Red Sox Won!! Congradulations Boston!
  • Or congratulations, which ever works.
  • Amazing. They did it. But the question remains, WWJDD? Way to go, guys. It's pretty hard to break a curse, as I understand.
  • I'm generally a Yankee fan, but being a Mass native I'm damn happy for the fans at home. Nice job boys.
  • Here's the only link to look at.
  • die-hard yankee fan here. but i still gotta say congrats.
  • Paging Mr. Jeter
  • Now, if we can just get that curse offa the Cubbies.
  • What a fantastic playoff season for the Sox! Eight wins in a row! First team in history to win eight straight in the playoffs. Who was the MVP? That's my only beef. Officially, MVP was Manny Ramirez. My vote would go to David Ortiz. I read somewhere that David Ortiz is the same person who played for Seattle Mariners under the name David Arias. Who many others have played in the majors under two names?
  • I'm from St. Louis and was happy to see the Cards loose. It's what they get for f'ing around with the lineup in the early 90's and firing Joe Torre. I've been a Yankees fan since I moved to NY (they picked up Torre and no self respecting person who grew up in the 80's in St. Louis could ever be a Mets fan) but I was behind the Sox this year. The Yankees had been winning too much and it was getting kind of old. The Yankees can win again next year, unless this turns out to be true.
  • Nicely done, Sox-- the team with the most interesting hair in baseball. Ramirez's dreads, Martinez's mop, Arroyo's cornrows and Nixon's shitkicker 'stache, to say nothing of Caveman Damon, are champions. Will this prompt more creative coiffures in the major leagues? We can but hope.
  • Re mexican's "this" website (www.sportsgoons.com): totally satire, totally false. 1) Article is undated. What legit web news pages are undated? 2) The web sites shown in the PC "History" graphic don't exist. At least the first three I tried to find don't exist.
  • I think I'm gonna cry. Tears of joy. Thank you, Sox.
  • Plano- I run multiple porn sites and Joe Torre is a very good customer I'll have you know.
  • Thanks for backing me up, Argh.
  • Yay! Socks! er, uh, I mean Yay Sox!
  • I can't even begin to think about sleeping right now. And as for the next 2 days Boston, aw fuck it, you'll get your fish when I can get through the crowds to get it to you... Thank god I saw this once in my life!
  • Yay Sox! (now Go Cubs!) The MVP was a tossup, since there were many solid contributing players, IMHO. Honestly, though, I thought the pennant series vs. the yankees was Better Baseball(tm). I don't know, though. I wonder if baseball in Boston won't be quite as exciting now that they're just another team. Nothing like being the perennial underdog to build a fierce fandom.
  • The riot police moving through my neighbourhood are totally worth it. :) YAY Sox!
  • i count dots, any fun police / fan interactions?
  • Man, I was hoping after winning the first three the Sox would lose in seven, thereby securing even more legendary status by not only coming back from a 3-0 postseason deficit, but then further giving up a 3-0 World Series advantage. I do still wish, though, that they'd gotten to play the Astros, so that a Massachusetts team could beat a Texas one, nudge nudge wink wink.
  • Carpetblogger has figured out the secret to the Red Sox victory.
  • And sorry to all (especially rodgerd), but the Oz cricket juggernaut rolls on. India to lose the series at home tomorrow or the day after, barring a miracle. (2 days plus a session to play, Oz 309 runs up with one wicket down: declare 450 ahead with a day and a half to go, pretty much no way to lose from there on a greenish pitch.) (I didn't want to start another thread for this, and baseball and cricket are both variants of rounders anyway.)
  • fatoudust, No altercations that we saw, but we pretty much avoided the main areas of cop concentration. Riot cops scare the crap out of me. Especially after what happened last week. All in all it looked pretty "peaceful". My main impression was that the cops were better organized and kept people funelled into areas where they could manage them. Now if only the helicopters could be quieter...oh my achin head!
  • The Sox wanted it more, simple as that. I'm wearing black today out in mourning. And because it looks cool and, with my stern visage and general air of grumpiness, keeps away children, dogs and pesky work-proferring colleagues.
  • I am weeping tears of shame and dressed in red and blue's complementary colors. Sure, I look stupid in green and orange, but NO FRIGGING STUPIDER THAN THAT BIG BUNCH OF ASTHMATIC EIGHT-YEAR-OLD GIRLS DID. Congratulations, Boston. Y'all earned it. We'll, ah...we'll take the curse from here, thanks.
  • MCT: ouch. Plus, I think you all are safe from the curse, the Yankees have dibs.
  • GO FREAKIN' SOX!!! HELL YEAH!!!! self portrait
  • Fes! Me too! (Yeah, I'm generally all about putting on an air of unapproachability, too. But today I'm just sad.)
  • *Wondering if Armageddon is neigh*
  • neigh *whinnies*
