out of AP, I'm finding a hole.
-
Come on meridithea. I think they're gonna know we're in here.
-
That should be "Come on IN meridithea"
-
I'm in the mall... I think i'm gonna get 'bargain hunting' and just keep searching the gun store from now on...
-
My medic character is just south of the Farmer Building - is it still holding up?
-
(My medic character is also utter bobbins, which is where things fall down a bit)...
-
Still holding up. I've sent you a link to the Zombiewiki/chatsite. It seems that most coordination is taking place there these days.
-
Has anyone ponied up $5? I'd like to get to the Farmer building but I'm getting the server errors pretty much every turn now.
-
I've ponied up. And it works. Once the cash gets processed that is.
-
Well, server errors caused one of my other characters to also get zombied near the Davenport Cinema as I was trying to escape. I'm waiting for the servers to get better. Once they do, I'll need some revivinating. Also, someone please send me the link to the wiki? jeanettev@NOSPAMgmail.com
-
Since I donated and started using the nice server, I haven't been servered once. It's so great—totally worth the ten bucks for my two characters.
-
I paid up last night.
-
I'm beginning to get an idea of their business model....
-
Heh, my thoughts precisely.
-
There was a guy on my old street corner who used a remarkably similar one...
-
*sigh* I have succumbed as well. One too many server messages, alas.
-
I paid up a few days ago. It would be very interesting to know how much money these guys are hauling in...
-
Hey, you jerks, someone email me the link, I feel left out.
-
Yes, I paid up, too. But it's taking forever to process!
-
Check your email musingmelpomene. I haven't donated. Paying five bucks to fight with a bunch of zombies reminds me to much of some other website.
-
Ha!
-
Dude. Burn.
-
Mr. K. wins forever.
-
Aw shucks, now I feel obliged to donate 5 bucks to Kingdom of Loathing as well, since I've been playing there loads longer. Hmmm.... *checks rapidly emptying wallet*
-
And don't forget me, Alnedra. You've been enjoying my "witty" commentary on Monkeyfilter for over a year and a half now. / coughs, extends palm
-
Yeah, but you're not so much fun.... How about a nickel?
-
I just found 3 GPS units.
-
Alright! A nickel!
-
I hate to tell you this, Alnedra, but I'm actually only 3 cents worth of fun. Consider yourself ripped.
-
would it make sense to find shotgun shells in the sporting goods store?
-
Alnedra, I agree. Plus you get a Mr Accessory with KoL, too! I haven't played it for a few weeks, what with having this new game to play. I'm just a tiny bit burnt-out on KoL just now.
-
Draze: In PA at least, sporting goods stores double as gun stores.
-
I thought this was based in UK, and I thought there weren't any guns in stores there. Hey, actually, I thought the cops only carried billysticks, how'd that guy get shot in the head 5 times?
-
Maybe it's for shooting clay pigeons?
-
Finally made it to the location du jour... and I'm out of AP. I think sporting goods stores in most of the US sell at least rifles, shotguns, and ammo. A lot have pistols, too. (For that matter, it wasn't that many years ago that the Albertson's near my house had a pistol counter. No. Really.)
-
The K-Mart in Santa Cruz had a gun counter. Said K-Mart didn't even exist when I was back there in January. Those treehugging hippies finally kicked out the corporate swine!
-
Mr. Knickerbocker: Kevan's based in England, but the game is set in an American town. Although it would be far better if it was set in Britain. For starters, we could regroup at the Winchester.
-
Oh, I'm John Noakes, btw. I haven't got diagnose, so if you want healing, sing out here or in the chatroom...
-
Hmmm. I can't remember where I found my shotgun shell. It might have been in a cop shop.
-
I found a shotgun shell on the street outside some random building. Apparently they don't have a specific natural habitat.
-
I killed and dumped out one of the two zombies that were in St. Benedict's this morning. It's still quite strongly fortified.
-
I took 36hp off that last zombie in St. Benny's. It still has 14hp left, for whoever wants it. I'm going to hole up here.
-
Thanks, Mr. K, I killed it off - sorry to kinda poach it from you, for the bonus. I dumped the body, so St. Benedict's is safe as houses right now, so long as the barricades hold. I donated for livii so I had a fun, fast playing experience today. Woot! Right now I'm in the Farmer, chilling, and 2XP away from a new skill. Argh! I have 5 medkits though...
-
Woo - I beat up a zombie for the extra XP, and now I am at level 3. For me, this is amazingly exciting. I have basic firearms training now. Yes, I started as the stupid military medic, so I had a gun, but didn't know how to use it. I have five shotgun shells as well, but no shotgun. Does anyone have one, and where did you find it?
-
I have: Pistol(1), pistol(2), three shotguns(2), three extra pistol clips, a flak jacket, six extra shotgun shells, an axe, and training with all weapons mentioned above. I am ready to kick some ass, in the name of the lord of course.
-
I found both my shotguns in the mall in Pitneybank. My other character, despite searching a bunch of PDs and pubs, can't seem to find a single one.
-
livii, it's not poaching, I posted it because I wanted someone to finish it off.
-
Thanks, chrominance, I'll go check out the mall again tonight. And thanks, Mr. K, was hoping you'd see it that way. :)
-
I'm in the mall... I think i'm gonna get 'bargain hunting' and just keep searching the gun store from now on... posted by Draze at 04:19AM UTC on August 10, 2005 Is this worth investing in? Do you get better results this way than searching in a PD? I'm playing as "John Parker", BTW. Hello, all.
-
John Smallberries. Since I'm too cheap to pony up a fiver—not sure why, I had no problem paying more than this for two Señor Accessory accessories in KoL last year—this could be Daemmerung's sunset. We'll see.
-
I got the email confirming my donation, but it still won't let me access the good server! Waaaah! (Either they messed up, which is semi-ok given the work load right now, or I misspelled my character's name "Millie" instead of "Milly," which is totally my fault.) Anyway, I emailed them about the problem. Has anyone else experienced this?
-
I got the one zombie outside of St. Benedicts down to 12hp, so if anyone wants to finish him off :) Also, I'm at 88 xp, and should be able to buy skills tomorrow or the next day. What would be more useful for the group? Right now I have basic axe skills.
-
You can find shotguns in police stations, malls, and armories. I wish they had trading, violet has a couple of them and no shotgun skills. (Also more DNA Extractors and GPS units than you can shake a zombie at. I've started dropping the newpapers now.) meredithea: Useful for the group is probably Construction, but several Monkeys have that now. Useful for you, as far as gaining XP, and getting more useful skills faster would probably be Diagnosis (to see who to use first aid kits on) or maybe more combat skills. We've got a lot of support personnel now, fewer big hitters.
-
I woul go for a more advanced axe skill. It'll make it easier and faster for you to gain xp. After that, maybe construction or diagnosis.
-
Thanks! I will probably go for more combat skills. It's fun to whale on zombies!
-
Woot, I'm in. Heywood Jenkins Lives!! Military Private, started in Pitneybank, I'll leave my worthless self in a safehouse when I'm done with my AP.
-
I can never seem to find anything in malls. When I do, it's very rarely. I'd love nothing more to follow you all around as a bodyguard, but you all move around too fast... :P
-
It's kind of boring holding the Farm. Can we incite some violence, or something?
-
meredithea: I've donated twice. Once it took 7 minutes from the PayPal receipt to Kevan emailing me back thanking me, the other time it took me a day in between. Both times it was working by the time I received his email. I'm running around barricading buildings up to better camouflage our hideout. I just checked Davenport, and it has 4 zombies inside. I suggest we close the doors and ultra-barricade buildings with lots of zombies inside so they're trapped. Maybe someone with spray paint can put a warning outside.
-
I'm gonna fuck a Zom.
-
Chy reminds me of that new "Corpse Bride" movie coming out.
-
Boutcher alley PD is the BEST place for finding shotgun shells. i'm finding them like.. every two or three AP.
-
LEVEL ZOMBIE IN THE FARMER BUILDING! BARRICADES DOWN TO SECURED ONLY.
-
Make that LEVEL 10.
-
The building du jour has been breached, there's one zombie inside, he appears to be this guy. Hardcore, dedicated zombie, but he doesn't seem to have attacked anyone, and he spent 3AP trying to talk to us with Death Rattle. I'm thinking he wants revived, so he can find a flak jacket and use some of those XP on the zombie-usable human skills. I've put the barricades back up, I'm currently servered, when I can log back in, I'm going to try and find a syringe and revive him, after that it's up to y'all. Kill him and toss him out, or let him go as a human with a stern warning to hunt elsewhere.
-
So I couldn't find any zombies walking around, so I moseyed on over to the fort to check out the scene. Maybe they had all fled. Well the armory was boarded up so tight I couldn't even see through the windows, let alone find a way in. There where 7 zombies hanging around outside, along with 8 bodies and one normal human (level 4, skilled in both death and life). I ran out of APs hacking up a zboy, slashed him down to 3hp. So those zombies wondering around turned out to be more awake than I thought. They got me. It took 5 of the bastards, 4 of them pretty high level. So the bad news is that I'm dead. The good news is that it looks like some other survivors have taken the armory, at least for now. There's been 7 more bodies that showed up out here in the short time I've been here. It looks like they're inside, killing them all. I figure some monkeys would be interested in helping out the armory raid, since it's been pretty dull ever since we took Farmer's and Benny's so easily. I could probably use a needle, too, though I doubt I'll be standing up until tomorrow.
-
Oh, hey, there's action going on back at HQ. I didn't see that until now.
-
Leave Belmont dead. He hasn't bought Brain Rot yet only because he wants to be resurected once so that he can get things like Body Building and a flak jacket. Sticking a needle in him will be a bad bad mistake.
-
Too late, I stuck him. On the bright side, he's only got 25 HP now, so he'll be easy easy to kill and dump. Also, since he has no human skills, he can't do any of us much damage. Once my AP build back up I'll look for a needle for you, Knickerbocker.
-
He's not going to attack anyone yet. He's going to spend all the XP, and then maybe go look for a flak jacket. Then he'll attack, and be the strongest zombie evar. No rush on a needle for me. I don't have enough XP to go anywhere. I'll just chill for awhile.
-
So he's resurrected, what's the plan? Kill him before he can kill us, and dump the body?
-
It'll be tomorrow night before I can search anyways. He's only got 24 HP, maybe one of the fighter Monkeys can take care of him before he wakes up. It gets kind of boring once you get a zombie to level 10/11. I'm thinking about getting mine revived, then levelling her as a human fighter.
