Publisher's Weekly's blog has begun making Literary Pie Charts for notable books. Only two so far (and not Weekly yet), but watch this space...

Pie for everyone! I was going to front page this but I think it belongs here. Pie charts of word origins in selected sentences and paragraphs.

Is Emma's unhappiness vs happiness conveyed by a different mix of word origins? Truly this is a golden age.

Polychrome, that is fascinating. It certainly illustrates that English (as a language) is far from pure and is perhaps the reason why it is continually morphing in step with social cultures.

Oh my. I've never seen that online entomology dictionary. I like!
