Squirrel Stuffing For Beginners. Impress The Gals! Win Valuable Prizes!
  • I've never quite understood why squirrels are so disliked. I like the little fuckers, at least.
  • Dizzy, my username means squirrel*. Should I be afraid of you? *Squirrels, when attacked, always go for the nuts. Stuff me at your own risk.
  • Is this something Jim Loy would do?
  • Meet Jim
  • I've eaten squirrels. Used to hunt them as a kid. I have to say that there's nothing like sputtering out pieces of lead shot as you chew around the bones and tendons of a greasy, dead rat with a floufy tail.
  • I've never quite understood why squirrels are so disliked. Have one live in a kitchen vent that runs right over your bed, then have it fight with another squirrel over the space at 3:00 in the morning.
  • Sciurus-- I noticed in your profile you live in Cleveland! Great town! Friendly! Heck, I've heard people hardly ever lock their doors after dark. What was your street address again? Just wonderin'. Your pal, ol' Dizzy...
  • I live in the big walnut tree right next to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
  • hey... WAIT A MINUTE!!!
  • Some of those squirrels were still twitching. I think they're not dead yet...
  • Husband attacked his wife with six frozen squirrels You don't see that headline every day.
  • "No man should hit his wife - especially with a squirrel." Isn't that in the Bible somewhere?
  • I prefer cornbread stuffing.
  • I thought the authorities banned cornbread stuffing just after dwarf tossing. I hate my mother.
  • I thought the authorities banned cornbread stuffing just after dwarf tossing. I hate my mother.
  • no, that was NOT a mistake. I'm so hip I'm posting in stereo.
  • Glad you're back, Dizzy!
  • This Jim fellow... his last name wouldn't be... nah... Hiya, Dizzy! We missed you! And no, you don't know me.
  • Prefer to stuff squirrels with seeds, nuts, and corn. Little rascals do their greedy best take it anyway.
  • I *heart* beeswacky! *raids birdhouse and waits for more*
  • beeswacky, I can't quite make out the last part of the recipe you sent me. stuff squirrels with seeds, nuts, and corn dot with butter place in baking dish and cover Now, do I cook at 350 or 375?
  • Crap, and I'm too fat to move now.
  • Is it ok to defrost a squirrel on my countertop? Because although my microwave kindly includes twin "Defrost Dog" and "Defrost Capybara" functions, there is no evidence of a "Defrost Squirrel" button. Why, YES, my oven WAS made in South Korea.
  • I'm so hip I'm posting in stereo. Get Dizzy, y'all! /Joeski Love
  • Sciurus, how do you propose to get out of that tiny little hole that birdhouses have?
  • Mmmm... Brunswick stew.
  • I suppose I should have gone for the birdfeeder but its too late now. Once I lose some of this weight I should be able to squeeze out. I just hope no decides to stuff me before then.
  • Zemat: Even though the bottled squirrel technique is pretty cool, I prefer the hands-on personal approach. Climb a tree, act like a nut. Hmmmm. You'd think being a Monkey house, this place would have more trees. Guess I'll just strew a few nuts and bananas around here and see what I catch. oooo))))oo)))ooooo))))))oo
  • *steals nut* *slips on banana peel*
  • Ohhh, those are bananas! I get it now! *slaps forehead*
  • The one-eyed squirrel jumps to thump on the windowsill where we put a feeder If I open the front door in a trice his whole length arrows through dappled air to land with a lurch on a branch high above the concrete walk He must throw his heart over first I wonder as my heart slows down what do the wild ones know Whose beauty is always about to be clasped held fast in the dry arms of death
  • Bees, you just get better and better. But, for a lighter squirrel thing. When I was last living in the California bay area, my back yard grew 3 bottle brush trees. The squirrels would use the electrical cables from house to house as a highway to access the trees. They would pluck the flower clumps, eating them like corn on the cob, which they resembled. Pretty gray squirrels!
  • Gray squirrels have tails like bottle brushes.
  • What I like about gray squirrels is how the move their tails back and forth like sending signals. I wonder if it is some sort of way they communicate with each other.
  • I miss sciurus. Haven't seen his tail pop up in a while now. *pining* *suspicious glance at BlueHorse and beeswacky* Ya 'aven't et 'im, 'ave ya?
  • This site always cracked me up!
  • Once there were great chestnut trees in North America. Then along came a blight which wiped them out. The sweet-flavoured nuts from these trees formed a basic foodstuff for many indigenous mammals -- including the gray squirrel. Animals which had evolved to rely on chestnuts were suddenly forced to look elsewhere for their main sustenance. Squirrels are now compelled to live on acorns (many of which are bitter and possibly less nutritious), hickory nuts, walnuts, and so forth. The only trees with a range and yield similar to that of the vanished chestnut seem to be the oaks, of which there are many varieties. August is usually dry hereabouts -- during this month, wild squirrels have a very hard time of it. One old-timer here told me the chestnut trees used to drop their nuts about this time of year. The squirrels raid cornfields and bird-feeders -- not all of them make it to September, when acorns and other native trees bear nuts and seeds.
  • 'nedra! You couldn't possibly think ...? That's just DISGUSTING!! You're right. Where is the little nut-muncher? I miss him, too.
  • Doubtless he's scurrying about looking for provender. He has a blog -- where he's posted items this July.
  • the activists chipmunks flirt as they do most things in jerks and starts after eating fallen plums they leave pits otop the stone wall riddle the hillside with their tunnels dart with daring up the metal poles holding the feeders like canny sailors off a clipper ship behind the iris leaves they flicker black and white stripes and when they try with all their might they can leap from a standing start on seed-littered ground as high as the dumbfounded head of a flat-footed poet
  • Wonderful images, Bees. But can they gain enough purchase to perch up there?
  • I always adored this site which contains the true facts about the general deviousness of squirrels and whether or not, when they die, do skwerls go to heaven? And, appealing to my love/hate relationship with the squirrel, there are some damn cute pictures. (Warning, music on front page...turn down your volume if you're at work).
  • A fine site, that, thanks, zombiebunny.