-
*sigh* I love my shotgun. Just shot 5 times at a zombie with full health, and took him down with all five shots. :)
-
Oh shit. A server fart locked me out on the way home and now I am dead. I am at Pallaye Library, outside. FUCK.
-
The killer zombie is there too. me angry.
-
I'm still up and next door at the hospital. I'll have a few whacks at him with axe but probably won't be able to finish the job.
-
ARRGG! I got him down to 2 HP then ran out of APs. Somebody finish him off and dump the body.
-
You have a good point about his intentions, VeraGemini. Let's see what happens. Has he said anything yet?
-
hehe
-
hey Chy, I think you'll gain XP faster as a zombie (cuase you sure weren't doing it alive). Get to a hundred first before you revive, so that you can spend it in an XP generating skill, like NT.
-
Axe first and ask questions later.
-
Hmm. Alright.
-
I see no Zombie Belmont... you get him, islander? Or did he escape our nefarious simian clutches?
-
I had a go with my pathetic hitting abilities (10%, 1HP) but sucked. So he's done a runner, then?
-
If he's gone and there's no body outside, he's made good his escape. We may hear from him in the future, I fear.
-
I killed him and dumped him outside but he got up again straight away and scarpered. *sigh* Guess that was what he wanted.
-
Ouch. Escaped with 1HP left? Yeah. He just might hold a grudge... if he doesn't get eaten before he finds his flak jacket.
-
I somehow missed this thread when it first appeared and just stumbled on it now. I've been wandering around Malton killing zombies without any real purpose. Now I know my goal: to meet up with my fellow monkeys! I'm currently in Buttonville which is several suburbs SW of Pitneybank. I'll work my way towards you guys over the next few days. I am a medic named (rather imaginatively) jacobw2. (I was jacobw, but then I got zombified and, not realizing I could ultimately be revived, abandoned the character.) See you in Buttonville! (Erm, that is where you guys are now, right? I kind of lost track over the course of this thread.)
-
Good deal, blag. Hopefully he didn't get to use his XP before the splat.
-
Oops--I meant "See you in Pitneybank."
-
jacobv: No, we're somewhere else. I've emailed you details.
-
Also, Nick pointed out that the zombies have found the other wiki so we should assume that this thread is also public; no posting locations etc. here.
-
Blast.
-
If anyone needs a rez, lemme know, I have 2 syringes. Contact me via email or IM and we'll work out a location.
-
Thanks, Vera Gemini. E-mail received. I'll see you in (LOCATION DELETED FOR SECURITY REASONS.)
-
Arrrgh... timed out! Curses, it's raining outside!
-
The good news - I found a shotgun! The bad news - even with having donated, I'm completely servered out - no connection with the site at all. And I'm standing right outside our safehouse. Will comment if badly injured or killed...
-
Try this when you get servered - hit your back button to the previous game screen, wait a minute and repeat your action. At least half the time I find it worked for me before I donated. The other half, I got the servered message again, so I just hit the back button and wait some more.
-
I think the site's dead, actually - no one can use it. I'm not getting the servered message, just no connection whatsoever. That's good, because then no one can eat me, but if I go out and it comes back, oops...ah well.
-
"Try this when you get servered - hit your back button to the previous game screen, wait a minute and repeat your action." Yeah that usually works. Sounds like the servers are hammered right now though. These guys are gonna have to start chargin' more serious or do something else.
-
Phew, I got back in, and only took 4 damage. I think I'll keep my human inside for the rest of today...
-
Some good news: Just to let people know; the optimised version of the site is looking good, a lot faster and kinder to the server, and should be in place over the weekend, if all the testing goes well. We're also looking at getting a dedicated server sorted out, which should help keep things running even if we're hit by heavier traffic. Finally we'll be able to go back to spending development hours implementing fun things, after weeks of not having time to. Thanks for your patience and support.
-
So, how do we discuss our locations and safehouses in private?
-
Check your email, Draze.
-
Me too, please Kthxbye.
-
How can I get in on this action? My e-mail is dianascott@NOSPAMgmail.com.
-
(By the way, my character - Linda Kasabian - hung around for a few days until it left to try and revive my other character - Dialousco - and ended up getting zombified itself. I'm trying to get Dialousco over to Pitneybank, but it may take a day or two.)
-
So my namesake was eaten alive while I was timed out and went to work. I hope I gave whoever it was indigestion. Conveniently enough, I'm lying in the junkyard SW of Farmer and I'm willing to stand up and relocate if anyone would mind performing some CPR. Email's in my profile.
-
Sweet, I leveled up, but now Im outsie the farmer building with no APs.
-
I'm currently the only zombie inside the Schonlau Motel, 2SE of Farmer.
-
Er.. I knew that. >_>
-
You're not alone, dayfat. I don't have enough AP right now to find you, identify and revivify. Sorry.
-
Bleah. I spend all 50AP searching, and what do I find? 2 GPS units, another DNA Extractor, and enough newspapers to start a fairly good sized conflagration. I'll keep trying, if no one else gets to you before, dayfat.
-
Vera, I can sympathise. I've spent about 50APs yesterday and today searching, and found 4 DNA Extractors, 3 GPS units, 3 books and 3 newspapers. Grrr...
-
Hey, the storms let up. Cool.
-
Dialousco, FYI, game admins frown on the same person having two characters helping each other. (You're allowed to have multiple characters as long as they don't interact.) So, if you had succeeded in having one character de-zombify the other, both characters might have ended up being banned (assuming you got caught, of course.)
-
Why is our HQ the necrotech building? There isnt anything good to find there (I.E. Ammo)
-
Syringes, I guess, Steve.
-
Arg, the mall searching skills are such a waste of xp. i spent 30 ap and found a fuel can, a pistol with one shot, and a book. I highly suggest you get something else with your xp, unless you do nothing but sit in the mall, or are too lazy to find a hostpital/gunstore. Even with bargain hunting, finding items there sucks.
-
The server has been optimised, updated mere minutes ago as I write this. I have edited the data at the place of monkey brains to reflect this.
-
At least, it only told me that a few minutes ago.. duh
-
Chy! You live again! Good luck with that!
-
What? I was revved? But I was gonna level up?
-
Um, I (Milly) left our primary hideout to go kill me some zombies, but now it's barricaded too strongly to get back in. I have fallen back to another location (Listed elsewhere). In happier news, I bought hand to hand combat. Weee!
-
Oh, well, I was killed again. Don't rev me until I ask, because I probably won't have AP.
-
Ah well. Consider it as your having donated 5 xp to Skip Jones, Necrotech and Freelance Do-Gooder. Sorry about that.
-
That's ok, I didn't mean to sound ungrateful. I hate zombies.
-
I just know that somewhere there are two or three people farming each other for xp. Y'know, like one zombie attacking one guy and another guy medkitting him... Rinse, repeat....
-
That sort of relationship is just sick and wrong. Next thing you know they're going to want to get married.
-
That sort of relationship is just sick and wrong. Next thing you know they're going to want to get married.
-
I say we start a petition to put an end to inter-life realtionships. We can not have the living and the undead trying to get the same benefits that we right thinking married people do. Benefits such as....errrr....ahhh....ummmm, such as....well either way my congessperson will be getting an ear full!!!
-
"It appears my wee-wee has been stricken with rigor mortis!"
-
"It appears my wee-wee has been stricken with rigor mortis!" Thanks die-agara! I'm so, so sorry.
-
jacobw, fortunately the entire scheme failed and I ended up abandoning one of the characters. I'll have to play nice in the future. :)
-
25AP searching = eight freakin' DNA extractors, one GPS unit, and a book. Eight DNA extractors. For a grand total of seventeen total. Oh yeah, and one syringe with my last AP. I have free running and several first aid kits. Dayfat, if you're on and still zombified in a couple of hours, I'll pop down and fix you up.
-
I shuffled over to the primary location. I'm the only zboy standing outside here.
-
You're revived.
-
w00t!
-
Now I need just one more AP to get inside. (There should be a clock that tells when your next AP arrives. There wouldn't be near so many refreshes on the server)
-
Thanks, Vera, but one of the Penny Arcadians already patched me up and sent me on my way.
-
I'm inside. There's a Penny Arcadian team?
-
Yep, dayfat, when I logged and saw you alive inside I used the needle on Knickerbocker. (And got XP from tagging, reviving, and healing him up.. woohoo!)
-
w00t! Finally found myself a syringe! *clutches it in her hot little hands*
-
Yeah. My mom was the same way.
-
hehe
-
Now that the server is stable, I've moved my character Arlo over to Pitneybank from Richmond Hills. If someone would be kind enough to send me the address to the super double top secret web bunker I'll be all set to join the team.
-
The Farmer building has 6 zoms outside of it. I'll nip over to attack 'em but then get back to the street to the east.
-
The barricades are down at our main location. I have relocated to a secondary location, and I have two first aid kits if anyone should require them.
-
I've put 2 AP's worth of barricades up. The doors are open and there are 2 zombies inside. Pray for mojo.
-
This might be a good location to barricade strongly then abandon, yes?
-
Aw shit, and I'm out of AP. Just my stinking luck. Pray for mojo, indeed.
-
The building has been quite strongly barricaded after I knocked over a few soda machines and desks. I also took out one Z and threw it out the winder. Took the other one to 31 before AP gave out. Maybe someone can finish the jobs of killing, cleaning, and barricading.
-
I took a few swings at the zombie inside, but either someone else finished it off and dumped the body or it ran away. I brought the barricade back up to VS.
-
Thanks for the medical attention, dayfat. Daemmerung got pretty chewed up over there.
-
I just chanced fixing you up too, goetter, and gave you 10 HP. If *anyone* needs healing please let me know - I have 5 medkits, and using 4 of them will allow me to buy Free Running, and then I can leave the safehouse and go look for more. I unfortunately can't really afford Diagnosis as it would cost me 150XP. All my medkits come with 10 HP renewal...*tempts*
-
Thank you too, livii! I'll update the wiki next time I get so throughly gnawed. If you have any combat chops at all, nip next door and finish off the zombo that I left in tatters. (I left the barricades permeable to non-free-runners.) There are also three survivors in there who could possibly healing.
-
MsVader (36HP), Knickerbocker (45HP), lackey (34HP), and the Rev Studly Mayhem (46HP) could use some attention. I'd highly recommend saving up for Diagnosis after you get Free Running. It is very, very useful.
