Defective Yeti's annual list of fun party games - I've never heard of any of them and they sound great.
I love games. Good post. To this list of fun games (and for a cynical jab at the Christmas spirit)I would reccomend a fun game called Zombies!!! If you dig horror movies, it is a fun, humorous extension of the theme. It also utilizes a nice random board system so the city you play in is different each time.
I recall a couple of Christmasses ago playing a game called something like The Settlers of Catan. Basically, you each get control of a civilisation and you must peacefully make the most successful colony on a small island.
Of course, by "peacefully" I mean "stab your sister in the back and steal all her sheep while she's not looking". Unfortunately, the rules were in German so it was a tad harder to play than we may have anticipated.
Settlers is a great game. Here are English translations of the basic and full rules should you ever want to play again.
Wow, thanks for that, Shotsy.
*Stabs Shotsy in the back and steals all his sheep*
Cheapass Games.
But my favorite party game is still blank white cards - we play the variant where you draw all your cards first, and play until someone has to go home, because it's so fun we rarely stop before then.
jb, just looked over the blank white cards, and that is the coolest game ever!
My favorite cards from games I've played (unfortunately not made up by me):
Alien Abduction Card (complete with cartoon of a surprised looking cow) - Lock another player in the bathroom and steal all their cards. You cannot tell them why.
Dumbass! Card - Picture of a Donkey, cancels any other card.
We also had No Way! and Way! cards, which of course cancelled each other out.
Of course, I would like some people to go back a few threads, I think those are really quite nice links.
Let me point the way, two years later, to Board Game Geek. An incredibly useful resource for the board game loving monkey.
