Curious George: Which blogs do you read?
Have you visited any sites other than MonkeyFilter?
-
Whoops, forgot a [more inside]... I like Dooce, plep, Gizmodo and defective yeti
-
W-a-a-a--i-t a second. If show you the Pop-Tarts, you just may come back for some self-serve after-hours helpings, and then I wouldn't have enough of my OWN toaster pastries for my 18,000th MoFi post (scheduled for July of 2005...) Aww. OK: I Like: Wheat and Farina Report.com SpookyPoopers.log Keep Your Ham Offa My Bedspread.edu Lactating Mary Poppins.bz (warning: Flash.) Some days I successfully avoid falling into the never-ending maze of blog links. Other days I can spend hours wandering through them, only to emerge looking like a LAN zombie and with all plans for the day shot to hell. Apart from the standards like Boing Boing, MeFi and of course MonkeyFilter, some arguably work-related sites like Vinography, and a few I may have already mentioned elsewhere (ahem), I tend to find myself in a different place everytime. Which I enjoy, and consider to be a good thing.
-
Disinformation, RealityCarnival, wood s lot and WorldChanging are also all great. And of course the always brilliant plep. Hail plep!
-
metafilter & monkeyfilter, that's it, nothing else. i don't have the time to read much else and anytime i go looking elsewhere it's all disappointing in comparison.
-
What you mean there are other sites than Monkey filter? Really? Is that Metafilger or filter or whatever the hell they call it, is that still up? Seems like every time I stop by the gremlins have taken it down.
-
Have you visited any sites other than MonkeyFilter? Never ever ever ever ever. Evah.
-
blog - is that the stuff at the bottom of your tea cup? I don't go for that hoo hah!
-
Curse the way that first link came out. Mine bad.
-
Metafilter, Memepool, neilgaiman.com, occasionally kuro5hin and Crazy Apple Rumours. When I remember I read bookfilter and The Register.
-
Our bretheren filters, BookFilter and FilmFilter, seem to be in poor health. I do not know if they can still be saved. :(
-
I just registered at filmfilter. Been meaning to for a while. Hopefully a few other people will join too and help resurrect the site.
-
Everyone should read dong resin's joint. Without doubt one of the funniest MeFi contributers of all time, his blog is consistently amusing. I'm still waiting for Unity to be released, so I check Jeff Minter's blog every now and again too.
-
Bookfilter would be a Good Thing to get going nicely. Unfortunately from my point of view, the ILx board/ blog I Love Books is so interesting that I don't want to transfer my my attention at the moment. What the solution is, I don't know. Oh, yeah, blogs: Arts & Letters Daily | BlixBlog - Elias Blix | Blog of a Bookslut | Boing Boing | Giornale Nuovo | I Love Books Blog | I Love Writing Blog | Making Light | Maud Newton Blog | Metafilter | MonkeyFilter | Northcoast Exile | Obscure Store | Open Brackets | Slashdot | memepool.com | storytelling on the page and off of it | thingsmagazine.net |
-
These are some of the blogs and blog-type things I check out on a more or less regular basis. The Black Table Bunsen.tv Whatevs.org thingsmagazine.net Bifurcated Rivets Defamer Arts & Letters Daily coolfer boingboing fark lowculture stereogum and until yesterday ultagrrrl There are others, but I have to get back to work. My boss is complaining about my productivity.
-
too lazy to link, but: obscurestore, romenesko's media news, j-walk blog, presurfer, bifurcated rivets. google 'em, they're all really good.
-
Abbie The Cat Has A Posse McSweeney's Sharpeworld Coudal Partners
-
These too: The Morning News Born Magazine
-
I have an extensive list of happy fun sites I go to pretty much every day on my blog and it would be a chore to reproduce here. But my current favorite site (other than this one, natch) is Defamer. Dear God do they come up with some snarky comments. And I live in LA for the moment. I can't help it.