-
Thanks, guys! I have Free Running now (and all four of the above got 10HP or as much as they could take). I will save up for Diagnosis, but with the current barricade problems I was very anxious to get FR first. Now I can go find kits and things and build up for Diagnosis without getting chomped. :)
-
Ok, I just went back to the building and used my medkits on MsVader and lackey. I'm just a simple firefighter, so you only got 5hp, but I do what I can!
-
Well, darn. For some reason livii's comment wasn't up there when I posted. Ah well, hopefully I still topped you up :)
-
I did what livii did and got free running before diagnosis. If I'm last to leave I'll bump the barricade right the heck up for the fun of it. Hmm, but everything seems to be back to normal, I guess. There are now 10 zombies outside, plus several in the surrounding blocks. Abandonment to a secondary bolthole is a good idea, methinks.
-
w00t! "it now takes 10AP for a zombie to stand up after being killed." That gives us a bit more breathing room, I hope. I'll try and stay for one more day to search for syringes. I think it's a good idea that we move for secondary safehouses, and build them up. I have no construction skill, alas, and am unlikely to be a useful part of the team for quite a while, until I build up enough XPs.
-
From my human character's perspective, the 10AP thing rewls. From my zombie character's perspective, aw, damn. I love playing my main character with you guys, but my zombie's so fun - I can just leave it anywhere, throw it at the most dangerous situations, and if I die, so what? Now I actually have to be a bit more careful. Good think I bought Memories of Life and can lurk in unbarricaded buildings.
-
Cheers to the Unknown Medic who healed me in my absence. I went away for the weekend: seems like I missed some excitement.
-
After this whole 10ap to respawn thing, I was feeling brave, so I went out and killed 3 zombies with my new pistol skill. I totaly stole somebody's kill!
-
I think it's time for our Farmers to rotate their crops and move on to greener pastures. I just popped outside and there were 18 abominations at our doorstep.
-
Gah. I have used my last 5APs to vacate. Sorry, folks. Hope everyone makes it. I have one syringe, so if anyone gets zombied, we can meet up at a spot so's I can poke you with it. Email's in profile.
-
Phew, made it. No AP to spare, though, because I blew it all identifying those zombies for the XP.
-
Nanook is gonna hang in as long as possible to cover the retreating Monkeys then disappear next door to the west or south. Barricades still 'quite strong' at 01:20 8/15 GMT.
-
made it to saftey, mashed a zombie on the way! my first zombie kill! w00t! i'm like "pow! take that!" and he's all "graaaargh" and then i'm "pow! blatt! zing!" and "SMACKDOWN!" yeah!
-
My backup firefighter is teh 4wes0me -- axing zombies like a mo-fo. I totally left my secondary Necrotechnician to be munched on in favour of the manly axeman and his mighty weapon.
-
You heard it here first: Firefighters are the new black!
-
Finally chanced on a group of 10 virgin zombies. Tagged 'em all and now I've got a little HTH skill of my own. *Slashes air with crowbar*
-
My eye!
-
I made it to a different location, tried to take on the zombie in the hospital first but had terrible luck. Am out of AP for now. Good luck to everyone still inside Farmer! It's still heavily barricaded, but, yikes. I don't know how many zombies are outside right now because I just hopped inside buildings. I'm wondering if we should retreat a fair number of spaces away?
-
I'm seriously considering putting my doctor character into storage and bringing down my soldier character. He's kicking mucho ass out there, I tell ya--it's beautiful.
-
There's a whole lot of medical personnel in our group right now. We could probably do with some fighters. I've been thinking the same thing but I may just get into HtH training and pick up an axe for my NT character. I'm doing pretty well thus far.
-
Axe good. Nanook like axe.
-
Conversely, my fighter may pick up med sk1llz. Or maybe NT. I now have three hundred plus experience points in reserve, and there's always the hope that the game will introduce some new skill, the way that Construction appeared on the scene. Ain't the axe fun, though? You should try a Halligan bar some time.
-
I can fight a fair bit, axe proficiency and basic firearms skills. But I have bad luck, so I hit the target quite infrequently. I am tempted to abandon my healing side and embrace advanced shotgun or pistol training, hee. 300XP points in reserve? I wish I could do that. As soon as I get my hot, greedy little hands on 75XP, I'm always off buying something. Heh.
-
Livii and Nanook, you attacked a zom. That zom was me. Please note my location on the wiki. I will try to stay away from other zoms.
-
HtH is next on my agenda... whenever I get 126 more XP...
-
Sorry, Chy. Fog of war and all that. Friendly fire? Mebbe we should all agree on a single, secure place of communication like a passworded forum of sumpin'.
-
goetter saith:Holy merkins! Now that ain't for your kids to play with...
-
That zom was me. Chy, my zombo (Yuuko Ishida. heh) takes plenty of friendly fire. Knock her down, she'll just get right up again. Think of it as a XP donation.
-
Yes, but now that getting up costs you z-boys 10AP.
-
which was my point :)
-
Doors wide open at old HQ. Nearly out of AP, a few Monkeys left inside. I'm bolting. Must sleep, IRL
-
Get out, people! Don't get et!
-
Lurker has broken in. I've barricaded back up to heavily and split.
-
I think the 10ap thing is too expensive. It makes so that zombies have to start hiding, instead of sleeping in the street. Kinda ruins things that way.
-
Lurker is down to 14hp. I couldn't run now if I wanted. Too many boards on the windows.
-
Came back, waxed Lurker, and threw his body out.
-
I take it back, bargain hunting in malls is friggen great, now that it's been fixed. Tziek is finding many shotgun shells and medkits. As a side note, where would spraypaint cans be in a mall? Tech? Hardware? Sports?
-
Methinks hardware. But that's in RL.
-
spraypaint is plentiful in auto repair joints.
-
Could I have one of your axes that lets you hurt things? I think someone might have swapped mine for a joke rubber axe, or maybe a stick of candyfloss.
-
It's in the hardware store, Draze. From the info wiki: * Bookstore: books. * Drugstore: first aid kits. * Gun Store: pistols, pistol clips, shotguns, shotgun shells. * Hardware Store: flare guns, spray cans, wirecutters. * Liquor Store: beer, wine. * Sporting Goods: baseball bats. * Tech Store: GPS units, mobile phones.
-
I'm in the junkyard 1 block west of the davenport cinema. If someone can revive me in the next couple hours, that would be great, because I'm sick of being undead. Also I would like a heads up when that is done so I can get the fuck out of Dodge.
-
Thanks Day. *smacks self with crowbar*
-
Also, is anyone having trouble with logging in? sometimes it will just disconnect me and when I try to log back it it will say "Invalid username or password."
-
Sorry for beating you up, Chy, I noted it on the wiki. Didn't know that was you at the time, obviously.
-
Of course you didn't. But I never fail to grasp at an opportunity to bitch and moan.
-
As is your right when you've been attacked, I think. Have you been un-zombiefied yet? I'd help you out but I don't have Necrotech skills.
-
Not as yet, it has not been veddy long.
-
Chy, if I can login, I'm on my way.
-
aye
-
I had exactly enough APs to get to you, revive you (one attempt to log you, heh) and get back into safehouse. hee!
-
thankyou so much. I'm now in the (old safehouse) and healed myself a bit, but AP in the red, so I'll wait it out there for a while. Only one other bloke here and it looks like the undead have scarpered from the area. /crosses fingers
-
I think the 10ap thing is too expensive. It makes so that zombies have to start hiding, instead of sleeping in the street. Kinda ruins things that way. Well, if you save your AP to move in one go as a zombie, the most you can be killed in one day is once, and it's not costing you too much, really. Kevan had to do *something* to make things balanced, since as it stood, killing zombies actually acted as a full heal to them for the princely sum of 1 AP. If the penalty had been in place before, Belmont couldn't have broken into HQ as easily, since I killed him before he had finished breaking down the barricades initially. With a 1 AP penalty for death, he just stood right back up again and finished invading our safehouse. There has to be some kind of a tactical point to our killing zombies, or it's just a joke to be in combat with them at all.
-
I was actually thinking the same thing, servoret, prior to the announcement about 10APs penalty. I realised that the game was definitely weighted very heavily in favour of the zombies (which I'm not really complaining about - it's not called "Urban Living" after all), and it made survival seem rather futile. I was wondering if there were pairs of zombies just killing each other repeatedly for XPs.
-
If it makes anybody feel better, we're not the only ones with zombie problems.
-
Wheee, spray can. We need a slogan or grafiti mark or something so we can spray it all over our turf, yo. What do we have?
-
Yeah, and after all those reasons, 10 is still too much. It's way overcompensating in the other direction. The most it should be is 5aps. 3 would be even better. They're zombies. The whole point is that they keep coming. This is going to lead to zombies making their own safehouses, since they can't sleep on the street any longer. That's going to totally ruin the game. They game is weighted heavily in favor of humans already.
-
We're not the only ones with Zom problems. The South Will Rise Again!
-
They game is weighted heavily in favor of humans already. And so it should, if you ask me. In pretty much any zombie film you watch, a zombie versus a human, the human would win every time. The zombie's only advantage is in numbers. You ask me, the creators should find some way to make zombies less powerful but more numerous.
-
Come on, I want to violate things with a spray can! Someone come up with something for me, an stick it on teh wiki.
-
the creators should find some way to make zombies less powerful but more numerous. They've already done that. Every character that dies comes back a zombie. Revivification syringes are scarce, so the population of zombies will only increase, as new characters come in.
-
zombie versus a human, the human would win every time. The zombie's only advantage is in numbers. Unless it sneaks up on yeh.
-
since they can't sleep on the street any longer It hasn't changed my playing style a whit. 1 AP, 10 AP, either way after I'm knocked down I'm still a zombie. I ate brains just this morning. Better than Cheerios! And love my newly acquired Scent Fear skill.
-
we need to find a new safehouse. Currently, I'm just running around trying to find equipment. We can't defeat these zombies unless we organize!!!
-
We really need a new Malton Meetup thread. This one is just way to big. My computer freezes for two minutes everytime I just click over to this thread.
-
We have a forum via the wiki.
-
Malton? I thought we were taking over Pitneybank?
-
Pitneybank is inside of Malton, Draze. IT's the name of the city.
-
I knew that. >_>
-
Ah, that was satisfying. I just tracked down the last human to kill my zombie character. He made the mistake of sleeping in an unbarricaded police department next door to the building I was killed in (I don't know why, since he had the Construction skill), so after I got up, I just walked in, slaughtered him, and walked out, leaving the doors open for any other zombies to come inside and make short work of the rest of the inhabitants there. Revenge is sweet.
