Map of Olympic Medals shows a geographic representation of medals won for every Olympic Games since 1896.

From 1956-1964, East and West German sent a United Team. Why then and why did they stop, I wonder? If only there was some form of encyclopedia in online form...

What happened to all of Africa in 1976? Did they boycott the Montreal games, or something?

It's interesting how that stabilizes as the century progresses, with a few exceptions.
