MoFi Meet! NEW YORK MONKEY MEETUP 2! July 30th, Friday, 8:30 PM Rock and Rollerskate at Office Ops More info here, here, here, and here.

I am totally going and would LOVE to be joined by our previous meetup crew and a whole new fleet of monkeys! Mefi-ers, friends of Mo- or Me-, general hangers on or bananas of all types are welcome. We can likely meet earlier for dinner and then hit the club afterwards, so if you can only meet to eat and greet, that's cool too. Howzabout it?

  • Methinks I would be stopped at the airport, after my recent comments about topping the POTUS and killing my family. Ah well.
  • Hey, are there any Portland Oregon monkeys around here? I'd love to set up a PDX meetup as well. /me is jealous of you new yahkers
  • You bastards. [/florida] [/broke] actually, it sounds like a lot of fun. someday...
  • I'll be on a trip to NYC over that very weekend, but busy at a free TMBG show in Brooklyn that night. :(
  • Roller skating? I'm sorry, I haven't been in a rink since I was 14. I can only envision picking myself up off the floor. Many times. But lets hear more about this free TMBG show, aarontec.
  • Damn it. I think I'm the only monkey in Arkansas. If I had cash, I'd suggest a MoFi meetup in my homeland of Missouri -- we could take in a Cardinals game and tour the brewery.
  • I'd suggest a MoFi meetup in my homeland of Missouri -- we could take in a Cardinals game and tour the brewery. Sounds good! Probably just be me and you, though.
  • If I were anywhere near NYC, I'd so be there. I spent most of my childhood rollerskating to the soundtrack from Xanadu. Wait, is that too much information?
  • Fes, tell you what: next time my wife and I are up in St. Louis for a game, I'll give you a heads-up. Probably won't be this season, though. We just bought our first house and are nearly out of time and money for the whole summer.
  • Goddamnit: a meetup and a TMBG show the same weekend. I reiterate: you bastards. derail: the new TMBG album is teh roX0r. "Thunderbird" may just be one of the most perfect songs ever written.
  • be sure to take pix! might be worth trying this for posting pix, so we needn't bother iggyslut again
  • Shucks. I'm going to be in NY the next weekend. Why aren't there Bay Area meetups every other month?
  • MCT: Deal!
  • Daniel, I think that would be a great idea. We could go to Burgermeister for lunch (they serve Niman Ranch beef!), and then maybe head out to the S.F. Zoo afterward to check out the cuddly monkeys. If I remember correctly, there are lots of CA monkeys. And Los Angelenes (?) are always looking for a reason to go to S.F. ;o)
  • I've been here a year and a half and I still haven't gone to the zoo! Mmm. I might have to go to Burgermeister for dinner...
  • Yikes! Get ye to the zoo! (I'm just jealous - the Sacramento zoo is not a happy place). I promise, you won't regret Burgermeister. When I did the look-up, I saw that there are 2 of them in San Fran, but I've only heard of one. I can't remember the name of the street, but by looking at where Tully's coffee shop is (because there's one very close), I do believe it's the one on Church street. You might call to be sure, though: (415) 437-2874 /really, really loves that place
  • Ian would say...i'm in Portland Oregon too. See, we have the beginnings of a Pomofi meetup!
  • Minda25: There's a Burgermeister on Carl Street near the corner of Cole. The N-Judah stops literally right in front of it. There's a Tully's very near it, just a few doors down on Cole. Is that what you are thinking of?
  • You know, I believe that's it. Is it a little neighborhood with a plant store, a pet store, and some other non-touristy stuff? There's also *snicker* a hill nearby *snicker* :o) West Coast Meetup :o) Any of you Northwesterners have relatives you could use as an excuse to come visit?>
  • ramix: Yeyeah! We just need two more and we'll officially have a posse.
  • minda25: you got it: Cole Valley is a little neighborhood as you described, and that would be Tank Hill you are thinking of, which provides a superb view of the city. At this point I feel I must disclose that I actually *live* in Cole Valley, so a meetup there would be ridiculously convenient for me. In Cole Valley or elsewhere, San Francisco meetup, anyone?
  • *raises hand* Count me in! ambrosia, I am officially jealous. Don't ever move! Hey, do you ever play the trivia at Tully's for the free shot of espresso? My husband must do that every time we go, or he feels imcomplete.
  • Oh, I've totally been to Burgermeister, more than a few times. The one on Carl. My favorite sushi restaurant is also on Carl (not the one you're thinking of), and the Crepe place across the street isn't too bad either. I'm totally in for a trip to the Zoo and lunch! Time to start a thread?
  • Please tell me your favorite sushi place is Hama-ko, and not Grandeho's Kamekyo? /sushi elitist and a trip to the Zoo seems so, well, apt.
  • Hey, they West Coast has taken over the East Coast! Neener neener! well, their thread, anyway :o)
  • Um. So nobody's interested then?
  • Awwww, forks, I'm sorry. If I was in NY, I'd be there in a heartbeat!
  • OF COURSE it's Hama-ko. I'm not quite leet enough to have a secret password there, though. I had the unfortunate experience of being there with friends of friends who made that night one of the most horrifying dinners I've ever eaten, and I was surprised I wasn't banned right then and there.
  • Oh hey, forks, sorry for hijacking your thread. Like minda, if I could make it to a NY meetup, I would. We should probably start our own thread. And Daniel, I don't blame you. Those Hama-ko folks have astonishingly good memories.
  • I'm interested, forks. If we go halves on the air fare...
  • I'm interested. But theres a chance (slim) that I may have a work obligation that night. I should know by this time next week. I'll keep ya posted tofu-man.
  • Okay, I've taken the west coast out of the east coast thread. Sorry about that, forks! I promise to never do it again.
  • probably cause its a friday and ppl haven't seen the post yet. It'd be fun, but I try to avoid NYC because I heard a mean guy lives there.
  • Aww, C'mon Pete_best.... I mean... I know I get a bad rap... but really, I'm a nice guy! Honest!
  • I'm going to call for a MoFi Meet-up in Broome, WA (that WA would be referring to Western Australia). Any Takers? We have the best beaches in the world... [*strut*] I'm a good tour guide.. And if not, I can hope for acknowledgement (and/or worship) from my loyal minions at the NYC meet-up.
  • He was talking about me, Cap'n.