-
Zombie scum! Of course, my zombie character heartily approves.
-
If Malton ever gets a hockey rink I wanna drive the Zomboni.
-
I'm betting that a zombie skill appears to somewhat counter the 10ap cost of standing up.
-
If it's not fiery breath and wings, it still won't balance.
-
I"m in Horsey Square Fire Station. Someone commented that "This is the only safehouse in this suburb."
-
I wonder if they'll implement something like a zombie virus transmitted by bites. Maybe 10% to hit and causes a loss of 1HP per hour until healed. My zombie Grover Cleveland ate Macaulay Culkin today. Funny how these things work out. on preview: new features :-) And zombies with battle-calloused fingertips can hone the art of Rend Flesh for increased combat damage. Survivors with itchy trigger fingers can now spend their time developing Advanced Training skills, for the pistol and the shotgun.
-
Looks like I need to put that 'free running' off for a while.
-
No, get Free Running, Draze, because we've got a plan *shifty eyes* My zombie Grover Cleveland ate Macaulay Culkin today. - LOL! That's freaking awesome. I logged in as my zombie but didn't see how to buy the new skill, not that I can afford anything right now. Wonder how that one is going to work out.
-
Oh man, I just logged in as my tertiary human character (I wanted to see what it was like for NecroTechs) and I revived a zombie. The zombie's name? Hungry Zombie. Hee! It's totally unfair to just do that to a random zombie who might be actually playing (compared to how little I've played that tertiary character), but, it was fun.
-
OK, as requested I passworded our special place. Most of you will have the details in your email. Those that don't will need to find a trusted friend to supply it to them. Failing that, email me your mofi name, game name and the address of the wiki and I'll sort something out. /shifty eyes/
-
Cries the bitter tears of the excluded...
-
woot. Milly Stinkypants has achieved free running!
-
And Nanook now has construction skills but, alas, no password. *sob*
-
nostrild@NOSPAM.gmail.com can ya send me the pass? :)
-
Me no password! *cries* email in profile. Please send posthaste! /shifty eyes
-
Can I have the pass as well? adrian@NOSPAM.mssv.net Thanks! (I'm Perplexor)
-
Password also pls KThxBye. I'm about to get my first upgrade of my frannkly useless medic character - free running?
-
Diagnosis, so you know who you can get easy XP off of?
-
I can't even find out where there *used* to be discussions! Someone e-mail me the info, please? E-mail's in the profile, game name is 'Jen Marsh.' Level 3 NecroTech - I've got Construction and Revivification (2 syringes.) I'm saving up for Free Running.
-
Can I get the pass too? Game name is 'Tziek', level 9, with Basic Firearms Training Pistol Training Shotgun Training Axe Proficiency Shopping Bargain Hunting and free running
-
THEY DON'T TRUST US!!!! /spittle
-
I just emailed: Draze, Chy, Alnedra, cobaltnine, adrionhon, and tannhauser. Is that everyone who needed the password? (I put "Urban Dead" in the subject line, hopefully it won't filter to your junk).
-
Oops, missed two - just sent to islander and layne, lady layne as well.
-
And I've emailed a couple of mefim who sang out in the current safehouse. (One had contributed to the wiki before, the other's running a righteous firefighter with no obvious brain-chewing tendencies). Meanwhile, we're up to 805 comments here. This is nuts.
-
Doh, I just did the same livii. Sorry about the redundant emails guys.
-
Nah, it's cool. 805 comments, eh? And I was worried about a lukewarm reception.
-
I"m playing, but I ogt the password from someone, so i'm cool. playing as jccalhoun (real creative, right?)
-
I tried to sign up as "Daniel" but FireFox helpfully filled in my full name, and I didn't realize it had happened until I started playing. BAD BROWSER!!
-
Thankyous :D
-
Many thanks! I am in!
-
Thx all.
-
I deliberately used my MoFi name for my character's name in the hope that no MonkeyZombies would kill me. It's pretty much worked so far.
-
I'm gonna spend my next 50 AP spraying "Monkey's Jungle" all over the place and searching for shotgun shells.
-
I have multo pistole clips!! I keel zombies!! I have free running! MUAHAHAHAHA!
-
I used my monkey name for the same reason, tracicle. I figured it would be useful to wear a familiar face.
-
I'm at 2hp. I need some medicall attention badly. I stayed behind at Farmer's all weekend long, keeping it boarded up while sleeping monkeys woke up and escaped. I managed all weekend, with the support of some monkeys stopping by and healing me everyonce in awhile. About once a day I'd go outide and make fun of them, then run back inside. Well today, in RL, my power went out. which left my character trapped in Farmer's. While my power was out, zombies broke in and chewed me up real good. In fact, I'd be dead if Violet didn't heal me up some during this same time period (Thanks VeraGemini!). I logged back on to find the doors open with zombies inside, and myself at 2hp. So I locked the place up the best I could, at got the heck out of there. I put a plea for medical attention in the wiki, too. Thanks to all who can help.
-
You should try and get up to the mall where I'm at (noted on Wiki) there's a ton of people and free heals. Just sing out.
-
You're a brave, brave man, Mr K. Unfortunately I have no medikits, only syringes, humble apologies.
-
I see you're up to 32HP now, so that's good.
-
I'm now at 37hp, which is pretty much full health for me. I always seem to hover at 37-38. Man, those zombies have got to be pissed. I went outside and teased them so much. They finally get in, and do 68hp of damage to me, but I escape with 2hp. hehehe. Plus I left them locked inside the building. Ha! I wish I had taken the time for one last taunt. Thanks all for the support.
-
Dang, you were down to 6hp and the doors were open when I found you, but no zombies were inside, so I closed them, rebarricaded back up to "quite strongly", healed you a bit, and skittered back over to [undisclosed location]. They must have broken it back down again.
-
They're hungry.
-
Yeah, you saved my life VeraGemini. They did make it back in, almost had me. I think they may have gotten Loto the awesome. There was a dead body in there, and Loto was the last sleeping monkey I was waiting for. There are a couple awake monkeys still there, but they're playing every day, and should be fine. Some doctors may want to check on them, but I'm sure they'll be out of there within a couple hours.
-
Aye, I'm out. Shame; I thought we could hold the building till they lost interest. Good job, Mr. K.
-
I'm all better now. 50hp and evrathin'
-
We probably could've, bbf, if the power hadn't gone out. Oh well.
-
The barricade at the building you are in Mr. Knickerbocker is almost destroyed. There are six zombies outside. Watch out. If you have freerunning, the autorepair next door is safe (but heavily barricaded.) Also, could I get an email of the username/pass for the wiki? Email is in profile. Thanks!
-
Sent, loto.
-
Loto, you alive? You were the last monkey I was waiting on to abandon farmers. I repaired the barricade. That's what I do.
-
You should check out the pooflinger page in the wiki, loto. I think you may be napping with a pooflinger. Go to the chat.
-
Zombies can't kill me! There were two in the building with me when I woke up. I killed one, injured the other, and hightailed it to a barricaded building, which happened to be full of monkeys.
-
Yeeeeehaaaaaaaw!!
-
(Is a pooflinger like a Halflinger?) Went over and emptied a couple of magazines at a renegade human. I'm not a very good shot yet. Now I feel dirty somehow -- don't think I'll do that again.
-
I'm going to do drive-by barricading on the building, just to annoy them and waste their AP (and mine, but it's fun).
-
I knew I shouldn't have left my zombie sitting in the police department. **sigh** What a way to waste 10 AP...
-
My safehouse was infiltrated by a zboy and I ran away too hastily. I'm stuck outside the mall with 0 ap. Any aid will be appreciated!
-
Could this be the end for Skip Jones?!
-
I now owe Tziek my life. Thank you sir!
-
I made it back. I know you were all worried.
-
Sobbing. Literally sobbing.
-
In todays episode, Mr. Knickbocker makes his triumphant return to the fold after his heroic stand and Skip makes an exciting, narrow escape with a little help from his friends. Meanwhile, back at the farm, tracicle plays a joke on those mean old zombies. Tune in for our next episode - Same Monkey Time, Same Monkey Channel!
-
Zombies are so stupid.
-
*claps ND on the shoulder* No problem, friend. *tunes in to 'Urban Dead'*
-
Weeee! Milly Stinkypants got construction, which I have no idea how to use, but I'm sure I'll figure out tomorrow!
-
New to MoFi and new to the game, but I would like to join in. I'm not smart or debonair enough to be a spy. Honest! Could someone please hook me up with the password and username and the wiki address?
-
Oh my email is *bleep* (Removed by admin at user's request.)
-
solaris.. I hope you're not a spy :|
-
Hmmm. Not sure about this one.
-
I sure hope nobody falls for this guy. He didn't even bother with giving us a fake human character name. Notice how he didn't even bother asking where the wiki was, or anything. He has been following the wiki until a pasword was put on it. Then he had to join mofi to request a password, but joining mofi isn't immediate. No way no way no way.
-
We are talking about solar, right? According to his profile, he joined a few days before this post. Of course, that doesn't mean he isn't a spy, but.... I defer to the majority, since one breach would mean the wiki would be blown wide open.
-
solar --> solaris
-
Solaris, you can't join unless you really, REALLY hate zombes! Do you really, REALLY hate zombies?!
-
Nobody gave him the pass did they? QUICK! CHANGE THE PASSWORD!
-
C'mon solaris. Give us a link to your character profile at least.
-
*shoe slowly drops*
-
I am wanting a little more proof of Solaris's good intentions first...
-
Solaris, is it pronounced Shibboleth or Sibboleth?
-
Solaris, is the in-game secret monkey code word to recognize fellow monkeys "Shibboleth" or "Sibboleth"? If you are sincere about this, you will know. Upon admittance, you will be subjected to such tests as "Crossing the Desert" and "The Unblinking Eye"...
-
Curse my careless clickery!
-
So, this is where all the KoL folks have gone. Well all righty then. I've joined the fray, as Detective JJ Friday. Okay, I'm a level one cop, but I hope to achieve zombie hunter status one day. I'm in Pitneybank--and I'm sure I'll run into you monkeys soon--hopefully still among the living.
-
I think you guys were a little hard on Solaris. Let him in! (I'm deleting his address above because he asked me nicely, and I'm slightly worried we're taking the game too seriously. :)
-
I'm not paranoid! They are really out to get me!
