Feh. If I can't use it to make a liger, which is pretty much my favorite animal, than who frickin cares?
I wanted to mate a unicorn with a platypus to make the world's first unipuses and platycorns.
Unipus? What good is a unipus? We don't go for less, BlueHorse. We go for more. Start with an </em>octo</em>pus, grab yourself a centipede (or better yet, a millipede!) and then we'll talk gene splicing.
The platycorn I can see. But that might just be my medication.

The Unicorn
Unicorns, so widespread once,
Are now just pubs and restaurants.
At ‘The Unicorn’ we gather
To have a pint of beer and blather.
Who knows, though! Humans too one day
May end up in the self-same way,
As pubs where meat and drink are served
(Our souls and bodies thus preserved!).
At ‘The Human’ they will meet,
Play cards, and have a bite to eat.
