Archaeologists throughout the UK are reported to be curled up on the floor, hugging their knees and giggling to themselves.
What a spectacular trove. Such intricate workmanship too.
It will be interesting to see if they're able to determine how the artifacts came to be where they were found. Should keep a few historians and archaeologists in business for a while.

One ounce? That's some hefty coin.
They weren't quite as rare, but I found 32 pennies at the car wash the other day--just laying on the cement. The grandkids picked them up while I power hosed off the winter horse blankets so I could re-waterproof them.
Then we went out for half priced ice cream cones!
*wonders if archeologists like ice cream cones, too*
This puppy was minted in the HELLENISTIC Golden Age. Ah, those were the days when coins were COINS!
Not that a penny isn't a fine coin too, in it's own way, in a big enough pile of them :)