-
Nobody emailed with uh... zombie hatemail, or whatever it's called, right? I hope not. That'd be really fucked up. The idea leaves a bad taste in my head. If someone did, then tracicle's right. Someone is taking the game way too seriously at that point. I hope no one did.
-
FOR GODS SAKE DONT GIVE GEARBUY TEH PASSWORD HE WILL DESTROY US ALL
-
Nah, I don't think there's been any hatemail, but I think he was a little put out by all the "You can't be in our club!" stuff. And he wanted to take his email address out of the public arena.
-
Y'know, gearbuy.com would be a good online shopping site. (-:
-
So I'm in the building with jacobw to rest up (some zoms took some swipes at me while I was inactive). Where's a good place to pick up some clips of ammo? I need some serious target practice.
-
the mall.
-
Police stations are good for ammo, as are armories, but both are major zombie targets. It's not advisable to camp in one while your AP builds back up.
-
That sounds like something a ZOMBIE SPY SYMPATHIZER might say, tracicle! STRING HER UP!
-
Uh, Nick, unless you wanna never, ever, ever step foot in here again, you will step away from the Bashi. Right now, ok? *hefts 100 TON HAMMERâ„¢ meaningfully*
-
I'm telling you I find shitloads of ammo at the mall, I just stand there and pick up clips, beer, beer, baseball bats, med kits, beer, etc. Mall appears to have almost everything that you can find elsewhere. "This place has got everything!" /Jake
-
I never find anything good at the mall, but then again, I never find anything good anywhere because I have shitty, shitty luck. But...I got Construction! Woot! I'm at level 7 now. I'm swooning! I love this game. Has someone given BearGuy the wiki info? I can email but don't want to be redundant. BG, let me know what you need, yeah?
-
"In my experience, there's no such thing as luck." /Kenobi
-
*hefts 100 TON HAMMERâ„¢ meaningfully* Too bad you can't take that thing to Malton. Could be very useful. Other players: How did all these zombies get flattened?
-
Groovy. I'll head over to the mall in half a day or so, when I have enough action points (like the Blues Brothers reference). Where I am right now is strongly barricaded, so I'll be okay. I figure it will be quite a while before I'm the zombie-killing machine I'm working towards, but hey, I'm happy to coordinate movements with other monkeys. Man, they need to institute that trade system soon. Anyway, yeah, please send the info to bjorn dot munson at gmail dot com.
-
Mill Stinkypants! You're getting your face chewed off by five zombies inside the Billet Road FS. Medic!
-
Email sent, BearGuy! I wish I could go help Ms. Stinkypants but am at only 4 AP. Drats!
-
Uh... why did Rev Studly Mayhem attack me? What did I ever do to you!!!
-
Oh, and thanks for the heal Dayfat
-
I killed one of the zombies, but there are two more left! Run Millie!!
-
Nanook got one of the remaining two Zs down to 26HP and gave Milly some first-aid. 1.5 zombies left.
-
Thanks for the email and all the help! I thought I was in a well-barricaded building, so I left for work, all "la la laaaa..." (In fact, I'm pretending to work right now. Shhhhh....) I've moved to a more secure location for the workday -- thanks *so much* for the healing and the warning!
-
Woo-hoo. Got the email, so I know about [censored] and [censored]. I'm happy to rest and get more action points. Then I'm going to become more powerful/useful to the monkey posse.
-
I'm carrying more crap than I know what to do with. I seem to be the king of finding wirecutters, I've discarded about 6 pairs so far and just found some more. Plus I am loaded down with spray cans.
-
Did you get the tagging ability, chy?
-
We've taken back that fire station from the zombies. If anyone would like to chip in, we've got some barricades here that need to be put back up. At the moment, it's only lightly barricaded.
-
No I didn't get the tagging ability. But I'm not far from another level up. Once I knuckled down I started getting more xp. I just keep finding spray cans.
-
Uh... why did Rev Studly Mayhem attack me? What did I ever do to you!!! Hm, what? I'm pretty certain I didn't attack any humans... If I did, uh, sorry.
-
Many thanks tracy! I just want to clarify I wasn't offended. I did not receive harassing emails or anything of the kind. I had second thoughts about listing my ISP email. However to the person who sent me the login and a nice note, thanks, and I sincerely hope they don't get into any trouble over it. I would appreciate some advice on what is a good character to start with. The ones I am interested in are- Fireman Scout Cop NecroTech Lab Assistant Is the axe wielding skill good or are the gun skills that can upgrade as a cop eventually better? Which is stronger in combat when they fully upgrade, a cop or a fireman?
-
At this point I'd recommend the fireman. XP from tagging is hard to come by for an NT assistant, and the fireman doesn't need to worry about collecting shells. Scouts, meh, don't know much about those.
-
Is the server on the game down again? It timed out when I tried to get in and play :( I would also recommend firefighter. The axe rules, and you build up xp relatively quickly.
-
Yeah, the server is down.
-
Someone give me a mission. I'm bored as hell. E-mail would be best.
-
Fully upgraded, they are all the same. Cop = Fireman = Scientist = Soldier = Shopper. Starting off, Firefighter or NT tech are probably the best for fast XP gain. Firefighter is probably easier, it takes some effort to figure out the wuick XP gain with the NT tech.
-
I gave up on my NT after I got tired of running around tagging zombies that had already been sampled for the day. Firearm users are the deadliest characters in the game in a fight, but have to contend with some serious downtime to prepare for each of their epic bouts of zombie-killing. Firefighter is probably the most painless way to start the game, especially as you have access to the refuge of the group and don't have to start off worrying about how effective you are in combat in comparison to a group of zombies.
-
My firefighter has a great base: a hospital in the west that's inhabited by a bunch of medics that are using heals to gain XP. So I blow my AP for the day knocking down zombies, then retreat to the safety of a well-barricaded hospital for the night. Works great.

If I was starting a new character now it would be a firefighter, because you don't need to reload your axe, but mainly because the Civillian class pays 100XP for all skills across the board. Right now my NT is maxed on science skills, and 150XP for the millitary skills is slow going. Scouts only start with Free Running, which is a nice skill, but not real useful alone. The first skill I'd get would be Diagnosis, and then either Free Running or HtH. (Firemen start out with axe skill, but without the HtH modifier that normally comes before it.)
-
I gave up on my NT after I got tired of running around tagging zombies that had already been sampled for the day. I'm thinking of doing the same. Get my NT character out of Pitneybank so that I can move my secondary character in. She's a firefighter, and already has Construction.
-
Ooh, shotguns do a lot of damage.
-
Whatever you do, don't start as the military medic. The First Aid skill is pretty much useless unless there's a big attack on, or something. That said, being military helped me level up like mad, as I can buy in-class for 75XP, and all the awesome fighting skillz are there. Even Free Running only cost 75XP, and then I got Construction yesterday for 100. I'll probably never get any NT employment for that character, but I'll be a lean, mean, fighting machine.
-
Why don't you start as A CORPSE YOU STINKING ZOMBIE SPY!!!! That was a joke. Welcome to the Monkey Business Crew, Solaris.
-
I don't mind bein' eaten!
-
Why don't you start as A CORPSE I decided I simply had to have another character, so, inorder to keep in line with their multi rule of not having one's characters work together, Mister Boddy, a corpse on the go, is many suburbs away, munching up experience. In local news, my cop character has some ammo and just whacked his first zombie. Woo-hoo!
-
Ok. My cop pwns like mad. I just destroy zombies. Im now level 6, and Ive killed 7 or so zombies. Probably more. I have 3 shotguns, and 5 pistols, and I try to keep them all loaded. Its very nice to see this: "You fire at the zombie for 10 damage. They Die."
-
Thanks Nickdanger :p I'm playing as Kei Makino Thanks for the tips everyone! I also started a cop called Dashiel who landed in some random location because of the rule about not playing your characters together. I noticed flare guns get set off from time to time. Is that a signal somebody needs help?
-
Technically, yes. What it actually means is every zombie in the area goes "Ooh, meat!". So it's probably best to say a silent prayer for the flare firer and get on with your day. If you wanna meet up with the rest of the monkeys, we're currently in Pitneybank, facing a fair few zombies. We could do with any help we can get.
-
I think flare guns do quite a bit of damage as well... 15 points per shot or something. Unfortunately, using them also brings attention to yourself, so it's a trade-off. I'm pulling my primary character out. My secondary character, f1r3b1rd (yeah, laugh all ya want) will be arriving in the next two days, I hope.
-
I ran out of APs just as I entered a building and closed the door. And found a zombie in the building with me. Oh dear.
-
Which building? I've probably got 10APs or so to spare right now, and a newfound axe.
-
Flare guns do a lot of damage, but the chance to hit sucks. I don't think the "Somebody fired a flare" message happens when you aim it at a zombie (or another human), but I'm not 100% sure on that.
-
Thanks Blaise. I've joined up with the monkey resistance though I'm right out of action points at the moment; spent the day searching for health packs. Hang in there Alnedra!
-
No worries. Turned out the zombie was waiting for revivifying. Phew!
-
Argh! I left the game for a few days and returned to find myself murderified and zombiefied. I am now going to wander around as a zombie for a little while, but if anybody stumbles across a zombie named jacobw2, please feel free to revivify me. (When I get bored with zombying--probably within a week--I will post a specific location along with a request for healing.) I will wander away from Pitneybank to feast on human flesh, to make sure I don't eat any of my fellow monkeys.
-
See me chase that Zom, Knickers? Heh hehe hehe
-
I just wacked a pretty badass Zom in front of the current safehouse (it had 60hp). I'm sure he'll wakeup with a headache due to my newly mastered HEADSHOT (byebye xp). Rex Mantooth is a firefighter not to be messed with.
-
Friends, today the Monkeys have proven themselves a force to be reckoned with. For those of you not in the know, I refer to the fact that today the monkeys found out that none other than MortVivant himself and his Deadite Army were lurking in the vicinity of our beloved jungle gym. The Monkeys, of course, could not stand for this and immediately sprang into action. In a head to head battle, friends, we Monkeys kicked their ever lovin' undead asses! MV escaped to fight another day, I'm afraid, but with some newfound respect for the Monkey Business Crew. A great day, but one that will forever change our Malton lives, I'm afraid. Yes, I fear that a Zombie Jihaad will soon be declared against us, and that our beloved Jungle Gym will be swarmed from every side. When that happens, we must stand strong, we must stand true, and above all, we must stand together. If we do not, we are surely lost. If we do, whether we win or lose, we shall truly have achieved greatness. I mean, as far as this stupid game is concerned. You're still on your own as far as real life is concerned.
