How is the universe going to end?
An entertaining article all about the freezing/burning/infinite/finite/depressing/exciting end of the universe, and the eschatologists who contemplate it.
"Eschatology — it's a great word. I had never heard of it until I discovered I was doing it."
Scientists get all the lovely words. Selenography being another.
"Did Dyson really say that?" he exclaimed. "Good. Because I think protons probably do decay."
Comic genius.
You rumbled me, Blaise...
It's still a beautiful word (and a beautiful album, too)
Bees! The universe will end in bees!
I'm not quite sure how (still working through the equations), but the math is solid up to that point.
It's either going to end with a bang or a whimper. The smart money is on the whimper.
It might not have to end at all - if there is one thing the human mind can't even begin to actually conceive of in any meaningful fashion is infinity. What if we do actually live in an infinite universe - infinite in size and infinite in time, too.
The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is comprehensible
Albert Einstein
But maybe it isn't actually comprehensible after all.
sandspider! oh no! the end has begun!
I had no idea what a grammarian did, but now I are one.
I always thought the world was going to end the day we decide those chinese sons of a bitches are going down.
armaghetto - that was damn funny.
