• Cute, but very, very old link.
• "He's so in touch with the street, its astonishing." Hadn't seen it yet... pretty funny. It's one of those satires you can love without being exactly sure what they're making fun of.
• Co-creators Chelsea and Jonah Peretti. NYT coverage from 2002 - Black-White Harmony: Are You Kidding Me? (free registration). I actually hadn't read the article before, but do recall the radio interview with Karen Grigsby Bates.
• Holy Shit! It's 1998 again?
• The guy (Jonah) is actually the same guy who once, rather famously, tried to turn a Nike customization option on the company. I don't remember many more specifics, unfortunately.
• He tried to use this online system to get custom shoes that said "sweatshop" on them. And while we're on the topic, there's always these, for anyone looking for shoes from a company founded on sticking it to Nike.
• the site is a satire of the racial stereotypes often faced by blacks in predominantly white environments. Interesting how the NYT completely failed to get it. The site is a (rather obvious and out of date from my POV) satire of white people who try too hard to prove how racially open-minded they are.
• Wow, he went after white people AND sweatshops?? I'm intrigued- what are his views on television preachers, the KKK, and puppy kickers?