-
Whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.
-
I'm going to fight in the malls and cinemas.
-
Death to Zombies!! er.. well.. more death!
-
Aaaaargh! Arrrghhhhh! AH AH AH AH AH hhheeellllllpppppp AHRGRHAAAAAAHAHahahhhhhhh.....
-
Well that can't be good. Anyone have a revivification syringe handy for prismatic? Though maybe he was just watching the American version of The Office
-
Monkeys may wish to make sure their characters are still kicking, as a major assault just went (is going?) down at one of our safehouses. See the wiki for details. Last I checked no z's inside, and everyone looked alright, but there are 29 dead bodies outside, some of them looking less dead by the second.
-
My safehouse in Dartside was just overrun. I'm hurt, alone, and doing my best to dodge the shamblers. It will take a couple of days, but can I come up and join you guys? I'm playing as Rembert Pantsfish.
-
Get your monkey butt over here, Hlewagast.
-
Hlewagast, check your email.
-
I have a syringe. Planning on a restocking run tonight. I... liked the US version of the Office...
-
It looks like the horde that chased me out of Dartside is rampaging eastward. Milverton Place PD in Kinch Heights just got cleaned out...
-
Did anyone else see Shaun (of the Dead) on Doctor Who? I think it's about episode 5/6 that we're up to.
-
He's good. Quite cute, in a rather cheesy way. He also narrates the Doctor Who Confidential episodes. The episode you're thinking of is The Long Game, and Simon Pegg plays The Editor. Man, I would have loved to give the introductions to that one: "Doctor, meet The Editor. Editor, meet the Doctor." Heh. /fangirl
-
Episode 7, actually. No, it's not the tiniest bit pathetic that I knew that right away, it's not. I actually thought it wasn't his finest moment, but there were such wonderful turns by all the supporting women in that one (especially the sexy nurse!) and he didn't really have all that much to work with. Still, pretty good, and fun to see for sure. It made me want to watch Shaun of the Dead right away again afterwards. I fucking love that we're now discussing DW on the zombie thread. This thread REWLS.
-
I... liked the US version of the Office... Actually, what I've seen of it is decent. Perhaps I'm just bitter that the new DW won't be over here in the States for awhile... (-:
-
Help! I'm stuck in the Farmer building with no ap, the doors wide open, and a zombie. If someone helps me out here, I promise to never, ever, let my ap get this low this far from safety again!!!
-
OK, the zombie is down to 26 HP and the are doors quite strongly barricaded. Now out of AP too. We need help here, Monkeys!
-
Damn, I only have 6AP and I'm too far away to help!
-
I'm very sorry, folks, I'll have to knock the barricade down, as I'm 25 XP away from free-running. Sorry!
-
Thanks so much for the help! If I can ever help you out in turn, I will!
-
No no. It's knock barriers down. As in, barriers of injustice, barriers of--oh, never mind. Wrong thread.
-
Ahhh crap, I'm outta AP and stuck outside of Bromley. Can any monkies knock the barrier down a little so I can jump in when I get one AP?
-
Grover, have you checked the wiki? There's another option for you if you can hang on just a bit longer...
-
Hey, our main safehouse is down to loosely baricaded! Anyone out there got construction?
-
Got it back up to "quite strongly" now.
-
Ill be joining you guys later, once I get more ap (and ammo). Im level 8 now. w00t!
-
The horde is coming... Tum Tuuum Tuuuuuum.
-
Major zombie invasion last night. get out there and kick some zombie ass!
-
I searched around and got some ammo and a GPS unit. I'm saving some AP in reserve, though, in case places need barricading or zombies need shooting!
-
(As I am unaware of this wiki's locale) I'm stuck in Pegton - the area around the Rowcliffe building is infested, but the rest of it is seemingly empty - and none of the buildings seem to be barracaded. Looks like good hiding ground, just in case you all need somewhere to skedaddle to in the future.
-
Could all the monkeys check in on the wiki as to their location (and leave a timestamp, please). We've got some major bad guy movement and here's hoping everybody's okay.
-
I hear and obey.
-
Well. We're not all ok... Grr.
-
I'm directly south of everyone, barracaded in pretty good. I don't know what skill to get next, though.
-
Would that be "grr" or "grr...brains!" ?
-
That would be "Grrragh." *sigh* My first death, too.
-
Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. *dies*
-
I forgot I couldn't just re-enter a "heavily barricaded" building but had to go around to s "strong" one. Consequently, I miscounted the amount of action points I needed. Consequently, I'm outside. @#$%! @#$%! @#$%! @#%$!
-
@#$%! They found me! Ah! Argh! AUUUUUURGH! MUST. GET. ONE. ACTION. POINT. ARRRRRRRRRRGH!
-
Oh lordy, that was too close. /resolves to read map a bit more carefully next time.
-
A lesson to all to keep the map up-to-date!
-
..and a few spare APs. Bearguy - go to the wiki and let us know where you are.
-
Well, being a zombie wasn't all that much fun... I'm now hanging around waiting to be revived--location in the wiki.
-
I'm currently on a syringe hunt. If I find any I'll let you know.
-
shit, where is everyone? I need a revive. Im outside boutcher alley police department now, Ill move to where a syringe is...
-
Will you people stop dying already? I can't keep up on the syringes! I've promised to revive prismatic7, but if I happen upon an extra syringe, I'd be glad to help you out, jabobw or Steve Harvey. I believe VeraGemini's character Violet might have a spare syringe or two...
-
I'm healed up thanks to Violet and a couple bottles of beer. My location is now up on the wiki. On the flip side, my zombie character is having no end of trouble. Just when I get to some quality munching--ergo quality experience--some live bloke goes and offs me with a headshot. Then there's all the zombies that apparently attack each other. Man I'm tired of dying with that character.
-
My lvl 8 with 92 xp got headshotted! Noo! I was saving up for advanced shotguns! This guy donkey keeps picking on me. Im gonnna kick his ass.
-
Has the wiki password been changed? I can't log in.
-
Neither can I. Disturbing....
-
Me either. Have we been infiltrated?
-
I can't get in either. Crap.
-
Nor can I. Maybe blag decided he doesn't like us anymore. /sniffle
-
Hah, I was just coming here to ask if it was just me, despite trying two browsers. Gosh, haven't been in this thread for a while! Hello, thread!
-
With the wiki down, where am I supposed to brag about having made it to level 14? ...oh right, I just did. ;) I just bought body-building, but that means I have room for 10 more HP, so if anyone wants the XP for healing me, I'm in the Sprod.
-
Well, if anyone tried to hack it, I've got bad news for them: The site is protected with a VIRUS WALL! Gets started 6 messages down, made me laugh.
-
Situation tense at the Mumford! Woke up to find barricades down and a Z inside. Headshot the blighter and dumped the body, closed the doors and got the barricades back up but the area is crawling with rotters. Tracicle is still sleeping so I'll try to hold them off as long as I can.....
-
*looks outside, finds no zombies* So the attack on Pitney never really materialized?
-
I just wanted to say that I now have 10 DNA extractors. This is a serious game flaw.
-
My zombie character has 506 XP and nothing to spend it on. Is the only way to level up to buy new skills (brain rot just doesn't seem worth it at the moment)? Human is much more fun to play, I'm really liking the shotgun at the moment. *peeks outside mall* It's quiet. Too quiet.
-
I had 13 at one point. Threw away half of them, and I think I'm up to 7 again. Syringes are tough to find.
-
I think that shopping may help with syringes. It used to take me at least 30 ap to find any, but since I picked up the shopping skill I seem to be finding them every 10 or so. Could be luck, I suppose.
-
The SW corner looks quite bad, actually. Half the buildings are bust open and zombies wandering inside. I ran out of APs just as I found an empty building and closed the doors.Just need one zombie with Memories of Life to come along, and I'm dead meat.
-
I'm running into a lot more zombies wearing flak jackets, which I'm finding a bit anoying. Just got bargain hunting, so am stocking up on essentials at the mall before heading out to get enough XP for headshot. If there's a limit on how much you can carry I might have to ditch some of my arsenal as well (although how my character can carry 6 shotguns and 8 pistols while jumping from roof to roof is a bit of a mystery).
-
Why the fuck is that dumbass mayor ordering almost ALL of his cops off of search and rescue and instead sending them stop looters!? That has to be the most asinine thing that's happened yet!
-
Uh... wrong thread. But still appropriate. Let's pretend this happend in Malton.
-
It could have happened in Malton. *nods* I didn't realize monkeys were still hanging in the SW or staying over there; I haven't been trying to kill zombies or barricade down there at all. I can't come help now, unfortunately, no AP. And my zombie got headshotted again, when I was only 20XP away from getting Scent Fear. Gragh. Graaaagh!
-
Oops, also meant to say - drill _here, the limit is, I think, 28 items, though it might be 26, I forget now.
-
Any word on the wiki? I just tried to get in again and still no luck.
-
Has anyone tried e-mailing blag?
-
I went exploring; obviously a bad move. I even saw the incresed numbers of zombies and thought I'd be safe. Silly me. Thanks for the help, islander. If anyone has some medkits handy, I'm going to head north again.
-
On the plus side, I just headshotted my first zombie.
-
I'm low on APs and ammo so Nanook is stuck for a while. I'll try heading north in a few hours.
-
And what the hell is going on with the wiki?
-
I just sent blag a message. We'll see.
-
Hello chaps - sorry been out at client's office all day so couldn't keep an eye on things. We had over 18,000 password attempts on the wiki within a couple of hours; I got an email from the server to warn me so I took it offline temporarily. Will investigate and report back.
-
18,000? *boggles* I swear that only five of those were me, thinking it must be either a problem on my end, or just a complete inability to type, heh. Thanks for looking into it - you're a star. ( ( ( for blag!
-
I suspect Mort.
-
OK, all should be back to normal. 'House' is on, I'll be back in an hour...
-
Yay! Nanook made it back in one piece! Picked up bodybuilding along the too, if anyone wants to top me up.
-
I passed Nanook on my way to get some first aid kits. Which, I have aplenty, but I seem to have hit the IP limit after only using half my AP for the day :-/ (And no, I don't use AOL or any other large ISP. Gonna try releasing and renewing my IP, see if that fixes things up)
-
And that ^ was the 1000th comment to this thread.
-
I had the same thing yesterday, VeraG. Wonder if Kevan's doing something different.
