These guys have no idea how little a bullet costs compared to the time/disturbance of using a bayonet. But, well, it's just a bunch of dumbasses on a message board. I think the BOFH has talked about more gruesome stuff.

Doesn't that kind of hatred happen in civilian population during war? How did Americans or British see the Germans during the World Wars? Or the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War?
What's strange is that it's not the Government doing the hate propaganda like it used to be, it's some parallel organisation.

This indeed DOES need to be brought to light and into the public forum. Without such disclosure and reaction, we are bound to see Timothy McVeigh and his likes again.

This isn't a free-speech zone. The definitions of what are and are not 'good' MoFi posts have been fairly well defined by the site owner. If that's "SCARY" in caps, then time for the tinfoil hat.
Point of Monkey reaction to this being: a lot of people here are tired of this shit, already. Talking about it summore is not going to bring it "into the public forum" - I think you require national broadcast media for that, really. Few of us here are unaware of the LGF type of retards. Many come here to *avoid* them, you see.
As to your value judgements on the quality of responses, I have no comment.
samlam, in most instances I would agree. However, in this instance, there's a history between LGF and site like ours. I for one don't want to see dozens of LGF agitators coming in here and making the civility issue even worse.
These aren't demands for censorship. Allow me to explain:

Er... LGF is a public forum. Just like MoFi is. It is, in fact, a much more widely-known public forum than MoFi. Threads pointing to LGF comments on $TOPIC, and expressing outrage, are as old as the hills, both on big daddy MeFi and here.
Now, there's two points. First, in general terms, an FPP in one public forum linking to discussion in another public forum and then inviting public discussion about that public discussion is just a bad idea. Not only is it a waste of space, and a slippery slope to an utterly recursive, self-referential circlefuck, but it's... well, it's bad form. It can only lead to petty "my mod can beat up your mod" bickering. As a general rule, we don't like FPPs that point to MeFi threads either.
With specific reference to LGF, we usually don't link to them either as FPPs or even within threads because, well, they get uppity. They don't like lefties (or percieved lefties, which from their perspective includes just about everybody) linking to them and shaking their heads in dismay, and they tend to respond with an all trollin', service denyin', goatse linkin' frenzy of webrage. It's just not worth the hassle for a quick superiority wank over an unrepresentative extreme.
On preview: Nostril and shawnj are more concise than I, and quicker at typing.

i'd suggest a one-for-one exchange, in which chickenhawks and warpigs in the states who feel that the War OnBrown PeopleTerror™ is a good thing are exchanged for actual soldiers on the ground overseas. that way the men and women who volunteered to serve their country can get some well-deserved time home with their families, and LGF'ers (and other Limbaugh-types who scream and rant about how the lefties don't get it) can find out first-hand what the field conditions are in fallujah.
Lock new registrations for a day or two, ban blogrot. YAWN.

Given my druthers, I'd rather you hadn't linked to LGF, but it is useful to once in a while remind ourselves that such people exist. As Pogo said: "We have met the enemy and it is us."
Calm down, everyone. The reason that LGF'ers are so violent in their commentary is that they are relatively anonymous. I seriously doubt that very many there actually goes out in public and proclaim what they post online. They wouldn't last very long if they did.
And calls for censorship make us no better than they are. After the first rights abuse, it's all just variations in how far you are willing to go.
