This reminds me -- is it an urban legend that the Dutch Army recently had absolutely no dress & haircut regulations? I saw some photos a few years ago where they looked like hippies and stoners. However a Google search doesn't bear this out.

Say what you will about his haircutting style... the story he recounts about his escape from Vietnam is quite amazing.
