docutizing? advermentary? raises all sorts of questions about filmic truth...
all i know is, film really is the new literature.
When our collective unconscious has nothing better to do than determine what kind of car we should be buying, the marketers have already won...
Collective unconscious? Jungian nonsense. Away with it.
Media marketers no longer insinuate the product in the program, now the product IS the program. And any time Jungian nonsense is suggested as some kind of explanation, I can't help but laugh.
It's all a bunch of hooey. No more intriguing to me than why kids get all caught up in Pokemon. Marketing = parasitism.
As time goes by it becomes more and more apparent to me that media literacy and scepticism really need to be taught in schools. I'm very glad that while I was getting my Master's degree at Bowling Green I was able to teach a class that basically taught my students that the things around us are important and that nothing should go unexamined. It was very satisfying when a student would realize that not everything is as simplistic as it seems and that we shouldn't shut off our minds when we consume media.
If kids are taught to recognize propaganda/advertizing/bias whenever they encounter it, wot will beome of business?
Totally agree with jccalhoun.
