The onion's least essential lists are always pretty good - actually the whole av club section is fairly excellent - its just a pity the main site has forgotten to be funny for about two years

Ah, the original link is gone, swallowed into the Onion's increasingly fee-driven archives (not that I begrudge that). It doesn't look like they've got this year's least essentials up yet, so why not try their surprisingly specific gift guide?
