Curious George - Best iPod Hacks?
I did a search on this, but you have to wade through a bunch of webpages to get to the meat of what the hacks offer, and even then I'm not sure I even know what the hell they are talking about half the time.
The first thing I am looking for is a way to share the music I have on my iPod with my sister who just bought herself one without linking her to my computer's music library (she's in Palm Desert and my computer's in Los Angeles). There's got to be a way to get the music on my iPod onto her her iPod easily.
Do we have any iPod experts who can reccomend some cool software that will extend my iPod's capabilities? BTW, my home machine is a mac.
Thanx

ahem. seriously, the tech just isn't quite there for direct ipod to ipod transfers. This describes how to do it in real time, with shoddy quality. If you have access to her computer, there are several different bits of software that will take the music off your ipod and put them on her machine. I don't have details on those, but a quick check of versiontracker.com should give you what you need.

She's got a mac as well. I'll check on version tracker, but you don't know any names off hand do you?

I grabbed xPod a long time ago, but Senuti looks like it may be better.

iPodrip kicks butt. gets all the shite and puts it into folders, band->album->song, based on the id3 tags. also, its free to use 10 (?) times.

I like ipod Agent (here's a site to download site. It lets you upload your ipod onto your computer, put your email on it, and even does wacky stuff like horoscopes. It's free.

Since you want to give her your music, the easiest way might be to just burn all the music to a data disk and give it to her. That won't give you instant gratification, I know, but it would be the easiest and wouldn't require installing any software (just amke sure its a data disk not a music disk or it will take a lot linger and she will jsut have to re-rip the music). If you really want the isntant gratification, ipodlounge.com and ipodding.com both have lists of software to use on pretty much any platform.

the version of iPod Agent on download.com is outdated, there's a new version (0.8.1.1) available here

Are you in Palm Desert with your iPod right now? If so, try using PodWorks to copy whichever songs you like from your iPod onto her Mac. It's $8 shareware and she'd need be running 10.2+

Thanks, khan-X. I wasn't paying close enough attention!
