Stuck in traffic? For US monkeys, the Dept. of Transportation has put together a doozy of a website. State by state highway information, complete with links to construction info, accident reports, and traffic cams. Good lord, the traffic cams.
States vary widely with the amount of information posted - Hawaii posted links to beach cameras for some reason - but I quickly discovered my ride home from downtown Nashville is littered with web-cams. Pros and cons? Anyone forsee practical uses for this wealth of info?
i sold my car. i am car-free. notice, if you will, how close that is to "carefree."
traffic cams? BRING 'EM ON! i'm sleeping an extra hour in the morning and walking to work.
heh.
I've never owned a car. Although my mum lets me drive heres occasionally.
Also, Britain is speed and traffic camera insane. We are the most watched people ever, anywhere.
Another good one for certain metro areas is Sigalert.com. It is invaluable for the LA area.
Make that just southern California
:D
ya know, I always wanted a comprehensive listing of traffic cameras in the USofA and now I know where to go.
I for one welcome our new omnicient traffic overlord!
Ok that beach camera link led to this which had a strange power to draw my attention for an extended period of time.
Now I have a stronger urge to go to Hawaii, just so I can see that statue in real life...and wave to the camera.
dng - Natch, you have the highest population density of any wealthy socialist-ish country. All the famous paranoid literati are from Britain for a reason.
Still, you have to admit that America is catching up as quickly as it can...
