Nice find!
cos no one likes corroded jazz
I just had to
Five. One to screw in the light bulb and four to stand around and say, "Man, if I had his studio time, I could have done that."
Excellent post -- thanks! For anyone who doesn't want to dig through the whole history of Polish jazz, I'll cut to the chase and say that Krzysztof Komeda (who had a tragically short career in the '60s) was one of the greatest figures in jazz and his record Astigmatic is one of my all-time favorites, and trumpeter Tomasz Stanko (who played on Astigmatic) is ably carrying on his tradition -- I highly recommend any of his records, but Litania and From the Green Hill are excellent places to start.
I love this. Am sending it on to a polka/punk bandleader whose life changed when he heard Rahssan (sp) Roland Kirk live.