-
oh well yah i guess i should have mentioned that i read dong resin too; i wasn't thinking of personal blogs, which i normally avoid like the plaque. but dong's the best, and i don't say that just because he's my hostee. hey i didn't realize there was a filmfilter.. i know a few people who might really like it so i'll send them the url.
-
yah and i also normally avoid personal blogs like the PLAGUE. but it's nice to have clean teeth too.
-
I read plenty of what's already been listed, but add Mighty Girl to the stack.
-
I think local blogs are rad - although Defamer is of the Nick Denton media empire - I enjoy the Gothamist empire - currently based out of New York, but now there's a chicagoist, with an LA one in the works too.
-
You people with your pasty white skin and your enlarged eyeeballs frighten me. Where DO you find the time? Cruising through google and reading Monkeyfilter and that Other Filter are enough for me. I need occasional sunshine and 2-3 hours of sleep nightly.
-
eyeeeeeeeeee balls!
-
Fark.com SciTechDaily.com The other ones I browse have already been listed.
-
Mostly MoFi. But if I'm desperately cruising Procrastination Avenue, the following get visits: Lambda the Ultimate Play with the Machine Cool Tools Lemonodor The Volokh Conspiracy Hit & Run
-
I'm a bit lazy to type them all out, but they're all collected at the bottom of this page. (Warning: self link)
-
Most of the places I go regularly have been mentioned already, but I'll throw in one that hasn't: Atrios.
-
Mimi Smartypants. She's dinky.
-
Bob Mould Flotation Carlos Linkfilter Continuous Roll Halfass
-
my only two regular blog stops are the filters - mofi'n'mefi. although gotta say i spend more time here than i do in the blue. its... well, its... i think its the lack of pissing in the threads, maybe. yes, that's it exactly: mefi is like new orleans. it can be lots of fun, you can find lots of neat things there, but if you go at the wrong time it's too crowded and to be honest it quite often smells like pee.
-
Food for thought!!! kuro5hin.org urbansurvival.com blort This one's NSFW! But surprisingly handy resource. goodshit and when I get Cookin! allrecipes
-
Oh, man, don't mention goodshit - I steal half my links from there.

-
Speaking of blort, where's quonset lately?
-

-
I'd never seen Danny O'Brien's weblog before. Cheers, flashboy. I go these places, sometimes: World of Stuart Kieron Gillen's workblog diepunyhumans artblog Tofu Hut Fluxblog And Monkeyfilter, Metafilter and Sportsfilter, too.
-
*hangs "unobservant" sign around neck*
-
Alton Brown's Rants and Raves Pound little. yellow. different. dong resin's joint Izzle! Izzle pfaff Defamer Boing Boing wicked thoughts Mighty Girl And two that aren't really weblogs but two of my favorite, favorite daily or near daily reads: Television Without Pity Tomato Nation
-
Andrew Brown's helmintholog, offcuts from his journalism and science writing. The Deep North, highbrow culture from the far north of Scotland. Oliver Kamm, for politics. Frizzy Logic, for photographs. The Trixie Update, for all things baby-related. Fr Bryce Sibley's Saintly Salmagundi, for religious wackiness.
-
That Trixie Update is some serious dedication to the baby-raising cause. I'm beyond impressed.
-
I would have trouble going without desbladet, eudaemonist, languagehat, laputan logic, and pseudopodium. And, recently, us.
-
Along with MetaFilter, MonkeyFilter, Slashdot, etc., I mostly stick with academia, news, commentary, and the like. Too bad they don't give course credit for any this. - Noam Chomsky's Turning the Tide - Lawrence Lessig's Blog - Brad DeLong's Semi-Daily Journal - Juan Cole's Informed Comment - Sam Smith's garish Progressive Review - Tom Tomorrow's This Modern World
-
Ones I have not yet seen linked in this thread: creek running north waveflux american leftist hatless slacktivist fanatical apathy ... and quite a few others.
