I guess these days are over.

On a similar note, I'm always greatly amused when the straight folks get down with the Village People's YMCA, a song about getting lucky man-on-man style in the dorms. Why did this song ever get popular as a ballpark sing-along? Are people really that clueless or is it just part of the gay conspiracy to turn everyone homo in our grand recruitment plan?

(YMCA is also a HUGE song at wedding receptions, especially in the Midwest. i always get a kick out of that.) this is a great site! nicely done, informative... and i had no idea this project had been going on for several years now. very cool.

I don't know about now, but (straight) people really did used to be that clueless. I remember when that song came out I was home for Xmas vacation and my kid brother started blasting the single and telling us all to dance, dance! So we did, enjoying the good beat, and he was laughing like a loon. This was not long before he told us he was gay, whereupon I was able to enjoy a good retrospective laugh at myself.

Cool site, Argh! I'm a huuuuuuge baseball fan, but I have to admit their sexual politics leave a lot to be desired. As for the YMCA song, I like irony on a scale that big.

Baseball has sexual poliics?

To say nothing of the stadium classics "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions" -- by Queen.

Sometimes an exuberant song is just an exuberant song.*puts his pride on the shelf*

Does it matter that my coordination is so poor that I usually spell out ANPQ?
