The Oracle of Bacon.

To give us all a chance against shawnj...

What # do you recive if you & Bacon shopped in the same store?

Ah, one of the all-time classics (at least in internet terms.)

Fass graduated with a degree in history and is now a cook? That shows you what this sort of tomfoolerie will lead to.

Could someone who can be arsed pretty please post a link to the story of how the mathematician who invented the field of maths that spawned the whole Bacon# thing would have had a Bacon# himself if only documentaries were allowed (because he was pictured getting an honorary degree at the same time as, I believe, Alec Guiness), but they weren't so he doesn't?

Could ya? Please?

Myself, when playing this game, always find that Bacon (Tremors) --> Arianna Richards (Tremors, Jurassic Park) --> Dickie Attenborough (Jurassic Park) is a very useful link back into the olden days. Was pleased to discover that Bela Lugosi has a Bacon# of only 3. The same as Benny Hill.

I'm confused, flashboy- I was trying to think up someone to get a higher number than "3" and when I tried "Louise Brooks" it scored her a "2"- based on her "appearance" in a documentary about her that came out in 1998, thirteen years after she died.

That just seems wrong.

Maybe these dudes allow docs. I'm sure under strict Kevinbacon rules, docs aren't allowed, but then I guess they're scraping their information from some IMDb-type site, which doesn't make such distinctions. In which case, all it takes is someone else to remember the name of the mathematician I was banging on about, and we're away!

I'll be checking up tomorrow morning, and I want to see ANSWERS, godammit.

*yawns, night night*

i found a bunch that have bacon numbers of infinity. just use actors/actresses from small-market foreign films.

original kevin bacon oracle website here (linked to in above article, i think it actually uses it to submit answers). used to have this bookmarked, years ago. it's still fun, and i've still yet to hit higher than 3 just guessing at names.

I don't know the casts of obscure foreign films, but I discoveredhat:

Cleo Moore is a 3 (Blonde, lowsy, bimbo-ish, directed in a number of really bad films by hur husband Hugo Haas in the 1940/50s is a 3.

William Boyd (otherwise known as Hopalong Cassidy), mostly a 1940/50s tv series western star, and whose picture is still on Producers milk in my neck of the woods, is a 2.

Lash Larue( '40s/50s Saturday serial performer who took the villains out using his whip) is a 3.

Gorgeous George (1950s wrestling icon) is a 3.

That's about the depth of my obscure actor knowledge.

I found lance henrikson, and in the end, thats really all that matters.

flashboy: I think you are talking about erdos numbers...but I am not actually familiar with the story you are referring to. I suppose I cant be ?aresed?

The Oracle of Bacon.

I have been trying to break this with my knowledge of blaxploitation and martial arts films, and I'm still getting twos and threes. Even Rudy Ray Moore is a two.

Erdos. That's the bugger. Well done. Still can't be arsed to find the story, though.
