Anyone remember the great Marx playsets from the 50's and 60's? I loved these things as a kid, collect them as an adult, and now they are in museums.
I enjoyed countless hours with these things when I was a kid. I was partial to the Blue & Gray Playset, but you have to love the old standard Battleground . There is another museum here, a magazine and even videos.
Apparently, Barzso Playsets and Conte Collectibles are trying to keep the spirit alive, although at a higher price. I'm saving for the Zulu set!
Like these?
;)
My dad has a whole room full of Marx trains. He goes to train shows in the winters and always comes back with something.
I had them as hand me downs from my parents until I lost them during the Cultural Revolution.
Remember having bits and pieces around for years from a western ranch one and I think from the Fort Apache one, too.
Few months ago, sweeping the tack room in the stable, came upon a wee rearing headless horse with marks of long-vanished dog teeth, in behind an old wooden file cabinet.
Couldn't bring myself to throw it away -- wot is wrong with me? Where am I keeping my brains? Why, in the same desk drawer with the chewed horse, of course.
