Playwright, actor and Nobel laureate Harold Pinter is dead of cancer at age 78. New York Times obit here, coverage from The Grauniad here; Nobel lecture here.
I last saw Pinter speak in May, at the 50th anniversary performance of The Birthday Party. At least he lived long enough to see his universally-badly-reviewed West End debut make good.
