PSSSSSST! That superstar of the Democratic convention? We think he might be the Anti-Christ. Wow. Just wow.
  • Wee! Christians are funny.
  • You mean the Anti-Christ isn't gay?
  • "End Times" paranoia - check. Projected racism - check. You just can't argue with that kind of logic!
  • Ignorant racist crazy fundamentalists make Baby Jesus cry. Yours in Christ.
  • I guess the fundies don't have the exclusive rights to painting with an overly broad brush, eh IgnorantSlut?
  • Thread was started by "His Grace": doesn't that mean he's impersonating the Pope or something? Nice icons, though: sort of like a geek code for fundy End Timers. and Wow, again.
  • Does that make Alan Keyes the tooth fairy?
  • Wow. Just wow. I'm blown away that people actually think this way!
  • Plus he's a Democrat, and you know what that means, right? Hates baby Jesus, hates America, loves TERRORISTS.
  • yeah, i caught this at BLORT and it made my eyes pop. I couldn't stop laughing.
  • mecurious, last time I checked we were all free to make broad strokes.
  • Who are you calling a broad!!!??? /indignation
  • And given that my other emotion is stupefying anger, I think a little laughter in the face of such ignorance is probably preferable. But that could just be me.
  • My favorite part is Trish's tagline: "Blessed are those that hear the Word of God, and Do It." At first I thought to recommend that she see someone about the voices in her head, but then I thought, maybe she's just one-upped the old Grease "Do it for our country".
  • Holy freakin' wing nuts! This comment brought to you by your friendly neighborhood Mormon, someone used to getting called names and painted with a broad brush.
  • Wait just a dang-blasted second- I thought Bush was the Antichrist! (Who is this guy again?)
  • If Bush is the AntiC, he's slacking off; he should be charming, witty, intelligent... or maybe he just doesn't care anymore and is stating his intentions flat out in the open.
  • IgnorantSlut, certainly anyone is FREE to paint with a broad brush. In fact, feel free to use any logical fallacy you desire in an effort to make a point. But then don't be overly disappointed when the use of a fallacy undermines the effectiveness of your point. Such is their nature. Did anyone read to the end and see that the thread was stopped for "review" by the moderators? I see now that the link was pulled. I shoulda saved a copy as soon as I noticed that. The discussion went on for some 17 pages.
  • These intolerant fuckers are covering their tracks. Yo, Quontset! You got a mirror I can link to?
  • Yes, you now have to login to read the thread.
  • Even if you create an account, it says you don't have permission to access the thread when you try to read it.
  • I see I'm not the only person who got an account just to see where the discussion went...
  • Loonies.
  • I suspect that community did a wise thing by closing off that thread for widespread public consumption. I doubt that particular opinion was one shared by the majority of its members who are probably good, tolerant folks just like us who have their own strong feelings about where this country is headed. At least I hope that's the case.
  • Google got it. not sure how much though. oh, page one only. Oh well.
  • Ooops, here's page 3 page 5 that seems to be it though
  • I suspect that Dr. Zira is correct, particularly from some of the dissenting opinion I read in the thread. Which raises an interesting question. If we say they are "covering their tracks" for removing the thread, aren't we putting someone in a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" position? If you had a forum or bb for people of a particular position, and one or two extreme members posted something that was "over the line" from the mainstream, you would have to make a choice (somewhere) between allowing the comments to stand, where their comments could be pointed at as representing the entire group, and removing the whole thread. What would YOU do? Forums can be moderated for a reason.
  • I have the first page mirrored from the Google cache. Could'nt get the rest. I'd be happy to put them up if someone else could tho. http://logos.homeftp.org/page1.htm I apologize for the slow connect, but what can I do? Textbooks cost too much... :-)
  • This is REALLY interesting. A Google search for "Obama" and "antichrist" leads to quite a list of sites. Many are commenting on the same thread we were discussing. But there are others, including this one in which one of the commenters PREDICTS that Obama would be called the antichrist by "the other side": "Did you ever read that series called 'Left Behind'? . . . Obama will be painted as the antichrist by them, you wait!" I'm impressed.
  • Jeez, can't an AntiChrist reveal himself peacefully at a political convention anymore?
  • I'm the PantyChrist. Heya hot babes - How YOU doin'? *does pointy-pistol thing with fingers*
  • Oh shit sorry wrong thread.
  • So, which was the right thread? Do tell, I'm intrigued. *grin*
  • ;)
  • mecurious, no point was made or attempted but thanks for the lesson in rhetoric and discourse. Much obliged.
  • I would like to think that any Anti-Christ worth his (pillar of) salt would have move his career along a little faster. Obama languished (antichristly speaking) in the Illinois legislature for years before only recently making any sort of dent on the national scene. Not to mention that international scene - really, I'd expect an antichrist to be have a bit more cross-border influence. Plus, my Infernal Masters say you people are way WAY off.
  • Bill Gates is the anti christ.
  • You can tell by his smile.
  • Bill Gates is the anti christ. You can tell by his smile. So where does that place George W.'s trademark smirk?
