Pee and Sympathy, a NYC nurse's true Christmas story. These true hospital stories are both funny and touching. Be sure to have a hanky nearby.
Sorry, I forgot the http and this link doesn't work.
I've eeked it. Have been away for a family Christmas, back for a couple of days, then away again. I see youse guys are ticking along just dandy.
How was everyone's Christmas/non-secular occasion? I had ham, roast lamb, roast turkey, roasted potato, sweet potato, boiled minted new potatoes, peas, carrots, cranberry jelly, gravy, too much wine, followed by trifle, pavlova, cream, steamed pudding, then more wine. Then a game of cricket in the recently-cleared sheep paddock.
NZ Christmases really need to be in the winter with all that food.
Wow, this is the first eeked link since 16832.
Hey everybody, the Trac's back!!
Hello, glad to hear you had a snarfalous Christmas. I also fed too well. Lessee, we had a turducken, thanks to #1 son and wife who picked one up to try on a trip south. There was the ever-popular green bean casserole (holidays are the only time I ever make it.)Then the regulation smashed potatoes dripping with butter, the stuffing, the home-made noodles and biscuits, the cheesecake and pumpkin pies. Never mind the appetizers. Yums. We packed up just a smidgen of leftovers, then made packages for the #2 non-cooking single son, grandkids, and neighbors.
Oddly enough, we forgot to open the olives and cranberry sauce. No problem, I've been eating the cranberries on toast for brekkies. I loves that whole berry cranberry sauce on ANYTHING.
Oh, and turducken? Highly overrated. The duck part was good and different, but I wouldn't trade it for a holiday turkey.
After 50mumble years of SAD, I've decided this feast is all about the daylight getting longer.
Happy Winter Solstice, everymonkey!!!
A Certain Swirl
The classroom was dark, all the desks were empty,
and the sentence on the board was frightened to
find itself alone. The sentence wanted someone to
read it, the sentence thought it was a fine sentence, a
noble, thorough sentence, perhaps a sentence of
some importance, made of chalk dust, yes, but a sen-
tence that contained within itself a certain swirl not
unlike the nebulous heart of the unknown universe,
but if no one read it, how could it be sure? Perhaps it
was a dull sentence and that was why everyone had
left the room and turned out the lights. Night came,
and the moon with it. The sentence sat on the board
and shone. It was beautiful to look at, but no one
read it.
