Calling all monkeys: Come help us break in our Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel, #mofirc, tomorrow (or today technically - January 23.)

A few of us (me, Melinika, bone, mothninja, Space Kitty, Mandyman, varj, waraw, and others) had a great time hanging out in #mofirc today, and a few of us thought it would be good to re-raise awareness for our IRC channel. So come join us sometime tomorrow (Sunday), whenever's convenient for you, and hopefully we can have some IRC fun. Here's a direct link for those of you with IRC programs that support them. If not, our channel is available by connecting to irc.slashnet.org, channel #mofirc. You must have an IRC client to chat. Try Chatzilla or mIRC if you don't have one. See you tomorrow!

  • Oh you should path, it's enormous fun! I'm a total newbie at IRC, but how can you pass up an opportunity to chat with lovely monkeys?

  • I'm not sure; I use mIRC. #mofirc was so much fun today! It was an international gathering: Canada, Sweden, Italy and Team America were all represented. It was like a meetup, except there was less alcohol and no one could see that I wasn't wearing pants. Everyone figure the IRC thing out and JOIN US!
  • I have Mozilla. I will try my best to figure it out and join. It's all very unknown and intimidating to me right now. I'll try giving it a whirl and setting up the infrastructure right now.

  • Oh Lord, I've created my own channel. I can't get out! Who on earth would want to get into my channel (so to speak)...Help me out!
  • I am registered as founder of #mofirc, but that's just because I was the first to take that iniative. I'll gladly give operator status to anyone willing to go trough the trouble of registering their nicknames. I had kind of given up on irc -- realtime chat in big channels doesn't hold my interest much these days, esp. since I kept missing the few monkeys that frequent the channel -- I was just idling.
  • cynnbad: try going to options:connect: servers: and then scroll to #slashnet and then try conencting again
  • slashnet under the IRC Networks tab
  • then do connect server and then it should give a choice of servers then type #mofirc
  • Well, so far, our peak number in the channel is 18 people. =)

  • A probably non-inclusive list of monkeys seen on IRC yesterday: mothninja, Melinika, mfpb, argh, hicinbaby, cynnbad, Fes, mandyman, varj, Skrik, Richer, Wedge, loto, mare, bratcat, fuyugare, Alnedra, surlyboi, me and probably others whom I am forgetting (and to them I offer my apologies).
  • No apology necessary. It seems that I'm just the forgettable sort.

  • Don't forget pmdboi and LandofGreenGinger :) we know you're out there! Was Gamecat there also? I seem to recall seeing his name, but now I'm not sure.

  • I was on last night from 9 until 11:00 Eastern. Now that I have a cell phone and am not so dependent upon my land line (I'm on dial-up, grr) I'll likely check in more often.