  • So where does that place George W.'s trademark smirk? Are you talking about the one on the U.S. one dollar bill or the one currently in the White House? heh
  • bearguy - think about the texas rangers. then re-read fes's comment regarding spending too much time wasting his career without making a national impact. clearly, the twerp from texas ain't moving along fast enough to be the antichrist. plus i sorta figured the antichrist would be, you know, taken as a smart guy by the masses, not derided for his stupidity. bill gates? neh. i'd think the AC (as the xtian-wacko board referred to him) would have more style than that - no way would the antichrist be caught dead in that page-boy haircut.
  • So one of the early posts over there starts out like this:I fear nothing except God. Fear is the opposite of Faith, and Faith I have. OK, as someone who was raised a Catholic, I don't understand. You fear God? But you have faith? But fear is the opposite of faith? So does that mean you don't have faith in God? I'm so confused. Why are we supposed to be "God fearig" if God is also supposed to be love? (I'm not looking for an excuse to bash christians, I'm just trying to understand what "fearing god" is supposed to mean)
  • "Fearing" god is meant, as I understand it, not as an actual fearfulness (like, being scared of) but as an acknowledgement of supreme power and complete and utter repect for and concomitant submission to that power.
  • bill gates invented the internet and the internet is the greatest evil ever therefore bill gates must be the most evil man ever therefore bill gates is the devil (there is no way anyone can argue with my faultless logic. if only i could add some bullet points and a chart)
  • Although it is tinged with, I would imagine, the fear of losing eternal grace through sin and the application of similarly eternal punishment - sinners in the hands of an angry god, that sort of thing.
  • the one on the U.S. one dollar bill or the one currently in the White House? Whoops, good point mecurious. No, I meant Dubya. I can't picture George "Big Guy" Washington smirking. Even the dollar bill portraits are somewhat Mona Lisa-esque in their slight, knowing smile. Hmm, now that might be the subject of the next Dan Brown tome. no way would the antichrist be caught dead in that page-boy haircut. Very true too CLF. But I'm sure the AntiC will be bursting with Machiavellian flavor, much like Bill Gates, but have an appetizing albeit sleezy wrapper, ala Gordon Gecko [mp3 and HTML versions]. I mean, the AntiC will already know how much peeps love 'reality' shows, so why not model himself in part after a fictional character?
  • Interesting, these trolls who post to the Christian message boards.
  • Morris, are you implying that the guy who started that thread was simply a troll and not a longstanding member of the christian-forum.com community? If you are, I believe you would be mistaken. A look at his "stats" shows that he has posted 1300 times and received 13,984 "blessings". (Is that the equiv. of an "AMEN!" from the congregation???) Not what one would expect if you were trying to paint him as a rabble-rouser that was just trying to rile the christian-forum.com community.
  • mecurious, I can't help but think that you're reading a bit much into the comments of this thread. Also, the "guy" is actually a 50-something grandmother, but don't let facts get in the way of your point.
  • I think I can clear this whole issue up. Google tells us: "barack obama" + antichrist... 110 hits "john kerry" + antichrist... 5,770 "george w bush" + antichrist... 15,200 "bill clinton" + antichrist... 17,500 "bill gates" + antichrist... 14,400 "prince william" + antichrist... 1,510 "janet jackson" + antichrist... 904* "turkmenbashi" + antichrist... 8 "sven goran eriksson" + antichrist... 10 "william shatner" + antichrist... 728 "jim loy" + antichrist... 2 "that cubs fan who caught the ball" + antichrist... 0 "the guy from the halifax adverts" + antichrist... 0 "jason from big brother" + antichrist... 0 "anybody on the underground who stands on the left of the escalator with a huge goddam suitcase" + antichrist... 0 "flashboy" + antichrist... 17 Slick Willy would appear to have that antichrist thing pretty much sewn up, then... I thought. Until, that is, I tried: "jesus" + antichrist... 144,000 Woah. Didn't see that one coming, did you? *"Was Janet Jackson’s halftime show the most highly rated Black Mass in history?..."
  • "jesus" + antichrist... 144,000 We are rolling on the floors here at the monastary! *Gives Flashboy a big ol' banana spit sundae
  • That is just not right, flashboy. Now, if you excuse me, I need to go post a long-winded LJ entry about how Jason from Big Brother is, in fact, the AntiChrist (what human would spend that much time checking out his own arms on national television?) I'll try and work that whole suitcase-on-the-escalator thing in too, cuz that bugs the shit outta me.
  • From the thread: isn't he married...??????? according to scripture the Ac will not have regard to women...... Does this mean that the anti-Christ is....Graham Norton?
  • If you get Jesus and the Antichrist together, is that like getting the cheese and the anticheese together in KoLoathing? Can I get a new familar out of this?
  • dng: You need Power Point.
  • /ignore Wedge :( It was nice to see my name on blort|meepzorp, though. That made my day... like seeing your name in the paper, or making the local news.
  • like seeing your name in the paper, or making the local news. Since I got email from quonsar, I've realised that there just isn't any farther to go on the internet. I, like, totally give up. I hit the edge of the net, and it was spongy.
  • spongy in that 'sucking the life out of you' sort of way?
  • Now I'm drowning in envy. Thanks Wolof.
  • Every time this thread comes up on the sidebar, I start getting "Anti - Christ! Superstar!" running through my head.
  • Every time this thread comes up on the sidebar, I start getting "Anti - Christ! Superstar!" running through my head.
  • and it's very repeditive.
