Cornel West: November 2001
(RealAudio). The most important words I heard spoken in the month after September 11.
The end not of American innocence -- America has never been innocent. No, what struck me was: This is the end of America's adolescence.
Persuant to this recent discussion. Democracy Now weblink here. The audio's a little murky, but it's required listening.
The audio is murky is an understatement. He said something about looking out his window and seeing a plane crash into the World Trade Center. Then he said something else that got a really big laugh. Did anybody catch it?
"I said to myself, 'Well, I know I'm not high.'"
Cornel West has spoken at my school (tcnj) many times and he is an amazing speaker. Definetly go see him if you can.
