Plan 59 is a treasure trove of mid-twentieth-century images.
There's too much to mention here: you can get a snack from the Food-O-Mat, do Joan Crawford's laundry, browse the Gallery of Demonic Tots and Deeply Disturbing Cuisine, or visit a retro bathroom. Why is this woman so excited about her margarine? Underpants!

oooooooh! Nice find, TUM. I like the goat boy Want. A. Goat. Wagon. NOW!
-
Awesome stuff! I like the way these things were accepted in a positive light: cigarettes, red meat, ICBMs and smoke belching from factories. I saw the irony of the "Why not?" caption below "Serve Yourself New Wonder Drugs". TUM FTW.

Sexual innuendo replete in this one. Big red throbbing penis-car erection, then her head is bent to the angle of fellatio, and the guys hands reach out to hold her head. The guy carrying the "shaft" in the background is for the gay customers. Somebody at the ad agency studied Freud!

I don't think those are ICBMs, ThinksTwice - they have wings, so they're not ballistic. I think they must be some early or proto- kind of cruise missile. Rather interesting really... alright, alright, orococo.

The Demonic Tots page is a little too Lileksian in flavor, but overall a fun site! I loves photos from that era.

I'll have to ask my Mom if she remembers that ad... ;-)