-
Oops, also meant to say - drill _here, the limit is, I think, 28 items, though it might be 26, I forget now. Thanks livii, definitely time to ditch some guns...although not too many though. I'll keep the mobile phone though in case they ever start working (Will zombies be able to use them? it'd be great to ring someone and then only hear 'Graagh' meaning they'd been zombiefied). Thanks for the sterling work blag, I guess the password attempts might mean someone's taking the monkey force seriously (a little too seriously perhaps).
-
Hmm. Something's wrong again.
-
And up again. Things might be a little funny for the next couple of days while these kids wear themselves out.
-
Something may indeed be up against the Unstoppable Monkey Force. I just got an email saying someone had requested Violet's UD password. Or, y'know, it could be a coincidence. But if someone is trying to brute-force the wiki, AND some of y'all see those password request emails too, then... someone is taking the game way, way too seriously.
-
One of our hidey holes is without barricades (I didn't notice until I was out of ap -- as soon as I get some I'll go back to help out). Check the wiki!
-
SUPER SECRET MONKEY MISSION CURRENTLY BEING PLANNED ON WIKI! ALL INTERESTED MONKEYS REPORT!
-
THERE IS NO MONKEY MISSION NICKDANGER IS A COMMUNIST ANARCHIST AND HAS BEEN DISPOSED OF CARRY ON AS NORMAL NOTHING IS WRONG CONTINUE WITH YOUR DAILY BUSINESS
-
At least a couple of those attempts were me. How am I supposed to access the wiki? My first character was a victim of the Davenport Cinema fiasco, but now I want to join up with you guys...
-
If you know where the wiki is, you should have the password... I'm a little confused? Speaking of which, anyone who hasn't checked the wiki in the past couple of days should check now. We may have trouble coming to our quiet little subdivison.
-
Done and done. And sent.
-
Should we trust anyone who uses neckro foran e-mail address? Not that I wouldn't tru....ahh hell, GET A ROPE!!!
-
Hey, guess what? I'm freakin' dead. Thanks The Many!
-
But now there are many of the Many who have joined you. (-: I'm sure we can revivify ya, check in at the wiki
-
I'm dead too! Help help help! (Thanks to all who tried to heal me, but damn, those Many are persistent!) Also, I'd like to say that I was actually finished off -- and thrown outside the building (location in the wiki!!) by a 10th level human called Daisy. I will persist in lying quietly at my location until someone helps me out.
-
meredithea, I'm where you are. Can you stand up? I'll extract your DNA and revive you.
-
I just stood up!
-
I'm alive. Aliiiiiiiive! Thanks!
-
We'll, uh, "take care" of Daisy.
-
[insert "pushing up Daisies" joke here]
-
[insert Daisy_May reference] * * * Public Service Message to all Monkey Zombie Hunters * * * The "Conversation Logs" section of the wiki chat is very much like this thread, except that it doesn't push around 1000+ comments at a time. See y'all on ZombieChat! * * * End of Public Service Message * * *
-
There are a great many zombies trying to attack the giddings mall at this time.
-
I heard there was a sale on braaaaaaaainsss....
-
Too bad the zoo trip never really took off.
-
Monkeys who are interested in joining in a regular (weekly?) combat strike force attack brigade should visit the wiki.
-
Has anyone else had trouble logging into the wiki?
-
yep... me! has the password changed?
-
I think the server got attacked. I thought I built the barricade up before I left.
-
Man, now I'll NEVER get revived.
-
jacobw go stand in the junkyard [88, 40] if you can and I'll revive you there next time I log on. Just let me know on this thread when you are there, assuming the chat forum is still down. That goes for any monkeys who need a revive. Any monkeys who have wandered away from Pitneybank, we are expecting a attack by the Scourge soon, that's the rumor anyway. We could use your help.
-
Solaris, thanks--I'm now there and awaiting a revive.
-
Are you ok jacobw? You can freerun through the junkyard, though beaman school, to the mall.
-
Thanks--now revived and heading for safety!
-
(now I'll kill him)
-
Huh, wiki's still not working. Well, SE Giddings went down overnight, I got bitten but by the time I logged in, the barricades were back up and I've been healed. So, that was anti-climactic, as it were. I'm going to head out to see what hunting there is. Should I announce to my very, very scared crowd that there's another strong force (I won't name us) operating on their side? Might calm them down.
-
NW Hildebrand succumbed last night, too. No big deal -- I can now buy every zombie skill in the world with my 2200+ previously useless accumulated XP. *Googles for brain recipes*
-
Oh man! I'm dead again. That's what I get for not loggin in for a few days. If anyone wants to revive me, I'd be ever so appreciative. I'm currently one of 58 bodies lying outside of Morrish. Email me so we can arrange a time and place.
-
Hello chaps. Sorry, was away for a week or two. Website now back up and running
-
Aha.ha.ha. All three of my characters got killed on the same night. All three were inside heavily barricaded buildings that got run over. Great. Not really in any hurry to get revived, especially for my secondary and tertiary characters. I'll wander around and kill some zombies in Pitneybank.
-
Uh oh-- it looks like Pittsburgh might go the way of Malton...
-
Looks like I should get myself a "go bag" just in case the MD suburbs get infested...
-
If you guys are still playing, can someone email me the details of how to meet up with you? I'm (Nestory Makhno) currently on the other side of the map in Lockettside.
-
Could someone please email dj? Welcome dj! Why was I here again...oh yes, that's right, could everyone please check the wiki, we have a situation.
-
Does Nestory Makhno have a groovy 'tache still even now he's a zombie? So RIAU stood for Revolutionary Insurrectionary Army of the Undead and not Ukraine as I'd been led to believe?
-
Thanks to a temporal distortion event, Nestor Makhno has been plucked from the Ukraine during a battle against White Army forces. He still has his 'tache and currently believes the Zombies to be remnants of a Red Army division he recently defeated.
-
It appears I was killed last night while asleep. I'm at Davies Avenue [89, 40] if someone can rev me..
-
I've moved to Stibbs Row [90, 44] cos of Zeds. If I don't get revved before, I'll move to the monkey revive point later.
-
Can someone email me details of where you guys actually are based, or address of site you are using to coordinate? Currently sitting somewhere in Wray Heights, feeling very uneasy about a couple of people in the same building.
-
Just sent you an email, dj, hope it's not a double.
-
nope, not a double. cheers!
-
guys, I lost the site address cause I had to delete my favorites. I remember the pass and name, will you please send the link to KetsuekiSword@msn.com?
-
Currently wandering around Pitneybank. Is the Wiki still functioning? (And can I get in on the action?)
-
Sorry chaps - hadn't checked back here in a while. Did anyone ever get in touch with you?
-
Anybody know whats up with the Wiki?
-
It was okay the last time I checked.
-
Sorry, my bad. For some reason, my browser forgot the password, and I thought it was a problem with the server. Everything's fine now.
-
anyone still playing this? I just logged back in for the first time and months and I can't remember what the wiki password was so I can't tell if anyone is still active.
-
That was so last year.
-
I think the wiki password got changed, I can't get in either. And my ISP uses very few proxies, I can't use my free accounts, only my paid one.
-
I still play quite a bit....but then again, I am so last year.
-
I've gotten back into playing too, though again it's slowing down and not as interesting. I've got characters in Giddings and Caiger, and that's getting a bit dull. Still, give a shout if you see me about - livii's in Giddings, Gruff McSurly's in Caiger, and James Bigglesworth is shambling about somewhere eating brains, yum.
-
Hey, celphones work! I remember *really* *really* wanting them to last summer.
-
I still pop in once in a while - Nanook is hanging around Giddings, but it lacks the fun of the early days.
-
Any members of Los Monos still floating around? I just found my old account, discovered that I am still human (who knows how) and wandered around, shot up a zombie and popped back into Giddings Mall. The whole of P-bank is very boring -- apparently there was a massive zombie-siege last month in which heaps of humans were munched, and according to the spiffy new map on the UD Wiki, most of the real action is in the centre of Malton. Edgecombe, just south-west, is in the red. And if you haven't been introduced to Urban Dead yet, you must try it! I forgot how fun it is, even if the action points are used up too quickly. There's a bit more variety these days too.
-
I just died and I'm wandering around, tearing down walls. I'm a free agent (having left Los Monos since I thought I was the last one), but will rejoin if there are others.
-
I was reading all the comments on this page yesterday for kicks and can't quite believe we were so gung-ho about it. I doubt we'd get the same level of organisation again, but it would be fun to try.
-
Oh, P-bank is overrun! Zombies are hanging around just north of the fort and making their way toward the mall. And...I'm infected. Gah. Help me, I'm in NW Giddings!
-
Wow, this takes me back. Waaaay back. My zombie kitten, long abandoned, stood up on short tottery legs. Dunell Hills looks desolate. No sign of my former squad....
-
Where on earth is Dunell Hills? Get your zombie butt over here so I can headshot you!
-
Hmmm... I like the idea of a zombie gang...
-
Graaaarh... SE Giddings is safe, but the barricades in NW were dropping off faster than I could refresh so I'm glad I couldn't see how many were outside.
-
The lurching corpse of Skip Jones has joined tracicle at Walrond Square.
-
I'll have to get myself some syringes, then?
-
Right. I have a syringe but now it costs 10AP to use it on you. I saw you at Walrond but didn't want to revive you until you're online. I'll come back about 6-7 hours from now...
-
I think that the "get revived and stand around like an idiot until the zombies eat you" thing got fixed. If I remember, you now just fall over and look like a corpse until you log in. In other words: Stick me! Stick me! Stick me!
-
Or not. I could be a pet zombie or something. I dunno.
-
Alright... Revivified! In the auto place. Still infected... So cold...
-
All's quiet. No zombie activity around P-bank right now.
-
I ran out of action points while trying to find a safe place yesterday. Today I'm a zombie...
-
Shuffle on over to P-bank, then. I got some needles with your name on 'em.
-
I'm a bit of a zombie n00b. From the map, is P-bank = Pim bank or Pitney bank?
-
Oh, that would be Pitney Bank, aka The Ancient Monos Homeland.
-
Hey Roryk, what's your character name? I want to make sure I inject the right shambling corpse.
-
Incredible that this thread is still going, and I randomly happened to check in! Well, maybe not that randomly, I've been playing for the last two years. And have 24339 XP. It's pretty sad. Anyways, I will make my way over to the old wilds of P-bank shortly to meet y'all again.
