Place the State
Test your knowledge of US geography! A fun little puzzle.
-
I managed to 70% with an average error of 269 miles. (I'm not from the US, so don't flame me!) It does become more like a jigsaw puzzle than a geography test in the end though...
-
76% with average error of 368 miles. I too am a furriner. And don't really know much about American geography, it turns out. Like Dr. Dodger says, after I got all the obvious ones (CA, TX and after last November, I will never forget where Ohio is...) it was more down to ability to do jigsaws. Fun, though; thanks Koko.
-
I am rubbish at this game...
-
86%, 26 mile average error. As a midwesterner, I got most of the middle pretty easily, it was the litle fellas in the northeast that punked me.
-
Hmmm, 62% / 317 mile avarage error. And 82% / 91 miles on the second run. Oh, yes, I am not from the US either.
-
Pretty good scores for the foreigners, I'd say. I got 84%. The northeast states were easiest, but I'm from Massachusetts. Too bad they don't have one for European or Mid East countries. That would separate the men from the boys.
-
76% / 119 miles. Got punked on Texas as I placed it not close enough for Simulator Sam's satisfaction. Not from US.
-
92%, 20 miles. Although I managed to really screw up Neberaska. But who can blame me, it's Nebraska.
-
74%, 139 miles. I'm another Britisher. I found the north eastern and western states pretty easy but got a bit lost in the midwest and south.
-
Men and boys get sorted,
-
94%, 5 miles. Although I lost points on Alaska (Alaska!) due to mouse slippage. I got a bunch of "edge" states first, which really helped, If I'd had to place Colorado or Kansas with no guides to work from, I'd never have hit them right. (I know what's next to what, but dropping something into an empty space with precision is rough) I have a vague memory of seeing one of these for Europe. try here: http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/European_Geography.htm (too lazy to code the link). For Europe I did 70% with an average error of 300 miles. Those tiny countries really killed me. (Lichenstein when you have neither of the neighboring countries to guide off is rough). The fact that I haven't driven across most of Europe probably didn't help either.
-
OK, I hate myself less now. I took Europe at the beginner level (smaller countries already placed) and managed an 100%.
-
90%/16 miles. Not bad, but I was hurt by having to start off with the square states. Haven't played Pin The Tail On The Donkey since my last stag and doe...
-
I sucked at that dart game, kitfisto. And I'm not sure, but I think it was insulting me.
-
Then we are even...
-
95%/13 on advanced beginner Europe. Damn Liechtenstein, tucked all the way down there...
-
Not sure how it's graded but I missed by a total of 6140 km in Europe overall. Not good. I missed Ankara by like two countries.
-
88 percent, 17 miles, 362 seconds of fun!
-
90%, 8 miles, boss didn't catch me. Thanks, koko!
-
92%, avg 19 miles, 383 seconds. Missed four, and two of those (Kansas and Tennessee) were only off by a tiny bit, as there were no borders nearby to line them up exactly.
-
I did exceptionally well. I was very pleased. My first two states were Wyoming and Missouri. I couldn't believe that I lost points for being 67 miles away on one and 30 or so on the other. Those were the two I was most proud of!
-
Additionally, I thought that mct's name was Middle Class Stool up until just a moment ago. It was always one of my favorite names because I had never thought of stools in terms of class. My affection for mct is no more.
-
90%, 9 miles. It started me with Tennesee and Wyoming, which was rather cruel. The only one I was rather ashamed of was Rhode Island, which I at first put to the east of Connecticut.
-
*hangs head in shame*
-
OMYGOD I am a BOY when it comes to the european landscapes, however, at USA I got 94% shoo...
-
100%; 50 perfect. Got a little lucky in the order -- Colorado & Wyoming came late, as did Kansas and Nebraska.
-
96%, 24 miles off. I missed a couple by a *lot*, but most of them I got right. Moving to the Midwest helped a lot.
-
92%, 20 miles, because I was stupid about wyoming v. colorado.
-
96%, 3 miles. And I'd like to know who thought that not being able to place Kansas exactly in the middle of the country without any landmarks (rivers, cities, highways, etc) and no states placed yet around it qualifies as an error. Silly.
