Jet Power Do you remember the Sinclair C5? You know, the C5 -- that sedate, low-slung vehicle that travels at the speed of sound and blasts the driver's ears out.

the answer, sadly, seems to be no.

Yeah, this is some British thing, isn't it? Like bubbles and squeak and crisps and lorries and Billie Piper. Well, we fought a frigging revolution so we wouldn't have to put up with your nonsense words and poor electric-scooter design, so why don't you go find some inbred royalty to share your 70s UK nostalgia with instead of taking valuable minutes away from my gun/torture/preemptive warfare practice time?

Agreed, Nick, the only Sinclair I remember is the Timex Sinclair 1000.

The thing about the C5, as I remember it, was that it was never really supposed to be the main product. Sinclair had announced he was developing an electric car, but he was under pressure to get a product out, so he produced the C5 to keep people off his back and make some money in the meantime. As a result the product didn't match expectations.

Perhaps for that reason it provoked tremendous hostility in some quarters (perhaps it still does). I remember news items full of tirades against it. As a result, perhaps, the full-scale car never appeared and the C5 failed without ever gaining the jet engine which would clearly, with the benefit of hindsight, have made it a market leader.

I had a Timex Sinclair 1000!

I used to buy gas at a Sinclair station.

Bush sucks alright, eh?

Get a Mac!