-
So fill us in, adrianhon, what's been happening in Malton for the last two years? Is "The Many" still terrorizing everyone?
-
my zombie name is ruairik lurching towards pitney bank, but it might take a couple of days...
-
Just south of p-bank: should make it there tomorrow.
-
Oh, wow. This takes me back bigtime. Maybe I'll dust off my characters as well.
-
What if I told you that there are now working cell phones and tunable radios... How could you possibly resist those sweet plums, dayfat?
-
By the way, we may wish to set up a Malton Radio de los Monos for ourselves.
-
im in ur suburb, clawing ur d00ds
-
Okay, I'm in P-bank standing around without APs on Couch Avenue.
-
Nick: Let's see, I spent about a year proudly serving in the Ridleybank Resistance Front zombie brigades, and then turned freelance, and as far as I know, there isn't much organised gameplay going on other than the ever-present Mall Tours. I suspect, however, that Kevan will be doing stuff in the near future to reinvigorate team play... I have no evidence for this, just a vague feeling. Anyway, I'm in SE Giddings, fully loaded up with 70 rounds in my pistols and ready to wreak righteous damage!
-
BTW, setting up a Malton Radio de los Monos is a very good idea.
-
Damn, killed again. Now I'm at Walrond Square if anyone has a spare revivification thingy.
-
Are you there now? I went through Walrond, but none of the three zombies were you. If you're on now, stand up.
-
Better yet, stand up and shuffle down to the carpark to take you somewhat out of harms way. Leave a note here when you do and I'll try to revive you.
-
Carpark=3 spaces south of walrond.
-
Thanks Nick, but "Nurse Ratchet" has revivified me. My status is now "infected" - I need to read up on this stuff.
-
Gotcha, rory. Now get inside!
-
Infected means each AP you use costs you a hit point. Don't move further than you need. I'm looking for ammo at the mall at the moment.
-
Walked all the way from Mornington. *pant pant* Got zombified halfway here though. Currently in the wasteland due south of Billet Road Fire Station. Revive, anyone? Thankee!
-
Hey! Alnedra! Back from the dead, so to speak...
-
We should look for a new neighborhood. Pitneybank's kind of crowded with other groups now. We gotta stand out! We gotta shine!
-
I'm for heading to one of the red zones, or at least south to the fort where apparently there's some action. Alnedra: There's apparently a revive spot just south of the mall, but I'm out of AP and can't remember the name of the place. I think it's Walrond. Also hi!
-
It is Walrond. Just south of the Morris building. just shamble over there and hang out. Someone'll pop out and revive you. Oh, and mobile phones work for messages to other players so find one if you don't have one already. AND link to your profile her so that we can put each other on our contact lists. mine is: http://urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=24454

http://urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=826696
-
Thanks for the heads up, guys! http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=34693
-
http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=12515 I know there are people here with lower user numbers than mine.
-
Why is Skip Jones a member of L.O.S. M.O.N.O.S. when the rest of us are in plain old Los Monos? Alnedra, I see you at Walrond. I'll find you in #mofirc later so you can stand up and be revived, if you like.
-
Why is Skip Jones a member of L.O.S. M.O.N.O.S. when the rest of us are in plain old Los Monos? That's classified. I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you, and then revive you. And then I'd be out of AP and the zombies would get me.
-
Much obliged, tracicle! Although it might be a bit hard to locate me in mofirc today, I'll be away from a computer most of the time. But no rush, zombies don't get any older, they just get... uh... something.
-
Greener?
-
I already got you, alnedra. Now give me money?
-
It seems Giddings may soon be under attack as the Mall Tour continues its undying run. Excitement? Probably not, it's Pitneybank.
-
*passes the buck to Nickdanger*
-
I've been carrying around a radio tuned to 28.60 and haven't heard anything, so we could probably use that frequency. It's a public band, meaning that you don't need the radio skill to tune in, so that's its major advantage and disadvantage.
-
Sounds good. I'll find a radio and tune in too.
-
There's some kind of crazy faction-feud heating up around our mall. CDF vs. CGR. Not to mention a "text rapist". More monkeys need to get cell phones.
-
I just got killed by a pker. Goes by the name of "poptop". According to his profile: After months of fighting the undead, too many zombies munching on his bum, one revive too many...Poptop, has finally POPPED HIS TOP!!!
-
Is a text rapist what it sounds like? I've heard the phrase but no definition. I HAS A JENERATER
-
I've finally got free running, which makes everything much easier. I've found a radio and am tuned in to 28.60 Will look for a cell phone.
-
You can get cell phones in the tech store. Okay, so we gotta generator... now we need a monkey house. Any suggestions?
-
Something a little further south, away from the mall and closer to the fort?
-
I cannot believe you guys are still playing this :)
-
We're gonna win it this time.
-
We're gonna kill ALL the zmobies!
-
I took out one zed at Farmer, but ran out of ammo on the other, who's down to 12HP or so. Dragged out the bodies but can't repair the building and barricade until all zombies are gone.
-
Farmer building looks clear now, but I don't have the Construction skill so no barricading.
-
I'm all out of AP for now and holed up in Giddings again, and away for the weekend taking photos of billboards. Don't let the zombies eat me!
-
There was an attack going on next door to the Farmer. I lightly barricaded the library to slow them down, but that's all I could do. It's going to be a pretty combative area.
-
I'll quickly sneak over now and barricade some more. ...oh, it's up to extremely heavily, as is Farmer, so all good. Still four zombies outside the library and one outside Farmer, but all looks okay for now.
-
I'm sorry to say that I can now tell you that, yes, "text rape" is exactly what it sounds like. I hope this isn't a growing trend.
-

-
Oh. Oh dear. Actually, I'm all levelled up as far as humans go. I'm tempted to leave myself out to be zombified just so I can get all the zed levels too.
-
Yeah, I saw that, roryk. Well, I kind of like the idea of a zombie gang. I have a pretty good shuffler that could swing by and gnaw brains with you guys.
-
Ooh, let's do it! I'll go outside and sit by that monument near the mall and wait to have my brain eaten.
-
Get a plaza you two! Sheesh... So a nice person has revivified me (after being killed three times at Walden), but I'm still infected. Made it to Giddings Mall. Maybe I should start some new characters. Police station south west of Giddings was full of zombies a few minutes ago.
-
Succumb to the Zombie Dawn! All the cool people are doing it. By whom I mean tracicle.
-
Skip Jones is zombie bait! I'm totally lurching now, dude, it's awesome. By which I mean Graaah! Harmanz!
-
Which way?
-
To the fort, safety in numbers. Not that it matters, I've been rekilled already.
-
Odd things about being a zombie: It's actually harder to stay "dead" than it was to stay alive. I've been revived three times so far.
-
Get brain rot, then. I think I did you once, forgot it cost 10AP, got stranded, zombified, then revived.
-
I'm hanging around in the fort, and I keep getting eaten by my fellow zombies. It's pretty much the only way to get Experience Points because there are no tasty tasty harmanz around to nibble. I don't know; zombies have no sense of community.
-
Ah crap, some smartarse has trapped me in the fort's gatehouse! I smashed the barricades but I haven't got whatever skill I need to open the gates, and someone closed them on me. Sniff. Not even anything to eat.
-
My human character keeps getting killed; and my zombie character keeps getting revived. Maybe I should swap their roles?
-
Zombies killing zombies, survivors killing survivors... tut tut.
-
Okay, if anyone is still playing this, go right now, immediately, to the Quartly Library in Roftwood. This is by far the coolest place in Malton because: 1. A policy of not-barricading; 2. Zombie lecture series; 3. Talent show.
-
I'm on my way. I've been logging in twice a day, so I'm never fully AP'ed.
-
Damnit. I've used my APs for the day. Note to self: Check MoFi after coffee but before urbandead.
-
Hmm, Urban Dead, I remember that back in the day. Wonder what happened to my accounts... Bet the game gets a boost of users when they release Resident Evil: Franchise Apocalypse.
-
I saw Alnedra's dead body outside a building last week. Then I had to go to work.
-
I've got all the zombie levels now. I have nothing to do. Sigh.
-
Go to the library. It's truly odd.
-
Isn't anyone going to help undead Alnedra?
-
I would, but I'm mostly dead myself.
-
Library. On my way. ...I mean Raaargh.
-
HEY ALNDEDRA WAKE UP!!! Did that help?
-
Hey rory, you know there's a map right? With a route finder and stuff... Here.
-
Thanks Nick. I've been mostly using the map on the wiki. Wasn't there a big zombie raid on the Quartly library a day or two ago?
-
A bunch of "Zombie jihadists" stopped by to say hi, but I don't think it was a raid, exactly. The open door policy seems to lead to confusion sometimes.
-
I'm in Ridleybank where there are many boring libraries. Which library are we talking about?
-
No, no, you want the Quartley Library in Roftwood (66, 52,).
-
*does the zombie shuffle over there* There's a buttload of zombies but not a lot of action. Did I miss the zambah party?
-
Oh yeah. Looks like we all got wiped out yesterday. A combined assault from PKers and mean Zombies. Bummer. WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?!?!?!?!
-
I wonder how long it'll take to put back together...
-
# You took a Headshot from Prisonner Of Today the Zombie Hunter! You will need to spend an extra 5AP to stand up. (6 hours and 9 minutes ago)Yeah, nice one Nick. Funny how it turns into a den of violence just after my zombie character gets there.
-
Yeah, some human called Skip Jones actually revived me today. I showed him though; I jumped straight back out the window. Skip Jones, I'm coming for you!
-
Yeah, some human called Skip Jones actually revived me today. I showed him though; I jumped straight back out the window. Skip Jones, I'm coming for you!
-
I started on the library barricades but ran out of AP.
-
Funny how this thread sort of comes back to life every now and then.
-
Well, I guess Mr. and Mrs. Lurch here obviously must have led the combined forces of Undead and Pker evil to the Quartly Oasis of Peace and Understanding and Love and Reading. The library is clear now, and the barricades are probably going to come down soon. And then we'll have our Oprah book club meeting.
-
So, on a lark, I checked in on my old UD accounts, and, well, it looks like the Zombie Apocalypse has finally come to Malton. According to the stats page, zombies outnumber survivors by a ratio of nearly 6:1, and every building, I mean every building is ruined. Kinda neat, really.
-
Since they are already dead, zombies could be sent into Malton's melted reactor core to do the work of shoring it up...
-
I wonder how much of a mission it would be to head back in there now and put things right.
